Hi There,

I am thinking of 2nd pair of studs. Currently I have a 4 prongs wg in 2.50 ctw studs and I would love to have a 2nd pair for OMC cuts ~1.50ctw. I am thinking of bezel miligrain but I don't know how it will look since OMC is not round and little irregular shape. I've tried to search on PS for it but have not really locate one pair of studs. If someone here is savvy with search, I greatly appreciate a link or image.

My next question is what is the best earrings setting for OMC cut? I love to hear your inputs. Thank you!

Will you be wearing them together (two piercings per ear) or at different times?

If two piercings per ear IMO 1.5ctw is WAY too big. I love the look of multiple piercings but much prefer one "main" pair of studs (your 2.5ctw) and accents to the tune of <0.5ctw.

Separate studs: depending on how off-round they are bezels can be a fantastic choice to minimize the irregularities and make them both look symmetric. I have 2.5ctw OECs in 8prong settings and I've found that the multitude of prongs has a similar "rounding" effect - one of the stones is visibly off-round loose but you'd never note it IRL. If you want them to look white go with white metal heads - old cuts aren't cut to return direct light face-up and they tend to pick up colour from their surroundings more than MRBs.

Hi Yssie! I have only one piercing per ear so I will be wearing it as separate. Your 2.5 ctw sounds delish. Would 6.5 mm too small for 8 prongs?

Did you by chance mean 5.5mm? 6.5mm would be more like 2-2.25ctw since old cuts tend to face-up smaller than RBs. I definitely don't think 6.5mm would be too small for 8 prongs - and I don't think 5.5mm is too small either! Especially if you choose a setting with more delicate prongs and a bench known for fine workmanship

Bastet's are 4.5mm each: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/thank-you-bgd-my-first-big-girl-studs-are-here.188069/

These are my darlings ::) You can see that the one on the left is sorta square-ish compared to the other... Yessie, yes you're right. I had made a typo, I meant to say 5.5mm, not 6.5mm. Your OEC studs are stunning. I could not detect one w/ less perfect round. Thank you for sharing Bastet and Stargurl studs, both are very pretty.

I just swapped my OMC's out of 6 prong basket settings into 3 prong martinis. they are roughly 5.4mm each and a bit off round. They're stock settings, and you wouldn't have to go custom with bezel/milgrain

Buttercup settings are era-appropriate and can help to disguise irregular shapes: that said, I'm with Yssie (as usual :rodent: ) in loving both bezels and 8-prong settings. It's all about what appeals to your eye - OMCs were commonly used from the 17th c. through the Art Deco period. So is there an aesthetic in there that really appeals to you? This is a great way to celebrate it!

Davi, your studs are gorgeous. I always love martini settings and want to reset my current 2.5ctw but I just don't have courage to do so. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Circe! I am leaning toward handbezel milgrain round because the bezel will mask irregularities and project the girdle and it will match w/ the OEC pendant in which it's in progress. The milgrain octagon is also intrigued me. I also love 3-prongs martini in which I always wanted one. I am still exploring options. I still have to source the match OMC.... only have 1 stone on hand.

Regarding the 3 prong martini > I am actually sitting at the computer without my 2.40 studs on. I bought them in February and my right ear is so sore from the prongs that I need to give it a break. I have tried taking them out every night and I have also experimented with leaving them in for a month.

either way the left hole is starting to stretch out and I am concerned so I have bacitracine on it and will keep them out for a couple of day.s

don't get me wrong I love them Love them love them. The stones set flush with my ears but I am still concerned with my ears ripping.

Any suggestions.

Regarding your OMC I like the bezel idea :appl:
