My first thought when I''d finished reading this thread was - WOW!!! all the big guns are here!

Everyone who I class as being the core of PS has responded to this thread, albeit a few missing but I''m sure they''ll appear over the next few days.

I quite like sitting in the shadows and popping in every now and again to add my tuppence worth and I''m quite content not having a rep at all.
Sissy!

Am I conscious of my ''reputation'' when I post? I am conscious of the image I would like to project here, certainly. I do not want to be seen at my worst, as I might be in a screaming match with my spouse or my daughter! (I am often, then, foaming at the mouth.) I do allow the ''real me'' to be seen, however. I wear my heart on my sleeve and show my feelings of anger about injustice and sadness pretty openly. I also share stories about my family fairly openly.

Do I give credence to a poster with a good reputation here? That depends on what one means by ''reputation''. If one means, ''the general opinion held of the poster'', the answer is no. If there were a poster whom everyone revered and I did not, I would not give credence to that poster''s views. On the other hand, if one means by reputation the record that a poster has made for himself, as I see it, of course I give credence to it! How could I not give credence to my own opinions?

I think Deb summed up points two and three very elequently. (as always)

As for the first question... yes, I think I have one. I''m not entirely sure what it is though I''m sure ''grumpy'' is a part of it.
3.gif

Gypsy,
I think you are fair and funny and smart. You were the first PSer who was really nice to me. *Grumpy* doesn''t come to mind at all!
Aww, thank you, iluvcarats. It''s very easy to be nice to you... you are an absolute sweetheart and definitely "sunshine."

LOL We''ve been at opposite ends of a ''discussion'' on ATW -- you''re not invisible to me!

1. Do you think you have a certain reputation at Pricescope?

I didn''t think so until just recently when Musey responded to a post of mine that she was shocekd to hear that I have multiple piercings and tattoos. Then others said something about it too, and I realized that I must seem like an uppity fuddy duddy all because of my love of etiquette. It was shocking, because in real life I''ve always been a rebel and a black sheep, so it just made me laugh out loud. (And really, I only love etiquette so much because I love F. Scott Fitzgerald, and his work naturally led to studies of the manners-born. I swear!)

Honestly, though, I think I''m more of a wallflower here. I post a lot, but I don''t think I have a strong enough "voice" on PS to really have a reputation beyond "fuddy duddy prim-and-proper etiquette maven Haven." HA! If you only knew . . .
27.gif

If I did have a reputation, I''d be interested in hearing what it is, though.

2. Are you conscious of maintaining that when you post.
No. I''m not really into self-identifying as anything at all, so I just write my honest response when I post.

3. Do you give more credence to a poster if you feel they have a good reputation here?
No, but I do tend to pay more attention to my favorite posters. I sometimes have a hard time with posters who change their avatars because I identify people by their avatars, so sometimes I don''t remember who people are at all once their pictures change.

Marian, catmom, MC, Musey, Diamante--I love reading all of your posts! I don''t think any of you are in the background AT ALL. In fact, there are many posters whose posts and threads I''ll skip to and read first, and you five are definitely in that group for me.

Gwennie--You are like a hot cup of cocoa with little marshmallows in it--comforting, sweet, and someone to look forward to spending time with. If that counts as a reputation, that''s what I think of when I think of you.

Hey, guys
35.gif

I just wanted to say I enjoy reading everyone''s posts even when we don''t all agree. It is good to get a different perspective sometimes. And I LOVE to admire everyone''s gorgeous bling!

Oh, and I have no idea if I have a reputation or not, but hopefully if I do it is a good one!

I bet we''d get along wonderfully in real life because of your "rebel" status. My life has been filled with my fair share of wild times (stuff I''d never dare post online)

I forgot cupcake/baking guru. Other than that(and the other things I mentioned, as well as a couple of things I DO NOT mention), I don''t know what kind of reputation I have. I know that I''m not as nice in real life, and I use a LOT more 4 letter words.

And some of the posters who have mentioned being "wallflowers", you guys are some of my favorite posters and I look forward to your posts and what you have to say. (And I miss you when you stop posting for a little bit!)

Hey MC, well spotted.

I'm a huge fan and love all Joss Whedon productions, in fact my wonderful DH just designed the most beautiful mug for me tonight with the Wash quote which I can use when I start my new job in a few weeks.
Po - You have to post a picture of your mug for me to see! The reason I recognized the quote is because I've seen Serenity at least 15 times! "River" is my idol. lol

Oh, and although the Sarah Connor's Chronicals isn't all that great (kind of good, but also a bit so-so), Summer Glau is serious butt kicker in that show in that show too.

Since I want to make an articulate and complete response to posts I often let my input slide because it is time consuming to compose such responses. Also, if my inclination is to begin a response with ''Fool,'' I usually restrain myself and click away.[/i]

Diamante, if you make people log in just to say hi to you and because they want to make it known how much your posts are appreciated, I''d say that''s rather impressive! You are one of my absolutely fave posters because when you take the time to reply, your sincerity really shines through. It''s not just some random "Hey, that''s pretty" comment that takes 20 seconds to submit, you know? I''m sure we all have our favorite posters, but I don''t think I would be alone when I say it''s thoughtful and insightful posts like yours are what keep me on PS! (As for your reputation, you''re totally up there with Madame Bijoux and DiamondFan on my list, anyways, for impeccable taste and sensibility!)

EBree, I think you are witty and smart! (Probably doesn''t hurt that I agree with approximately 100% of your posts over in ATW!)

As for *my* rep-I think it depends who''s reading my posts! In ATW I''m pretty sure the conservatives think I''m a snarky, mean liberal, but the liberals all seem to like me! And I am perfectly fine with that!
2.gif

As for the rest of the boards, I have no idea...feel free to fill me in!

And to answer the original questions, I am not conscious of trying to maintain any reputation. And I think I probably give more credence to the posters I like the best!

No one should feel ignored! There are lots of times (more often than not) that no one responds to me, but I don''t take it personally at all. Because I assume they don''t for the same reason I don''t many (most) times, you just can''t respond to everything you want to, or you look like a post whore.
