I just want to know one thing: how the hell did a cow bag thread pile up 3 pages of comments in mere hours? DeeJay, you need to take over Hangout, obv.

Just got done with Big Brothers/Big Sisters -- I volunteers on Wednesdays -- but when I get home I'll post measurements. Perhaps I can get the CB to model a bag or two.

Measurements (keep in mind these are all hand made items so they may vary a little)

Tote 17" wide, 15" high, drop from inside the strap to the top of the bag (so the part you put your arm through) 10-1/2"

Hobo 17" wide at the top, 12" wide at the bottom, 4-1/2" width at the bottom. (I previously posted that it was 16" at the top but tonight I laid it out totally flat on the ground and took a more precise measurement.)

Messenger 13" wide, 10" high. Mine has a shortened strap, which now gives me a 19" drop, but the original strap length will probably give about 20" or so.

Sling 10" wide, 9" high. These come with either a thin leather strap or a chain. I've got the chain on mine (and I also cut about 3" out of it) and I can't find the leather strap right now... (I think it's in the place where all the missing socks go!).

Clutch 11" wide, 5-1/2" high

Messenger 13" wide, 10" high. Mine has a shortened strap, which now gives me a 19" drop, but the original strap length will probably give about 20" or so.

I also took a bunch of pics, which I'll post next, so you can see the bags side by side for comparison.

Tote, hobo, messenger. (Sorry about the busy rug in the background but my floors are dark brown and the bags aren't showing up well on there.)

No problem! I also took one more of a tote and a hobo, both on my shoulder, so you can compare them together. That will come next and I swear those will be all the pics of myself that I litter the internet with for a long time!!!

Again, the hobo hangs beautifully when you're not in some goofy selfie-in-the-mirror pose! And keep in mind your looking at both bags on somebody shorter than average!

Whew -- that was a lot of Dee!

Sorry about having to post so much separately. I can do more than one photo from my work computer but at home or on my phone it usually doesn't work.

If there is ANYTHING else anybody wants (measurements, comparisons, etc.) let me know and I'm happy to do it.

And don't tell Sheryl how bad my photos are! She takes much better pics than I do!

Wow this thread got long!

Dee*Jay - thank you for posting pictures! Those bags are AMAZING! I can see why you'd quickly acquire so many. Spot is my favorite too - just something so irresistible about the pattern. I also love Moo. The spotty ones and ones with different colors are so neat. Thank you for all the information on these bags - I'm going to go look at examples on the website immediately!

Redwood66 - I love yours too! Especially the western silver accents and the bolo tie type closure.

Gorgeous bags! I like the pattern on the Lightening.

Baby Monster, Lightening is so much fun! Here's a cute story... I was flying back from somewhere and I had Lightening laying flat on my lap. I took a little nap and when I woke up the lady in the seat next to me was reading her book with one hand and petting Lightening with the other. When she realized it she was so embarrassed, but I thought it was funny!

  that is hysterical! I can totally see that being something I'd do since I'm used to absentmindedly petting the dog or cat while I read.

I have a friend who's daughter in law also makes stunning leather bags, they don't have hair on them but for anyone ISO something a bit more structured, who also carries vegan leather options she has some super sexy high quality hand made bags as well. If I was a purse person I would have one of the cow hide ones and one of these!

Oh wow, that is someone you know? I already had several of those bags favorited!

Distracts, the thread is so long mostly because of my ineptitude at posting multiple photos at the same time -- sorry!

If you decide you want something let Sheryl know (she's back on Friday) and she can send you pics of stuff she's actually got in stock. Plus, if there's anything specific that appeals to you but she doesn't have she can make it.

And I was completely fine with my seatmate petting Lightening but she was just mortified when she realized it, LOL.

Girrrrrl. I don't really know if DeeJay prepared to handle Monnie. But, Monarch is obviously happy to hang out in Chicago for a weekend and spend time with la D. :wavey: :appl: We have SO much to catch up on. I am bringing a crate of VGW. (very good wine for those who need a lesson.)

I want hobo stat!!! I like a little less white because I get scared that the white parts will get dirty. I like the calico cow hides better than the tabbies!

Oh wow, that is someone you know? I already had several of those bags favorited!

You know all those colorful beautiful woven pieces that I have? Her mother in law is the dye artist! Her son is also an artist, at the moment I can't recall if he's the potter or the wood worker (her SO is also an artist) but her daughter in law makes the beautiful bags!

I haven't sadly met her personally but she is an online friend of mine, a fellow artist who is an inspiration and I own several of her collaborative pieces. I hope to take her course one day (I was too pregnant when she was close to me to attend sadly).

I actually am now a dye artist for fellow weavers myself because of her! The weaving is done by an artist named anna-her business is cloth of kin. If you need handwoven fabric she charges only 50 CND a meter and you can get some awesome things made from it-and all the dye work you see in these examples are my work. Its been a very exciting process for me to see something I had a hand in creating! These I just wide the weft (the width of the fabric) but I have just boxed up a full custom dye job-15 meter warp (the length of the fabric) and the weft (the width) for a few baby wraps. You can use the fabric for other things (in fact I currently have a couple of wraps I didn't' use out to be converted, one into a skirt and ruana and another into a king size quilt).

I wish WISH I used bags. I also wish the conversion rate wasn't so sucky poo. Or that her MIL wasn't a weaver/dye artist. Then I could barter with her LOL!

Dee: I hope your getting a free bag from all the sales you bring her, or at least a wallet!

Didn't mean to hijack the thread at all, but it's very exciting for me to see others who appreciate handmade OOAK things and these few pieces you see are the very FIRST of my work. The baby wrap that's black-the rainbow that's handing is the weft on this piece. The black is cotton and the rainbow is tencel (a wood fiber). I'm fortunate the my first real job I got to actually keep. Anna is also great and weaves me pieces for my dye work, so I get to keep some. The huge table full of fiber is going to become a few baby wraps. My phone really made it more blue that it is IRL-it has a lot more purples in it than that but I dyed it for a local mom who wanted a custom baby wrap.
Maybe your friend has grand babies coming that I could swap her a baby wrap for a purse LOL!

Vintagelover, those fabrics (? - is that the right word?) are just STUNNING! I remember seeing a pic of you carrying your bub in a very colorful wrap a while ago and being so impressed by how beautiful the piece was!

Monnie, I think Binny's should get rid of their geographic categories (Italian, French, etc.) and just separate wine into:

Swill -- appropriate for frat parties,
OK -- appropriate to drink on your own or with others, your choice, and
VGW - bring it on baby!
