Friday is almost here. Woo hoo! I went to the mall tonight to pick up some rings I had sized and was very tempted by a tanzanite bracelet. They had it in the store before Christmas. It’s about 8 carats of tanzanite and ½ carat of diamonds; it’s gorgeous! She was telling me she’d let me have it for 50% off. I sighed and said thanks but I can’t right now. Rats.
Rod, I agree with you; real chicken soup is magical. I make it with homemade noodles and love it when I’m sick. Sorry to hear Charlie is feeling under the weather; I hope he gets better soon. You guys deserve an occasional night off because you do workout so much.
Kimberly, I know what you mean about the medicine; I think it drops my IQ about 20 points. I''m in agreement with you that doing our weekly weigh in makes us more accountable. Two pounds aren’t really that bad but they sure are aggravating.
Skippy, sorry to hear you felt bloated taking your walk after eating. It doesn’t seem like my ½ pound was quick to leave at all, I think tomorrow I’ll be back to where I was. Good for you taking a break tomorrow.
Tdiddy, you certainly did a lot of workouts today. I hope you enjoy your Mexican meal but not all of it. Ha Ha.
Monarch, congratulations on loosing 3 pounds. That is exciting! It looks like we will only be camping on Saturday night. My husband didn’t get everything ready for the garage. I guess we have to tie down everything in there or it gets tossed all over the place. I suggested we take Thursday and Friday off next week and take a long weekend. Maybe we can have a mini vacation.
Well, I need to paint my fingernails and get to bed.
Take care and dream of beautiful jewels tonight – they are as sweet as candy and not fattening at all. Maybe I''ll dream of me wearing the tanzanite bracelet and wearing size 10 jeans. Sweet!

OMG, I just lost a LONG post! I am too annoyed to retype.............

29.gif

Alright, I was bad yesterday and ate some gelato. And had a couple of drinks. And didn''t do cardio. But today I''m back at the gym for sure!

Morning all! TGIF!!!! I promise I will catch up w/your posts tonight!!!

I am taking the day off from working out. hehee
9.gif

I meet hubby for lunch, I have a doctors appt for my allergies (I can't wait for a little relief), and I have a shopping trip planned to Costco for fruit and other needs.

ETA: Dixie, you may already know this but when I have a long post I highlight it and hit control and C at the same time (copy function). If it disappears I go back and hit control V at the same time (paste function).

I was bad yesterday too, mostly too much red wine which turned to sugar and woke me up promptly at 5 am, which is what always happens. Then I had 2 breakfast tacos this morning, tortilla and all. BUT no cheese in them, so at least they weren''t as bad as they could have been. Added lots of fruit, which makes me feel slightly better.

I too am in for Wednesday Weigh-In! Good idea, will keep me accountable.

Sorry to Charlie and Kimberly for being under the weather- totally agree that chicken soup is magic. And orange juice too seems to help (vitamin C). Hope both feel better soon!

Mara, funny about the cake. You''re way better at indulging than I am. I guess I''m afraid it might be like opening flood gates and not being able to close them again!!

Skippy, enjoy your day off from working out. At least I do take occassional days off, but not many. And, on Tony Little''s gym voice......he doesn''t utter a peep. He comes, does his thing and leaves without even talking to anyone. At least I''ve never heard his voice in the gym. As a matter of fact until I found myself standing next to him the restroom at the Palm, I had not heard his voice except on TV.

Dixie, sorry for your frustration. I''ve had that happen and it''s an aggravating experience for sure.

Marcy, sounds like a great deal on the bracelet, sorry you had to pass it up. Maybe if you ask Santa nicely, he''ll bring it and put it under your tree??

Good deal on the 3 pounds gone Monnie!! And good for you not being scaled obsessed and getting on the mean evil monster every morning. I''m betting your new job and being on your feet a good portion of the day is also helping you be more active and promoting the weight loss too. 20 minute workout is great on top of that too!

