Hello,
Looking for a super sparkly round solitaire under 5K including setting (but I just want a plain white gold band so those seem to run around 400, so no more than 4600 for the diamond) - I'm okay with down to J in color so I figure ill compromise there, ok with down to si1 if eye-cleanish (as long as the flaw is less visible than the black carbon spot on the ring we returned, id be ok sacrificing here to get a better cut), best cut possible and largest carat size possible. So sparkle/cut is most important to me, then size, then I'm less picky with color (I may even be ok with K, I don't know, new at this). I could care less about paying more to have the most ideal ratios or any of the other things you diamond experts here get particular about. ;)2 Original ring was 1.07 carats. Hoping I won't be able to tell much of a difference size wise, but understand I will probably have to go under a carat and from what I've seen online, may have to go as small as .80-.85 to get the cut I want. Will probably want to upgrade down the road so we want to go with a company with a good upgrade policy. Also, are there black Friday deals on diamonds? Is that worth spending some time to research? If anyone has companies or hopefully specific diamonds to recommend, please let me know! Thank you for anyone who can help me search - I'm a bit overwhelmed

Personally I would probably pick this one

This is a clean K that is a great price and since you want to upgrade later this is still eligible for that.

Smaller than the above diamonds but same great upgrade policy and superior cut

Ok, thank you, I'm checking these out. Do you think there's a big difference between excellent and ideal cut to a "layman's eye"? I think I'm getting hung up on eliminating everything but the Ideal cut diamonds, maybe I shouldn't do that...

some online vendors will have sales..I think blue nile..

also on white flash a ritani solitaire starts at $235 in white gold...so could you some wiggle room on diamond

$240 solitaires and up on James Allen and from and $180 for solitaire on blue nile

You get the most for your dollar with ideal cut - the stone will look more beautiful and the cut will make it look bigger because of near zero light leakage on the edges and weight won’t be due to too much depth (better spread for weight). It’s likely that the .80 ideal will look bigger than the 1.07 and spread may even be similar.

Do you need it by this week? Or could you have a little more time?

You could use the 'See it to believe it' offer by CBI and order one to assess at home, and you could compare it to options in local shops.

The other PS-recommended vendors also offer great Returns policies, so if you have the cash/credit, you could order a SuperIdeal and a 'normal' GIA XXX stone (with PS-recommended parameters) in order to compare side-by-side and see if you can see a difference (and if that difference wins over carat size).

I highly recommend HPD (CBI diamonds) or Whiteflash for their upgrade policy, spend a $1 more and you can upgrade. If you went with JamesAllen or BlueNile you have to spend double, if I had to spend double I would want the best and the super ideal vendors produce that

It does depend a bit on whether you want the upgrade policies or not. If you use the diamond search tool above (under the Resources tab) and put in your desired specs, plus the recommended angles,

table: 54-58
depth: 60-62.3
crown angle: 34-35.0
pavilion angle: 40.6-40.9 (sometimes 41.0)

there are at least 150 diamond options if you are willing to sift through them. They are from a variety of retailers. Here’s one with good numbers, for example, but you may or may not like the J colour and med blue fluorescence.

Here’s a smaller I,

PS you seem to have 2 threads going on the same topic with lots of responses, might get a bit confusing!

IDJ jewellery has excellent prices also...kinda tempting me actually haha!
