#JOTW AJ''s James Meyer Garnet bezel ring..

...Is finally here!!

After only a two month wait and one drive to the *Airport* to pick it up - (don''t ask!), I have my ring!

Stats:
Cushion cut Umbalite Garnet from Gene at Precision Gem, 3.1cts, 8.62mm. Colour 5 and clarity 4+ (original thread here).

What can I say about this gem, I love it! I know many people may think it odd setting a reasonably inexpensive stone
like garnet in a nicer setting, but I couldn''t be happier

My Fi''s birthstone is garnet and mine is ruby, so I got a *kinda* ruby-coloured garnet

Hand forged setting in 18k yellow gold with platinum bezel and side-wraps, style #1345
from the wonderful Mr James Meyer. This setting is, imho, perfection - Jim is a true master and a gentleman,
I could not recommend his services higher !

Of course, I must thank my friend Coati, without who I would still be ignorant of JM and would not own
this gorgeous ring - Thanks hon

Wow. That is absolutely beautiful! My birthstone is a garnet, so I have a special appreciation for them I have also loved all the James Meyer rings I have seen on PS--in fact, someday I hope to redesign my ring and get one of my own! I love the color of your garnet--gorgeous ring!

That hand is a size 4.75 - 5, I got this ring in a 5.
It was intended to be a RHR, on which I''m a 6 - but at the last minute I got worried that because it''s so delicate I may ruin
it on my right hand, so I changed it to the 5. I think once I''ve worn it a lil I will get it resized to the 6..

No, I still haven''t. It''s hard to decide how the ring will look. The pad is very delicate and could be pretty easily overpowered. Not to mention it''s on the shallow side so the profile wouldn''t be as lovely as yours. I''m the same size as you on my left but would get the ring in 5.5 for my right (and I could wear it on my left then as well). My stone is 8.38 N/S and 6.06 E/W. Hard to figure out what that will do for scale, but your ring gives me a good idea. Honestly, I think it looks better with larger stones like yours, even though he does seem to work with a lot of stones a bit smaller (and they still look lovely, but just my preference).

I also want rose gold, but think it could over power as well. And yet I don''t want two tone, which is what JM recommended if I had to have the rose gold.

I so wish my hands weren''t such different sizes, the weirdo that I am! I am thinking mine will have to be 5.75 minimum, preferably 6, to
fit my RH comfortably, than it will def. be too big for my left...

but I will get it resized at some point, I don''t like having to choose between this and my ering

anyway, back to yours.. I do see your points..your stone is quite close to mine, I hope it helps a lil...honestly, the setting is soooo delicate IRL,
when I look at it from arms length all I see is the pink cushion with a couple dots of gold next to it

So, in that sense I think the pad and
this delicate setting would be a good match, kwim?

Is there a reason you don''t like two tone? I think RG with plat would be so pretty for you..seriously, you can hardly tell the plat
bits are there in person, but I love the balance it gives..I hope that makes sense??