Yay for your fitness whirlwind tdiddy!!

It''s Friday!!!!!! YAYAYAYA Sushi, Active Culture Frozen Yogurt (yes, I''d eat it every single day if I could) and coffee under our oak tree at Sbucks this evening!

Have a great Friday afternoon everyone!

Happy Fri all!! I''ve really been glad to be tracking my cals in the online food diary. It is totally keeping me accountable. I seem to have lost the 2 lbs that keeps creeping on and off... hopefully for good. This means yet again, I''m at 22 lb lost from the all time high. About halfway there. Had a yum lunch today of whole wheat penne, tons and tons of veggies which I sauteed (no oil), a bit of tomato sauce. Very filling with all the veggies. Last night I made spinach and mushroom whole-wheat quesadillas. I can''t believe how much spinach cooks down! Trying to talk DH into sushi tonight, but since we will be eating out tomorrow night w/ friends, we might opt to stay in and cook. Have had some really good workouts lately too, lots of running and other cardio! Will probably do some weights today and a bit of elliptical. I have new running shoes on order and can''t wait to get them; I love the first few runs with new shoes.

the only thing tough about online tracking is that a lot of things are measured in oz and I don''t have a food scale. May have to get one. I just try and approximate using the # of servings per package. Also, sometimes I can''t tell if things are measured before or after cooking. Well even if I am a bit off, all this measuring and tracking is definitely good for me. I didn''t realize that I am eating 50-60 fat grams sometimes. I thought I was eating much less. Fortunatley, it''s mostly unsaturated and coming from the healthy sources like olive oil and avacado etc. My cals have been pretty much right in line w/ what I thought I was eating, (about 1800 on a workout day) but now I can see whether or not I can "afford" that evening snack or whatever.

One thing weird. if I burn like 700 cals, it adds 700 cals to my target cals for the day. Great to have that option, but, wouldn''t it totally wipe out my workout? So I don''t "eat back" all the cals I burn. Like I said I try and eat about 1800 and burn 6-800 most days.

hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

haha rod if by ''way better'' you mean i can have a gorgefest then get back on the wagon, yeah that is what i am good at, but i just really need to keep the gorgefests to a minimum in order to stay on the positive track i have been on for the last few weeks. and i feel so much better on the healthy eating program of course. just mentally and physically!!

so had my first meeting with the trainer today and she kicked my butt! basically she wants to work on spot training me with some high impact interval stuff and also muscle resistance. so we did all this work on my legs like diff hops and jumps and a lot of squats and jumps and lunges and jumps etc. burn burn burn. i was sweating up a storm. and then we did some back work...she wants me to strenghten up my back and shoulders in the back which will help give me a more defined look. and then abs, where she showed me the right way to do ab work and even just doing a small quantity of ab work made me feel that it was working way more than when i do it on my own. so i will def try that stuff out on my own at home in the meantime. but my legs are sore from today and my glutes and sides of hips (where we are spot targeting love handles and hips). so that''s awesome..i am excited. and she said she took it easy on me today, yikes!

so this evening i want to do a walk of some sort. eating today has been good thank goodness. we ended up getting sushi for lunch rather than the other place that i like which was so much better because way less temptations on bad things. had some edamame, iced tea, and shared some rolls with coworkers, just ate the insides of the rolls and whatever fish was on top. and had 2 thin slices of salmon sashimi.

i''m getting hungry again so a snack will be a ruth''s hemp bar in berry or a luna bar. for breakfast this am i had my cereal and berry mix and then after workout i had a 0% fage with berry jam and a splenda for some protein. funny but i eat a lot of protein but the yogurt protein ALWAYS makes my belly kind of bubbly noisy, does anyone else feel that way too? it''s kind of weird. i can eat 40g of protein with meats and eggs and whatever, and that digests just fine but a container of fage and my stomach starts speaking to me.

dinner tonite will be good for me in one way or another, either chicken tacos at our local fave place or a fruit citrus salad with grilled chicken at this other place. we shall see!! hope everyone is having a fabulous friday and looking fwd to the weekend, yay!!!!

