I have a 1 ct pear that I want to reset. Who made your setting? It's very pretty!I bought a beautiful pear (1.6ct) in December as a wedding set upgrade. By May, it was in my jewelry box. It snagged on everything. Of course this is just my experience. I now am looking to sell it (eventually) and it’s sitting loose at a jewelers as I was going to trade it in on a round or oval.
Here’s a picture. It’s smaller than you asked for but I wear a 5.25, so it might be a similar proportion.

I bought it at Helzberg. It’s even prettier in person, IMO.I have a 1 ct pear that I want to reset. Who made your setting? It's very pretty!

It may be set too high? Mine is set in a halo, very low and I haven't had any problems with it.
Where do you get that measuring tool, its just what I've been looking for, cant find it no matter what search terms I useNot sure how much this will help. This is a picture of a 2 carat oval and 2 carat pear (using the default sizes) on a size 6 finger.
IMO the default sizes always run a little bigger than real life stones (for fancy cut stones). BTW, fancy cut stone dimensions can
vary widely due to depth/girdles. When you are comparing stones be sure to look at the LxW and not just carat size.

Stunning!!!!
I think you’re right that the setting could have contributed the majority of the issue I had. I’m sure the fact that it didn’t have a halo to add bulk to the point also contributed. At the end of the day, it was a perfect storm of things that led me to realize that it wasn’t the one for me. But I certainly adore pears for others!
OP: I wouldn’t steer you away from a pear. They can be stunning and very flattering! Maybe just pay attention to the setting and how it might impact things with a pear?
This corner end prong is far to high off the stone (likely for protection purposes), and is the cause for scratching, snagging & grabbing.
I believe if you ask the jeweler to shorten it, or change that prong to a v-prong, or reverse v-prong, that solves your problem.
It’s very beautiful; the pear, and the setting. That one prong throws the whole thing off, and is creating havoc!
I’d hate to see you replace it with an oval, if it only requires a simple fix!
Thank you for sharing your lovely pear!!!![]()
