Texas is really expanding their cases it's scary. Since Abbott opened the state up all hospitalization rate is rising also. OK is a mess as is FL.. I'm not sure what to think anymore, most people don't get really very sick but if I got it, I would.. no one seems to care all that much about people over 55 and as you have pointed out, younger people get it and get sick too.. Sad state of affairs, good news is DACA is on hold and all Americans can hope to not be discriminated because of what they do in the bedroom or their inner self. I guess anyway..

And AL, TN, NC....

I just saw the story of a young newscaster who lost her father to covid19 when he returned to his job in a casino. He had diabetes, but needed to work to pay for his insulin as well as his other needs. The state where he lived (Arizona?) has just decided to allow localities to rquire masks for the first time. That casino also decided to close down. I am still feeling terrible, wanting to cry. I saw a picture of this young woman's father. It made it personal. I kept thinking, he needed his medicine. He had a God given right to his medicine. I feel so helpless. I just said a prayer.

That is so sad, And likely preventable, had AZ followed the precautions a lot of states took.

No one seems to care about ANY of the age groups. A perfect example is the fact that the states are sending their children back to school. This virus poses a danger to everyone. No one seems particularly concerned for my age group 18-49. We contract the virus at the highest rate of any age group. Our seniors are in great danger because they die at a higher rate.

Because of our leadership, we are all living in an instance of survival of the fittest or every man for himself. Luckily, Trump will get to hold his rallies so that he can ensure votes at election time. Too bad he missed the point. Protecting the nation’s citizens should have been his highest CALLING.

I think I've finally accepted that people make their own choices, and I can't let their choices affect how I feel for better or worse. My anger and frustrations aren't going to change others' actions. Even though others' actions have an indirect affect on my health and the health of innocent people (due to others' lack of precautions leading to additional cases/waves and risks). I can only control my own environment and myself. So unfortunately, if this means 1-2 years of isolation, then it is what it is. I just need to be kind to myself, which probably means retail therapy, since I can't do any of the things I value and normally would prioritize (spending time with family/friends, traveling, trying new restaurants, etc.)

I hope I can reach a more philosophical stage in my own emotional arc soon.
For now, I'm infuriated.
There are 22,000 newly confirmed cases today. 2.2million infected and 120,000 dead in the US, alone. Today.
The numbers certainly say we are within our first wave. It hasn't even begun to abate yet. I don't know what else can be done to make aMErica understand that this effects us all and we have seen something like this before.

I'm sorry to vent, but it's maddening and sometimes I cannot contain my ire.

My niece is feeling better thankfully though she says she feels tired... Those of her kids that had symptoms did indeed recover and she did get the kids with no symptoms tested. The one we worried about did indeed have it but she only had a runny nose runny nose for couple of days....weird....Obvs because she has sickle cell they're watching her very close to make sure she has no complications.

One of the boys got pretty sick but recovered well. She has to be tested again before allowed back to work, to which, thankfully they are still giving her a paycheck while she's out but she's already told me she's losing her mind....lol

Florida Keys have a mask required mandate for public places and thats for everyone. Martin County has mandate for masks indoor for food and service workers, but the public its strongly encouraged. Its strongly encouraged in PBC, but not mandatory and cases are on the rise here quite sharply.

"New daily cases have hit records in 12 states, and the White House acknowledges preparing for a fall wave."

"Peter Navarro, the White House director of trade and manufacturing policy, said in an interview on Sunday that the White House was working to prepare for the possibility of a second wave of the coronavirus in the fall, though he said it wouldn’t necessarily come.

'We are filling the stockpile in anticipation of a possible problem in the fall,' Mr. Navarro told Jake Tapper on the CNN program 'State of the Union.' 'We’re doing everything we can.'

The comments come in contrast to President Trump’s repeated assertions that the virus will 'go away' and his questioning of its ability to last into the fall and winter.

But if anything, the virus is gaining ground. Nationwide, cases have risen 15 percent over the last two weeks. Cases are rising in 18 states across the South, West and Midwest. Seven states hit single-day case records yesterday, and five others hit a record earlier in the week."

"Public Health Experts Reject President’s View of Fading Pandemic"

"Contrary to Trump’s recent comments, specialists say, recent increases are real, and the virus is like a 'forest fire' that will burn as long as there is fuel."

"Public health experts warned on Sunday that the coronavirus pandemic is not going away anytime soon. They directly contradicted President Trump’s promise that the disease that has infected more than two million Americans would 'fade away' and his remarks that disparaged the value of evidence from coronavirus tests.

A day after President Trump told a largely maskless audience at an indoor rally in Tulsa, Okla., that he had asked to 'slow down the testing' because it inevitably increased the number of confirmed coronavirus cases, infectious disease experts countered that the latest rise of infections in the United States is real, the country’s response to the pandemic is not working and rallies like the president’s risk becoming major spreading events.

Dr. Tom Inglesby, the director of the Center for Health Security at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, said on “Fox News Sunday” that the spikes in confirmed cases in many states in the South and West are not simply a result of increased testing. Data show that the percentage of tests that are positive is increasing, he said, and in some states is accompanied by increased hospitalizations. In states like Arizona, Texas, North and South Carolina and Florida, he said, 'That’s a real rise.'

On 'Face the Nation' on CBS, Dr. Scott Gottlieb, the former commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, said, 'We’re seeing the positivity rates go up. That’s a clear indication there is now community spread underway, and this isn’t just a function of testing more.'”

Palm Beach County made masks in public mandatory.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — After a fierce debate, Palm Beach County commissioners unanimously approved an executive order requiring face masks in public in Palm Beach County.

Mayor Kerner said the new order will likely go into effect on Wednesday, and will be in place indefinitely. The penalty for violating the mandate would be a civil citation, possibly a fine, and will be enforced in public places. Children and those with a medical exemption are not required to adhere to the new mandate.

The debate on Tuesday turned heated, just seconds after it started.

As commissioners stood to give the Pledge of Allegiance, some members of the audience screamed it.

Just got back from Costco (masks mandatory) and a good # of people were wearing their masks under their noses. Grrrrr. It is hard to breathe with them on that is true but if you are in a store where it is mandatory please wear them on your mouth and nose. :/

I get it I really do. I had to wear one multiple times today and it was hot and it was challenging but I did it. It is hard wearing one for any length of time but it is important. We cannot always social distance and they do make a difference.

I see the inevitable coming. PSers please be safe. Sending good thoughts and well wishes to everyone.

I think this is wise, especially with our 'patriotic' noncompliance.

I actually pay less attention to the actual positives. if some of you guys only knew the backlog that there was in the labs down here... :oops2: so some of this is catchup. My biggest concern are hospitalizations and deaths and in the ares where we didn't see deaths the first go round, we're now seeing them. However, I'm highly pissed that the county caved during the first meeting and rushed to go to phase I. I bet they won't do that shit again!

The people now starting to get sick are 30 and under. be it having to do with the protests or the fact that people down here swear up and down your stepping on their freedoms by asking them to wear a mask (this is not a political thing down here as the outside news would have you believe....its D, R, and I!) or beach chasing (because they do) and of course going to bars. Thankfully my county didn't open the bars nor are they for a very long time (probably not until winter!). But we are also seeing restaurants having to close yet again but because staff is getting sick. I personally only do curbside where there's no contact or, delivery with no contact.

Also y'all should see the fights I get to look at on the Nextdoor app. Besides the usual HOA shenanigans about why a neighbor's lawn is 1/4 an inch too tall (or too short because it now doesn't match the rest of the neighborhood!!!), we now have the people complaining about they can't use their pools or their gyms.... I'm currently watching a doozy of a blow up and its not gotten beyond a pool but into someone bedroom...:???:

Lol. Mine isn't that bad. I wish I could access yours!

LOL I dont know, the these days with more people at home the allerts I get are out of this world...its LIT like a freaking fireworks display. At another HOA from what people have said on there and what I'm reading, they had an emergency meeting yesterday to discuss developments from PBC and how that affects their enclave and the requirements they'll have to put in place. so based on what I saw in the video on facebook (its all over the place!) shouting, fists thrown and a few chairs. I'm still reading that thread and its crazy...

Here's what I'm going to say, take it how you will..... These are from what I can see aside from some in police uniforms... peach looking people. I have no clue as to backgrounds and allathat...but yeah they looked peach.

On NextDoor someone said it was bunch of cop cars (I heard tons of cop sirens about 7:30 last night so could have been it!) and that a chichi got loose, bit a cop and the cop manhandled the dog, folk crying because the dog got taken, and folks were fighting. like 4 real fighting like on the ground hair pulling fighting. folks.are.losing.it.

Now see, my nextdoor is just "lost cat", "found dog", "does anyone have spare boxes for moving", "saw a coyote this morning". Nothing entertaining at all, though I could do without hearing about manhandled dogs! Maybe it's because we are not in an HOA? People in my immediate area mostly seem ok...even the peach ones ( - that cracked me up) almost all comply with masks at stores, etc. Not sure just what would set them off, but I'm sure something would. Maybe closing liquor stores?

I've seen a few of the normal stuff for lost pets and the like though not as much. I see mostly compliance, many stores require and people don't generally fight it

if they closed liquor stores here it would be a mutany.

CT just announced they are planning to reopen all schools at all grade levels in the fall. The state is leaving a lot up to individual districts to figure out. Masks will be mandatory apart from recess, meals and there will be "mask breaks". Desks will be moved as far apart as possible, and children will be clustered according to age and grade.

This is what my niece wrote on her FB, she is an RN in Phoenix, AZ.

Post from a friend XY. Just one hallway on my unit What you can't see in this picture:

That we're having to paralyze patients to help them breathe on the ventilator

That it takes 5 or more of us to flip patients who are on ventilators onto their stomachs to help them breathe

That we are now above the capacity limits for the ICU, but just got told we're approved to take more patients (at 135% capacity now, but told expect to go to 150%)
That each nurse is taking more patients for a higher patient to nurse ratio
The defeat and exhaustion in each nurse, respiratory therapist, aide, and physician
The breakdowns that staff have on and off the unit; the bags under our eyes and marks on our faces from the masks and face shields we wear for our shift; the fact that we can't sleep even though we are exhausted and know we have to go back and do it all again.
So please don't tell me it's fake, not that bad, taken out of proportion for political reasons, etc......we see first-hand how bad it is and don't care about the political aspect, only in seeing less patients come into the hospital