I talked with my trainer today and straightened out the scheduling conflicts, and we''ll be on track as of tomorrow morning. My FI and I have 8:00 and 10:00 AM appts., and then a wedding to go to later in the day. I didn''t have the best day diet-wise, so I''m making up for it by having shrimp with old bay seasoning (which I''ve never had), spinach, and little red potatoes that I boiled last night to have with our salmon. I can''t remember what I "ordered" for the wedding reception tomorrow but it would have been either fish or chicken. I don''t think one can east terribly at a reception, unless overdoing it on the passed h''ors d''ouevres (did I spell that right?). I''m not much of a drinker, so if I have one or MAYBE two drinks, they won''t be big. Plus, it''s supposed to be 90 tomorrow, so I doubt I''ll feel like eating or drinking much.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention (I think), my FI and I are going to go running...well, walking with a few short sprints here and there, on Sunday with my dad. He told my mom that we''re welcome to go with him any time but he hasn''t mentioned it to me because he didn''t want to pressure me.

Happy Friday All!

I worked in an autistic classroom today and I''m wiped from all of the running around + my cold. I''d like to go for a walk tonight though, so at least I feel a bit productive! This week has been a wash regarding exercise between the heat and my being sick.

Rod, enjoy sushi!

Mara, have a nice dinner. Glad you had a great session w/ your trainer.

Zoe, great job on balancing good and not-so-good.

Happy evening all.

I guess that's what I meant Mara......LOL. You can have a, as you put it "gorgefest" and get right back on the wagon. I admire that. It also let's you have a bit more food fun as a result. I have difficulty doing that as you well know. Glad you had a great meeting with the trainer. You know how fond we are of our trainer.

Zoe, sounds like you're getting all set with your trainer too! They can really really help in so many ways. Enjoy your session and be good at the wedding, though it sounds like that's what you're planning anyway!

Gail, sounds like you're doing great!

Kimberly, I still so admire what you do and spending the day with a room full of autistic children is wonderful, courageous and I'm sure quite exhausting. I hope your cold is getting better and you and John got to take that nice walk this evening!

Sushi, was particularly good tonight. The owner of the restaurant came and sat with us for a long time. She's a remarkable woman and has built this amazing business all on her own. So, we did enjoy the visit and I don't know if it influenced the sushi chef, but it just seemed everything was just that much nicer. Maybe it was all mental, but it seemed that way. Then we put the top down on my car and drove along the waterfront to get to the Frozen Yogurt Shop, where we ran into our trainer and we sat and visited a while with him. It's nice to see him outside the gym. He's such a nice guy. And of course we finished the evening with our usual cup of coffee under the oak tree at Starbucks. It was another spectacular evening and we wound up sitting with people we knew casualy, but wound up enjoying their company for a couple hours at least.

The rest of our weekend will be relatively normal. Workouts both days, dinner out again, cook at home on Sunday.

I hope everyone's weekend is off to a great start!!

