Hi there, my fiance has just spent more than he should have on a diamond and I want to help him find a relatively inexpensive setting. We're particularly interested solitaires and also in diamond band settings. They will need to be as thin as possible and quite delicate (my fingers are a size 4). Pics would be great too if you have any. Thanks!

This is my favorite ... I am 99% sure I am going with it, but I need to find my stone now.

The setting comes in just around $1700. The main ring can be purchased for around $880 if you want to do it solely. I am 4 3/4, and fell in love with this on my hand! It is so delicate ....

Wow Acrossley that is sooo beautiful!!! Simple, elegant and timeless, and I love the super-thin band. How thin is it? Is it about 1.7mm?

That is EXACTLY how thin it is! So funny ... great estimate!

I love these too - anyone know the rough price of them? :

Tacori 2503RD75

Mark Morrell petite torchiere

Mark Morrell fancy torchiere

Vatche Royal Crown

Stuller Solstice

- and does anyone know their width or which might look best on a little finger with a 1ct stone?

Wow I guessed right! I'm getting good at this! I've spent hours looking at thin settings.

I tried it on with a one carat, and it was truly lovely. I have 1.11 stone, but I'd like to go up a little if possible. I may stick with mine for now, and trade up later down the road.

I think I probably won't be able to upgrade my diamond - but I think 1 carat is probably the right size for my finger size. Are those prices for 18k white gold? And by the 'main band' do you mean the engagement ring? I would love this setting! It wouldn't overwhelm my diamond, but would make it 'pop' instead. My fiance isn't keen on micropave but in this setting I'm sure he'd love its simple elegance. I've got a hearts and arrows diamond from GOG and I think micropave would really bring out its delicate patterns.

GOG carries Gabriel & co settings which are reasonably priced. AFAIK they make a thin pave setting

These are all designer rings - Tacori is very pricey - Mark Morrell is custom - Vatche is another designer name - Stuller would probably be the cheapest of this group. You can ask GOG about Tacori, Mark Morrell and Vatche - probably Stuller too - as Jonathan carries all of these lines.

does anybody have this setting? there is a setting that looks like it and is also .14 cttw for $775 at a local jeweler i have been to....wonder if its the same one... i think i'm gonna call GOG and see if i can get a better pic from the side.

i wanted a custom super thin platinum ring but got worried about it getting beat up and destroyed too soon because its so thin so now i'm looking for a cheap one in WG so i don't have to worry too much if it ends up getting hurt.

Your stone looks lovely. I have recently learned of the H&A .... so beautiful! The price is for 18k, and I do mean the engagement ring by "main" ring. I have seen a couple of sites that sell them separately. My jeweler has it listed as a set. The micropave is very minimal ... I have seen some that really overwhelm the stone (IMO). I don't care for the overly encrusted or built up look ... although I think it's great on others, it never does the same for me. I have chosen the Simon G because it has an antique flair but is still simple and clean. Can't wait to hear what you choose!

I'm in the market for a super thin eternity band as well. Acrossley-Where is this from? It looks potentially perfect.

I have a Gabriel & Co. micropave set from Good Old Gold. The model # is ER 4181 and it is 18K white gold. I really like how thin and delicate the setting is and I also like that my wedding band is very thin as well. I wore it alone while we were snorkeling on our honeymoon but I could also wear it as/with a stacker. I've had my e-ring almost two years and the w-band since May and they've both held up very well IMO. Ring is a size 6.5, diamond is 1.05 J VS1 H&A.

ETA Sorry the picture is so huge! I wanted to also add that my bands are both 3/4 eternity.

that is the Simon G.

I probably wouldn't consider under 1.7-1.8mm for the reasons Kenny is pointing out. Maybe even 2.0 with diamonds on the shank.

But regardless, you might want to just call Marie at Good Old Gold. They have lots of non-designer settings that will be much better priced, although I think the Gabriel ones are reasonable.

Did you see this one?

It is a GOG setting and you could pair it with a diamond wedding band. I think it is gorgeous and the shank would be more durable than a thin pave one.
