Your Latest Jewelry Purchases/Things You're Considering....

As a follow up to my last post in April, I finally received my finished moval ring maybe 2 weeks ago and have been lazy to post :cheeky:

But here she is, my new (antique) 1.98ct N SI2 moval diamond from Gilded Lane in an antique inspired platinum setting with tapered diamond shoulders, hidden halo and engraving by David Klass. I purchased the diamond as a Mother's Day + life milestone gift to myself this year and I'm so pleased with how it turned out.

I can't even describe how bright and insanely fiery the moval is, and the setting just makes me swoon every time I wear it o_O I think I have almost walked into people on the street because I'm busy staring at it lol

Goodness…. That’s so beautiful!

Thank you everyone. It's breathtaking in person, pictures can't do justice. I did a photo shoot yesterday and will try to take some better ones for a full SMTB soon. I wasn't sure there would be interest since this is one of her stock designs that we've all seen before.

We’d still love to hear what made you choose it, how the process was, diamond deets, size for reference, is it comfortable, see lots more pics, etc!

Hi MMtwo. I can’t tell what that is between the diamond and the halo. Is that metal? What do you think of this setting? I don’t think it would give you quite as much real estate but I think it’s lovely.
IMG_1034.jpeg

This is also beautiful! I ordered the previous setting, then cancelled the order. I need to rethink the plan.

It doesn't disappear to me, I love that diamond and the setting (1980s, sorry). I have a 1.17 K that it resembles. But your new setting idea is beautiful, too.

I love your inspiration emerald cut! As mentioned above. I cancelled the reset with that design. I need to think this one through better. I have enjoyed the chunky setting, but would like a bigger look. Nod to the 80's ;)

I took a chance on a ruby ring for the price of the setting. I think it's mid-20th century Japanese, but not sure. No clue how big the ruby is--anyone want to guess? (The ring is finger size 4.5.) I'm hoping it will turn out to be a natural star ruby, but if not, at least I got an entertaining platinum-and-diamond setting.

These are the seller's photos; next it goes to the selling platform's authentication service, then to me.

Looks like a potential match for the Delong Star Ruby, right? (kidding):

This is my new 3 stone ring that my husband gave me as an early 50th. Gold and diamond prices are going up so much so we decided to do this now instead of next year. I had a solitaire with pave before so I added two .30 rounds to make a 3 stone in platinum. I love it so much!

This is beautiful!

Do you mind sharing the dimensions of the center stone, or weight, for reference?

Do you find that it gives you much more visual impact than the solitaire alone? I ask because I'm trying to figure out how to give my e-ring more ooomph.

I am getting DSS. No, I have DSS. This 1.7 emerald cut L just disappears on the finger. Not the best stone (si2) with a bunch of crystals, but particularly windowed at the outer edge. I can't upgrade, so will need to reset it. This is a strong blue to boot, and I sort of love that.

Please give me your thoughts on this setting at Ritani. I always thought it was pretty. I would set in platinum. I think it would visually strengthen the outside edge of the stone and get my real estate boost.

Do it! I did a similar reset for my mom’s emerald cut and I love it!

I wonder if you can get DK to give you a quote for a custom setting with L colored melee so you have a point of comparison.

My solitaire was .90 J VSI. Adding the two stones on either side and making it Platinum made this ring so much more substantial on my size 5 finger. My solitaire setting with the pave was pretty but I was feeling like it just wasn’t substantial enough and changing it to this setting is perfect!

:) I love how we encourage each other. Glad it turned out well for her!
It turns out hubby did not love the one I liked and posted earlier, so I cancelled that setting. Now we're looking at a couple of halos on Ritani.

This is almost the same setting that holds my original e-ring, which I still wear

Dunno, maybe in gold?

Ooooh, or maybe this:

It is gorgeous and looks fantastic on your hand!

My CvB Cora set with my first antique OEC is arriving tomorrow! :appl:

So beautiful. And it got me thinking: Is there a thread with just CVB Inspired Design jewelry? I searched, but couldn't find one. I don't have any of her pieces, so I encourage you to start one with this beauty. It really helps others with their projects if you also give some stats, like carat weight and color.

Wear her in great happiness!

ETA: A thread does exist, just didn't search on the correct word. Please add yours here

I fell in love with a 4ct Princess Cut bar set tennis bracelet after trying it on in one of the shops in London's Hatton Garden some years ago.

Although I can afford to get one, I can't justify the expense as I would rather spend the money on a strand of blue Tahitians instead.

When I was browsing Berricle for a replacement costume tennis bracelet for the one I bought from them that I have misplaced, I came across a PC bracelet in bar set in Rhodium plated silver, and thought why not?

So it is on its way to me as I type!

DK :lol-2:

It passed authentication, so I can be confident it's platinum, diamonds, and a ruby of some sort--hoping for a natural star (rather than a mere synthetic cabochon). Waiting for it to cross the continent to me...

Now it's out for delivery...hoping the letter carrier actually rings my doorbell instead of just sticking a slip in my mailbox and making me pick it up at the post office myself later in the week...

I'm on a hopefully-star-corundum kick this month. This ring was listed as a 9 carat star sapphire without any photos showing the star. (Why are sellers so reluctant to shine a flashlight at their star sapphires?) I won it for what seemed like a fair price for the setting alone. It's inscribed with initials and a date in June, 1942, which was part of the draw for me--I LOVE pieces with dates.

I hope it's a nice star sapphire. It looks promising, anyway. It's on its way to the authenticator, then to me. (Unless it fails authentication for some stupid reason, like the seller slightly miscalculated the gem weight or the x-ray-measured metal purity doesn't quite match the stamp, and the sale gets canceled. I do not love these authentication services.)

Wish me luck!

Best of luck! That setting is divine along with a star sapphire, uff! This is a beautiful find!

I can't believe I maligned my ANGEL of a mailman! Not only did he deliver the package into my hands, but he actually CAME BACK to my building to do it, after trying when I was out this morning.

Me: You came back! In this heat! Are you an actual angel?
Mailman: Nah, I just care about my people.

As I hoped, it's a natural star ruby. It's an intense, somewhat purplish magenta in the shade and hot pinkish red in the sun. Tons of red fluorescence. A definite, centered, somewhat blurry star. Lots of silk, zoning, cracks/feathers, and other inclusions, some of which reach the surface--the clarity is the worst thing about it. If I'm calculating correctly, it's about 2 1/2 carats--WAY bigger than I expected. (The seller didn't give the dimensions.) A fabulously ornate platinum setting with natural diamonds.

Here's a taste--I'll give it its own thread.

It passed authentication and supposedly will be here on Wednesday. I can't wait to see what the star looks like!