Hi everyone. Yeah, the weekend is here.
36.gif
I am so excited. We won’t be going on our camping trip until tomorrow, my husband is still working on getting all the hooks and cables in the garage.
I went grocery shopping tonight. They had slow churned buy 1 get 1 free. What a hard decision. I picked Cherry Chocolate Chip and Fudge Tracks. The Cherry is awesome. How can that stuff be so good and not really fattening?
Dixie, I am sorry to hear you lost your long post.
Inde, no worries taking a day off now and then; the important thing is you are right back to your routine today.
Skippy, I hope the doctor can help you with your allergies. I am supposed to take allergy shots but never make it in to get them. I always tell the nurse''s I thought I was cured. They just laugh. Enjoy the day taking it easy.
ChinaCat, red wine will do that to you. At least it’s fun getting there.
Rod, I’ve been thinking all day of how pretty the bracelet is and how I can come up with a justifiable reason to buy it. I’m such a jewelry hog. Good idea getting it for Christmas. I was toying with the idea of a ¼ carat anniversary band to wear with my wedding ring set; but I think I’d rather have the bracelet. Maybe when I get my mid term check next month I’ll go see if I can get a better deal (probably not but you never know). It sounds like you had a marvelous night. That is nice the owner came over and talked to you and Charlie. It shows she knows her good customers.
Gail, that is wonderful you are half way to your goal and congratulations on loosing 22 pounds. I would recommend you get a scale; I found I was underestimating what I can eat and weighing out something in grams or oz results in more food than you get in measuring cups.
Mara, it sounds like your trainer is going to put your through some serious workouts! I hope you enjoy it.
Zoe, I hope you and your FI have a real productive meeting with your trainer in the morning. Have fun at the wedding.
Kimberly, sorry you are wore out but I bet your walk will perk you up. I hope you cold is getting better.
BTW, I love the new terms I’ve learned from all of you. Foodie, Muffin Top and Gorgefest.
Well, I must get my contacts out. They are going “Yo, Marcy; are we irritating you enough yet?”
I hope everyone has sweet dreams. I think I’ll dream of eating slow churned ice cream wearing that tanzanite bracelet.
Laters,
Marcy

Evening WWTr''s...and happy Friday! Tomorrow is my Friday as far as the beginning of my weekend since I have Sundays and Mondays off, but Saturdays are a short day at work anyway so Fridays for me are still pretty good anyway. Had a great day at work today, we were busy for the most part and it made the day go by quickly. *Sigh*, I just love it there.

I had my usual breakfast of whole wheat toast (1 slice), a schmear of pb and a tbsp of TJ''s strawberry preserves, but no coffee since I don''t want to be relying on caffeine every a.m. to get me going, I''m trying to stay away from getting too addicted to that vice, hee hee. I brought some fruit along with me for lunchie and walked a few blocks to Starbucks for an iced green tea with sweetener this afternoon...after I paid I asked the gal how many calories were in it, lol, and she actually KNEW that just the tea was zero cals but the sweetener made it 38 calories total, so that was pretty cool, she didn''t bat an eyelash in telling me! I stopped off at TJ''s after work and picked up some fresh produce and a BBQ chicken pizza per DH''s request and made him the pizza and made myself a zesty baby green salad topped with sauteed sliced portabellos, fresh chopped tomato, about a cup of pesto cheese tortellini, topped with a little ff balsamic vinaigrette for dinner. I had to follow it all with a glass of fabulous pinot grigio from TJ''s, it was just a random cheapo bottle but it was a little fizzy with a great aftertaste and was soooo good. It''s very possible I will have one more glass before bedtime, lol!

When I was browsing the frozen section at TJ''s tonight, I looked at the dessert section several times...I kept thinking, well maybe I''ll want something sweet later. But even though a few things looked really good I just couldn''t choose anything and I was so glad I didn''t just throw something in the cart just to have it, because now I''d really just rather have another glass of wine instead of a sweet treat, if that makes sense. I am just not a sweets person. I know that alcohol=sugar, though, so maybe I AM a sweets person but just like mine in the liquid form? LOL! We keep fresh wrapped chocolates on the countertops for customers at work every day, I''ve tried a couple and they are fabulous but I just don''t WANT them or lust after them like some other gals I work with, I think I must be a total weirdo in that respect.
9.gif
That''s ok with me, though, I''ll be a weirdo if it means saving calories!

