Having trouble deciding which diamond would be better for a yellow gold 6 prong setting, size 7.5. Is it worth getting the larger stone with the lower clarity?

Here is the info on diamond 1. I'm concerned about the inclusions found along the side. In the 3d video it was definitely noticeable on top, but im wondering if a six prong setting would cover it up? Total price with setting $11,151.

Here is diamond 2. Here i am concerned about the clouds on the bottom. They seem large, but because they are on the bottom would they matter at all? I dont see anything in the video provided. Total price with setting $10,819.

Are you married to one of these two stones? These aren't proportions we would typically recommend, so want to make 100% sure you've seen (and love) 60/60 style diamonds rather than ideal cut parameters.

it was recommended to me that 60/60 proportions were ideal..is that not the case?

That is not the case--at least not anymore. I forgot when it was thought that 60/60 was ideal, but I think maybe a few decades ago. Now we (on PS), and many others suggest different parameters.

There is some variation, but in general here is the recommended set of measurements to look for:

Table: 54-57
Depth: 60-62.4
Crown angle: 34-35
Pavilion Angle: 40.6-40.8 (in some cases, going to 41 is ok).

These measurements alone don't guarantee an ideal stone. But if you stay within these measurements AND use the HCA tool (linked at the top) and find a stone that scores 2 or less, it's likely to be a good performer. We also usually suggest that people get an ASET/idealscope to assess light performance.

Thank you so much!! If you were to choose one of these diamonds, which one seems like the best option?

Not trying to be harsh, but I honestly wouldn't choose either. Neither one will be a great performer, and I personally would get a smaller carat stone with a significantly better cut.

Anything over 2 on the HCA should be "Rejected", and both of these are above 5, so it's a hard question to answer about which one is "best". For this amount of $ I'd want an ideal cut stone with excellent performance.

alrighty, thank you!

Hi Lovesdogs, Crafted by Infinity does not brand any diamond, of any clarity, if it has durability concerns. :wavey:

I figured!! It's a lovely stone

Echo the others on the proportions. You can get a much prettier stone if not married to either of these.

I will try to find some alternates.

FYI @lovedogs is being modest about HPD. She just used them to do a custom cut 1ct N VS1 and it was freakin' amazing! I'm not normally a fan of warm diamonds and this one has made me change my mind.

See below and determine if it's worth a call to them for a similar stone, but bigger. The drop to N may get you to the size you want!

and glam shots are here!
