I don''t think that I have a reputation here...I think that I tend to get lost in the shuffle, lol.
I do try to always be nice and respectful of others.
You always say nice things in SMTR D*D.

Do you think you have a certain reputation at Pricescope? Are you conscious of maintaining that when you post. Do you give more credence to a poster if you feel they have a good reputation here?
1. Don''t know, and try not to care.

2. I try to be very careful how I word things, as the written word doesn''t pick up inflection or context, sometimes. Often times I erase a long reply and just leave a one liner. (here''s an example: I was going to say that people can react at something that someone else writes because the tone is misunderstood...so to avoid that at all costs I limit what I write opinionwise.....). That old rule from Grandma: "if you don''t have something good to say, than don''t say anything". The inverse of that, is that I also refrain from the flowery gushy stuff because that too, feels disingenuous sometimes to me, (IMVHO)

3. I don''t know about giving ''credence" to a poster who has a good reputation here, because the idea of a reputation on PS would be subjective to each of us. I am constantly amazed at the gems of wisdom that come out of people on different threads....The maturity of some very young (and, not so young!) posters gives me pause sometimes. I have learned so much about human nature since lurking and joining this forum. It has helped me to understand better, some of my very young staff. And for that I am grateful.

LS

I do want to say that I appreciate all of you and what you add to my day. I run my business out of the house by telephone, primarily, so I don''t get to socialize much. I usually have a pricescope window open so I can socialize with you.

Am I conscious of my 'reputation' when I post? I am conscious of the image I would like to project here, certainly. I do not want to be seen at my worst, as I might be in a screaming match with my spouse or my daughter! (I am often, then, foaming at the mouth.) I do allow the 'real me' to be seen, however. I wear my heart on my sleeve and show my feelings of anger about injustice and sadness pretty openly. I also share stories about my family fairly openly.

Do I give credence to a poster with a good reputation here? That depends on what one means by 'reputation'. If one means, 'the general opinion held of the poster', the answer is no. If there were a poster whom everyone revered and I did not, I would not give credence to that poster's views. On the other hand, if one means by reputation the record that a poster has made for himself, as I see it, of course I give credence to it! How could I not give credence to my own opinions?

I think Deb summed up points two and three very elequently. (as always)

As for the first question... yes, I think I have one. I'm not entirely sure what it is though I'm sure 'grumpy' is a part of it.

Gypsy,

I think you are fair and funny and smart. You were the first PSer who was really nice to me. *Grumpy* doesn't come to mind at all!
Aww, thank you, iluvcarats. It's very easy to be nice to you... you are an absolute sweetheart and definitely 'sunshine.'

Are you conscious of maintaining that when you post. I try to be polite and respectful whenever I post.

Do you give more credence to a poster if you feel they have a good reputation here? Depends. Some people are so sweet and kind. Others know a lot about certain topcis (diamonds, colored gemstones, etc.)

Hi,
I have no idea if I have a certain reputation. I wouldn''t mind knowing if I did, although I am a bit sensitive so in all honestly, would only want to know the nice things
9.gif

I am not conscious of maintaining my reputation since I don''t know what it is, but I am conscious of being considerate to others and trying to be helpful when I can. I don''t post much mainly b/c I really only post when I feel I have something useful to say.

I don''t really read posts based on who wrote it. I read based on the topic. There are some posters that I see more than others so I might gravitate to their posts but not always. It really does depend on the topic. I also tend to skim so if there''s a lot of responses, I start skimming b/c I''m lazy, not b/c a certain person wrote the answer. There are some threads I''d like to read more often, mainly b/c of the posters and the interesting conversation, like the Healthy Living thread but I just can''t find the time to read through all the posts.

As for *my* rep-I think it depends who''s reading my posts! In ATW I''m pretty sure the conservatives think I''m a snarky, mean liberal, but the liberals all seem to like me! And I am perfectly fine with that!
2.gif

As for the rest of the boards, I have no idea...feel free to fill me in!

And to answer the original questions, I am not conscious of trying to maintain any reputation. And I think I probably give more credence to the posters I like the best!