Gail, sounds like you are doing really well, congrats on the 22 lb. loss, and I was thinking while reading your post that maybe if you tried cutting back the fat grams to around 35-40 it might help? In H.S. I used to aim for that amount and it seemed to keep me on track. I probably need to get back to that, maybe it will help me as well. Dixie, sorry to see you lost your long post, I hate that. Hope you re-post soon. IG, we all have our "off" days, guess today was yours, yay for gelato! Skippy, hope your doc comes up with a good remedy for your allergies, I''ve seen a ton of people this week complaining of them, I keep a box of tissues out in the showroom now just for that reason, hee hee. And thanks for the tip on saving a post first, does that work with all systems? Chinacat, hello! When I drink more than one or two at night it seems like I always have to get up around 5 as well and use the facilities, lol. I hate that because my alarm doesn''t go off for another couple of hours but I can''t seem to get a good rest in between once I''m up. Anyway, good for you for not getting cheese in your breakfast tacos, that''s a lot of calories/fat you cut out right there. I have the hardest time resisting cheese... Oh, and I''ll do a Wednesday weigh-in I think, that might help me get in a scale routine and be more accountable week to week. Rod, hope you enjoyed sushi and yogurt this evening! Mara, your trainer sounds awesome and wow, what a workout! Glad to hear you''re so excited about it after the first session, you are sooo on your way to a primo body, I''m so happy for you for making so much progress the last couple years and now getting even more into fitness/health. You''re just fab in my book! Zoe, don''t worry, just take baby steps, you will get there. None of us just jumped into being physically fit or getting there, it''s usually sort of a rocky start and then a habit develops and things progress from there. don''t beat yourself up about anything and just take it one day at a time, you''re doing great so far! We''re all here to support you, and I''m glad you are comfortable coming here to share. Kimberly, you are just a wonderful woman, I can''t imagine not feeling so well and running around after kids, especially when they are special needs. What a great life experience you''re both having and giving..
36.gif

That''s it for now, see you all tomorrow (my "Friday")!!!
35.gif
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Wowzers, everyone is doing great!

Monnie, whooo hooo on the 2 lbs! Have a nice short workday tomorrow; go check out WW.

Gail yay on the 22 total lbs!

IG, I love gelato but I like the sorbets (sp?) I find them refreshing.

ChinaCat are breakfast tacos like burritos? I love breakfast burritos.

Rod, I realized I need to keep up the weight lifting because I am still sore; I think that is crazy. Yay for a good sushi night and frozen yogurt! Hope Charlie is better. I am dying here reading that you put the top down and got to enjoy the waterfront!!! Sounds so lovely!

Kimberly, wow, I bet you are glad it is Friday so you can rest and get better. Sounds like you are loving teaching! You are so awesome; I love your passion for teaching!

Mara, sounds like you got an awesome workout w/the trainer. What kind of high impact stuff will you do?

Kudos Zoe for a trainer! Yay for cardio too.

Marcy, I am excited to have the weekend too! Wow, a camping trip sounds awesome. I did enjoy my day off from a workout.

Tomorrow will be a workout day for me. I want to see if I can get hubby on Sunday to go w/me on a walk down by our River; it always nice to walk there and enjoy people watching. So many people bike, walk and roller blade down there! Yay, it is the weekend
9.gif

Monarch, I am so glad you love your new job. That makes life so pleasant when you enjoy your work.

Skippy, I am excited to go try out our trailer. We are heading to a camp ground about 30 miles away. It is by a lake so I am sure there will be lots of people to entertain me. Some friends of ours are going camping with us so that will be nice. Have a great workout tomorrow and I hope you and your husband take a nice walk by the river on Sunday.

See everyone on Sunday.

