August Vintage Cushion compared to a BGD Round Brilliant!

Such a hard decision. The only thing I thought of was at least if you buy a diamond when the prices are high, if they fall (wishful thinking)
you will be able to get more bang for your buck with a trade in.
The only downside of PS is that it is hard to stay content with all the beautiful stones we have access to seeing. So how do you know if
it is true love? Or is the only reason we stop the madness is that we have reached our financial limit of what we feel we should/can/will
spend. I have no answer to that question. Maybe, the answer would be a combo of the stones in the long desired three stone. Maybe then,
you could have your cake and eat it too.

If you're looking for advice from the peanut gallery (and lord, aren't we always, um, full of it ) I'd say that although the AVC is absolutely incredibly gorgeous, you're never going to get as white or large of a diamond as you already have unless prices drop, right? And I know that you do actually like whiter stones, prefer them.
Honestly, an M- if the AVC is anything like my OEC- isn't low enough in color to look fancy yellow whatsoever. Or even particularly tinted in lots of light. What I'm getting at is, is it perhaps not quite either white enough and yet perhaps not colored enough either?
In my daily wearings of my own M colored stone, I can tell you- people notice 1. size, and 2. sparkliness. And color is a far, far distant third. In the original setting- which played up the color due to overly white melee in the halo- I would every now and again get someone notice the color. In the VC setting? Never. And trust me, people say exactly what they think usually. I get "wow, is that real?" approximately once a day. So it's not like they're biting their tongues! Even in the old setting, I would get people ask if it was a D color "because it's so sparkly". People equate high color with light performance, quite frequently. They just do. I really doubt the average joe will notice anything re: the color of the AVC, other than it looks beautiful and amazing.
Anyway, whatever you do do- it'll wind up with you wearing a gorgeous, large diamond! Hard to lose out, huh?
ETA: Oooh, I missed the decision post! I'm gonna guess it's keep the RB.

I haven't yet been through the whole thread, but I'm rooting for the round for you. As much as I love AVCs (and the one you have is very pretty), I was a little puzzled by you going to an M after reading your post(s) in the 'Mind Clean' thread, and I think that once the newness of the AVC has worn off, you'd be left with a tint that bothers you in some light. I know you don't like the color of your RB in certain light either, but it IS a more 'valuable' stone with 'higher' color, and it'd be worth more toward a trade-up should you choose, I'd assume.
Is keeping your RB and then later, when (if?) prices drop, sacrificing a tiny bit of size for a higher color an option? (And then making a gorgeous three-stone?) Because I'd vote for that.

Another thought - the RB is "worth more" - yes, you can get more for it in a sale than you paid, but a quick investigation into how much you'd have to spend to buy it new today leaves one gawking! The AVC obviously, is new, and subject to similar markup... and that knowledge would bother me, would it bother you?

You don't sound 100% satisfied with either stone so I think you will consign the RB and use the proceeds to buy a higher-colored AVC.

As for yr decision, I'm guessing you're keeping the RB for now, but you'll end up selling it or trading it in eventually for an AVC of a higher colour. There, that's my vote!

Thanks for sharing this incredible journey- it is very informative and a great process. It must be amazing to see two diamonds, on your hand, in different lights to discover which cut you like best over the course of several days.
