Hi!
I am new to wearing rings and jewelry in general.
I was at a jewelry store today and saw a great looking 18kt white gold ring that I decided to purchase.
It's been a few hours and as I was looking at the ring, I've noticed a couple spots where there appears to be a light goldish stain on the ring.
Was the coating done poorly? Or is this merely a stain? I tried being delicate and used a little bit of water with a cotton swab, but it doesn't appear to be removed.

Thanks for all the help!

As @Daisys and Diamonds said- take it back to jeweler. I think it needs to be polished. Burn mark from the work that was done? I had a similar issue with one of my WG rings and a polish and new rhodium plating was all that was required.

Funny, I just used Tarn-X (the clear liquid) on my 18k yellow gold chain that had what looked like dark brown stains. Completely gone. Read the label: for silver, sliver plate, gold, diamonds, copper. I was skeptical, and I'm sure there are alarmists out there that will say, NO! Believe me, it works. Cotton on, wipe on, rinse off and dry.