Hey Marcy, the lake sounds wonderful! Did you see PS Guide to the Galaxy? (just in case you didn''t). Have fun and enjoy roasting figs (I was going to say marshmellows but wanted to make it healthy). hehehe

evening all! skippy the high impact work is what she had me start doing today, aka the high knees, hop skipping in and out of the rope ladder, jumps into squats, etc. i was definitely sweating up a storm within 20 min. i also have been reading more about ''steady state'' cardio vs more interval cardio where you do more bursts...whereas steady state is like you get on the elliptical and go the same amount for 45 minutes or whatever. seems like some trainers think steady state is less effective over time...whereas intervals basically make your HR rise and fall so it''s supposed to be more effective. my trainer doesn''t necessarily subscribe to that but did say she doesn''t advocate getting on any machine and working out for 45 minutes or an hour. she said if you are doing an hour of exercise you should be doing diff machines and working diff areas of the body for 15-20 min each. i think this goes back to the whole challenging your body thing too. so we''ll see. i definitely am sore already from this morning''s workout...my back and shoulders from the work she had me do and my thighs, owie.

tonite for dinner we walked a mile to this awesome outdoor/indoor american cafe kind of place...they have the best citrus salad with grilled chicken. we met our neighbor for dinner (she left hubby at home with the baby since he was getting fussy as they were both about to leave to come so he offered to stay home so she could get out for a while), greg had the bbq chicken pizza which of course i had to poach some of...hehe. i ended up sharing my salad with my girlfriend and she had some of greg''s pizza too. so the three of us shared those two items which worked out perfectly as it was too much food for us two. then we came back with her and took portia for a 1m+ walk. so it was nice to stretch my legs a bit because i am already feeling a bit sore and i feel better when i walk a bit. when we got home i had a tiny square of dark belgian chocolate...just the right amount of bitter sweetness.

marcy...enjoy your camping!! hehe i don''t know how much i am going to ''enjoy'' my training sessions but they''ll probably get me the results i am looking for since i can already feel the pain. hehe.
kim hope you feel better soon.
monnie so glad you are loving the new job.
rod, sounds like you had a fabulous evening tonite, yummy for sushi, it was great to have it for lunch today.
gail congrats on 22 lbs ... you''ll be at your goal in no time. also i wanted to say that for as hard as you work out, you shouldn''t cut your fat grams TOO much. sparkpeople told me to eat like 30-70g but i think i typically eat about 30-45g on average which is really not that much if you are super active. anyway, have you considered working with another nutritionist....or a personal trainer..? thought any more about doing more of the lower GI thing?

tomorrow morning we''ll go for our hike after breakfast...hopefully i''m not in traction after today...hehee. we''re both pretty tired tonite so we''re about to hit the sack...zzzz..can''t wait to sleep in tomorrow. nite all!!

Morning all,

I''m still sick but we did go for a nice walk last night, not super long, guessing 2 miles or so, but better than doing nothing. Not sure what the plan is for today yet.

~K

Hey everyone, just a quck check-in:

Skippy, when my muscles are sore, I fiind that working them right away makes them feel better faster. I know most people say rest, but for me rest only prolongs the soreness. Didn''t mean to make you jealous over the top down drive by the bay, but it was so nice. Our top down weather is just beginning. From October through late may, we''ll have 7 - 8 solid months of top down weather. Of course we pay for it dearly with super hot, humid and oh so long summers!!

Marcy, I hope you enjoy your camping trip. Though when I think of camping, I think of a tent and bugs and dirt. I think you''ll be camping in a bit more style than most get to enjoy!!

Monnie, sounds like you had a good time at TJ''s. I wish we had one in Tampa. Good for you not eating all the chocolates in the store!! And like Skippy said.....Woo Hoo on 2 pounds!!

Mara, glad you''re working on new things and the restaurant sounded great!

And Kimberly, taking a 2 mile walk while not feeling well........outstanding. I''m betting it helped your cold get better!!

