Who Who is Diamond Fan?

Are you a laywer or an do you have an MBA?

A fledgling lawyer.

what type of law are you practicing? He of course uses bankruptcy lawyers, real estate lawyers, etc, at international firms. He has learned so much about the law through the years that many lawyers he meets with assume he is one and ask where he went to law school!

Good for him!

I will probably be practising tax. I have done some private equity work and find it interesting. I'd also like to explore bankruptcy law.

My hubby is honestly, and objectively, one of the most brilliant men I know. He is just super smart and very savvy business wise. And he is also very into what he does, which is so great. I am lucky he is successful AND loves what he does, makes it easier for all of us with the long hours.
What does your guy do? When is your wedding? Have not seen a post about that if you did post it!

My other half is a junior partner in a hedge fund (it's NY-based, or I'd really be knocking at your hubby's office door). Like your hubby, he absolutely loves his work. How lucky!

We've been engaged for a while -- grad school and law school got in the way. We will be getting married next summer. It will be something small as we're rather quiet people.

That sounds nice. We had a large wedding, smaller than if my dad had been alive, but still largish, and it caused a lot of needless stress.

Are you from the States originally?

I am so happy that your guy likes his job. My hubby is very driven and loves to do well, he also has a great sense of integrity and really wants to leave things better than he found them. He loves to make money but he is also socially and environmentally aware, and really tries to contribute of himself to local and national charities and events. I am really proud of him.

I''m not American. How did you guess?

Your hubby sounds like an upstanding citizen. We''d also like to give back to society when we''re a little more settled.

By the way you spelled behaviour with a u. I know British people spell it that way...my sister is married to an Englishman and I noticed some of the differences! Just a random guess.

I think it is important to give back. I sometimes feel so overwhelmed with all the material things we have, and my kids have, and I think about those who barely know if they can feed themselves or their kids. I know I cannot solve the world''s issues, but certainly I think it is so vital to find causes near and dear to your heart. The American Cancer Society and Make A Wish, and any group dealing with sick children gets my money. I like to keep some of it local, and the rest I send to larger organizations and know it is part of something much bigger.

Good guess. Btw, is it true that Americans leave 2 spaces after each full stop (sorry, period)?

Yes. So you would end with your punctuation and then hit the space bar twice.

Where are you from in the UK? I love England, my mom lived there for a while many years ago and my hubby has family there.

Oh, I''m not British. I do come from an ex-colony though. Guess?

Well, could be Hong Kong or New Zealand or Australia...I am terrible at this sort of thing!

Singapore, via Sydney. Would love to live in London for a while though.

So I was somewhat close!

Did you meet your FI overseas or here? Do you like it in NY or in the US in general?

I met my fiance here. I feel right at home in NY. As for the US in general, I really like living here, though I''m partial to big coastal cities. Have you been to Singapore?

No, but would like to visit a lot of places in Asia. I have been to Tokyo and Beijing...those are my two cities I have been to in Japan and China. I just hate to fly so much that it makes it tough to do certain things. I do it, but hate the whole thing. It just scares me too much...

It''s a long way to Asia too. Can you sleep on flights?

No, too nervous, though I did take Xanax on the way home from Italy and that worked well. I tried Ambien and got sick from it. I also get stir crazy on flights, forgetting safety, I just hate that trapped feeling for hours and hours...no matter how many songs are on my ipod, or movies to watch or books and magazines, just knowing I cannot get off til it lands drives me bonky!

Oh dear. Have you tried Lunesta?

No. I have had really bad allergic reactions to meds of late and I am scared to try new things. My insomnia is terrible, but I just tough it out. (and end up tired most of the time!). I know people who swear these things are non habit forming or addictive but I just cannot take the chance.

Do you get to sleep in?

Sometimes, my older two kids take a private bus to their school campus and I drive my youngest because he is still young and I feel more comfy that way. I often go back to bed or if dh will drive him I sleep in...I LOVE to sleep in.

DiamondFan,
You are pretty popular. You will soon catch up to Mara and Kaleigh. Now, you just gotta add photos like Mara. hee hee

DF,

Can I tag along the next time you go diamond shopping in NY?

Skippy, I have posted a few! I think there are a few threads with some of my goodies...I happen to take the WORST pictures you can imagine, but just of my jewelry...I take really nice photos otherwise!

Harriet, if you can keep up you can come along! I exhaust my hubby with my focus and determination!!

You forget who you''re talking to!

No, but I am not called the shopping Queen of the Main Line for nothing...

I''ll be your disciple then.

Ha Ha...

Well, I went with a girlfriend to NY for a day of shopping. She is no slouch either, but she was wiped by the time we got back in the car. She was especially blown away by my masterful shopping in the Bergdorf''s make up dept and in Sephora...boom boom, full basket, out the door! She told me she was overwhelmed just watching me! I move quick and I know what I like. Hubby usually just sits back or plays with his Crackberry...