We had a very nice day today. Nothing out of the norm, but a nice day for sure. We had our usual scone and fruit on the terrace. You can really tell the weather is changing just a bit. It was nice and breezy. Still warm, but not blistering hot and humid like it''s been the last 3 months. Then we took a load of too large clothes to Salvation Army (YAY FOR GETTING RID OF CLOTHES THAT ARE TOO BIG!!!). Then lunch and coffee, followed by a very solid 2.5 hour workout. Then grocery shopping and then we went to a restaurant across the street from our gym that we hadn''t been to in oh so long. It''s called the Wine Exchange and they have the best homemade soups. I had the absolute best cream of mushroom soup I think I"ve ever had and a Caesar salad (very light on the dressing) with grilled shrimp and grilled scallops mixed in. It was just wonderful. I don''t know why we''ve not been there in so long, but we''ll definitely be back real soon. Of course we had to have our Frozen Yogurt and coffee at Starbucks to round out the day, or the universe would likely crumble and we can''t have that now, can we??

Now we''re home and going to spend the rest of the evening lounging with the kitties. Tomorrow will be a regular Sunday, then Monday AM, I take my BMW in to the body shop to have the boo boo fixed. I really am anxious to have it fixed and not be reminded of that ditzy woman who hit me, every time I see my bumper.

I hope everyone''s enjoying a nice Saturday night.

Hi all!
35.gif

I had intentions of exercise tonight but my day was jam packed and it never happened. I got up and was going to do some shopping and hubby wanted to join me. I was shocked because that never happens I usually ask him (my man doesn''t love shopping). Then we went for lunch and rented a movie.

I started watching it and then the phone rang and some friends invited us over for dinner and they wanted to give us veggies from their garden. We never turn down fresh veggies! They live by the river and have great views of the mountains and beautiful cotton wood trees so it was nice hanging out. Then we got home and had another friend asking us to dinner but of course we were out. The bad thing was that they made an unhealthy delicious dinner so oh well. They had steaks, some pasta thing and salad; for dessert they had homemade peach cobbler w/vanilla ice cream. I just need to exercise a lot tomorrow. hehe

Kimberly I hope you get to feeling better soon. That is too bad you caught your moms cold. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Mara, it sounds like the jumps into squats are the Plyometrics I use to do in step between a routine so we would get our heart rates way up and they were killer.
3.gif
Sounds like an awesome workout!!!

Rod, yay for getting rid of large clothes and sending them to a place where people could use them. I love Caesars salad and of course shrimp, yum. That does sound like a great day!!! Sweet dreams, friend!!!

Happy Saturday, I think I will go finish my movie and return some phone calls.

Morning All and Happy Sunday!

I took it easy yesterday, and am still sick, grr! We went to the farmer''s market to get our veggies for the week and watched football. We had enchiladas for dinner last night, yummy! J made them with 97% fat free ground pork and not alotta cheese, very good and reasonably heathly.

We''re going down to the lake today to wander around and get some exercise in. The Chargers play at 1, so I''m guessing we''ll be watching football this afternoon too, or J will be anyways. I''m not such a fan of the NFL, too much money, not enough heart. We haven''t been to dinner all week, so we''ll go out tonight.

Hope everyone has a great day. We have beautiful weather here, so nice compared to last week. We''re down in the mid-80s, just perfect!

happy weekend all...noticed we are super light on posts this wkd, everyone must be out having a good time. i read yesterday but didn't really have the time to post. so here's my update. ended up not hiking yesterday, because ouchie, it hurt to really walk. so i just did a 4m flat neighborhood walk instead. it felt good to at least do something, my legs and BOOTIE were really sore ,which is good but man it's kind of amazing that i can work out the way i do, aka gym, hiking, jumping jacks and home workouts where i feel like i do get a good 'range' of movement in there and have 45 minutes of squats and jumps and other things just kick me in the sore bootie. so i guess it's good i got this trainer to help me figure out what i wasn't doing before. or doing right. then after the walk went shopping with my mom for her birthday since i had been so busy i didn't get her anything. we went to some boutique home decor stores, got some items, and i also got her a gift cert to this fave store she likes because they are about to begin building a house on this property they just purchased in this small boutique town about 10 min from here (maybe retirement home) and she wants to start thinking about how she wants to decorate. we also went to this awesome nursery near their new house which we both love and i got some replacement plants for my patio garden as the heat wave recently just fried some of the less hardy items. you can water all you want during 95 degree weather but with no overhead coverage some of the items just literally fried.

then came home, got ready and we went off to a friend's cocktail party to meet his parents who were visiting from ohio. i have known him about 5 years and heard a ton about his parents so it was fun to meet them. we all hung out, noshed on a bit of hummus, cheese, apple, and these yummy curry shrimp lettuce cups she makes. we missed going to the lobster place for dinner because it was going to close, so we all went on a road trip to this yummy outdoor cafe place where you can get food and awesome desserts and coffee and they had dessert and coffee and we ate a bit of dinner and then had dessert and coffee. i got my FAVE there, the basil melt which is basically basil, fresh mozz, tomato all toasted onto fresh baguette. ate 1/2 the bread only. and then greg and i split a double chocolate layer cake, my fave there, and i got a sf vanilla nonfat latte. and poached a bit of my friend's blueberry cheesecake.

so was a little naughtier than usual yesterday but it tasted so good. and i wasn't stuffed afterwards either which was perfect.

this morning greg had a concert his group was playing at some church service...so i slept in with portia. and now am having oatmeal breakfast (plain packet mixed with 1/2 a lower sugar apples and cinnamon for a bit of flavor) and 2 flaxseed toasts with light butter. coffee of course. yummy. for lunch i'll have egg white salad on toast and some cateloupe or something. today i feel better leg and butt wise but man still sore. so greg and i are supposed to do a hike today but we'll see...i may just do another 4m flat walk. i would like to hike but i don't want to end up in traction, esp since i am traveling tomorrow and tues and have to do a lot of walking around the airports lugging stuff, and also around the conference etc. either way i will do something active today for at least an hour, whatever it is. but i think greg does want to hike so we'll see, maybe i can get a shorter one in without being brought back down on a stretcher. hehee. i'm exaggerating, it's not that bad, but yesterday it was kind of hard to sit down using leg muscles...it made me wonder why toilets are so darn low? hehee.
41.gif

also i want to play in the garden and get my new stuff in, and have to finish my laundry and pack for my trip, going to just do one carry on so i have to be savvy about what to bring. and pack up portia's items because she's going to stay with my parents for the 2 days just so greg doesn't have to deal with too much portcoordination. for dinner we will either BBQ (if i can find the inclination and time) something like chicken and veggies here at home, or maybe just get something from the local cajun place, aka i can do my grilled chicken salad quite simply without hassle for a light dinner. we shall see! i was daydreaming about lasagna today, esp since then greg could eat it while i was gone, but i just don't know if i'll have the time for it today, boo hoo. it might have to wait. mrs salvo i hope yours came out good.

anyhow, hope everyone is out enjoying the weekend...it's finally quite nice here rather than scorching and we are in late summer which means we have fog in the mornings til about 11 or 12 which is also quite nice...because then it's almost like you have two types of days going on. in the morning you can lounge around in your sweats with a blanket then the sun comes out and you can go out in a tank. hehee. plus it's easier to garden in the cooler weather. so i might get out there now and do my thing.

skip, yep these things were killer as evidenced by my hobbling walk right now...hehe. greg thinks its soo funny...hehee. he said something like 'well you look hot but you walk like an old woman'..thanks honey. i do find it funny though. rod, yay for getting rid of old big clothes and glad your wkd is shaping up nicely. kim, have a good walk and enjoy the game.

happy sunday all!!!

Hello, all!

I was so bad over the Labor Day weekend. Not only was it a holiday weekend, but it was FH''s birthday, so we drank and ate pizza and cupcakes. But I was good this week; elliptical every day, for 20 minutes (I''m working up to 30!) and 100 arm curls each time. We''ve also been eating better this week, and I''m down a pound, so that''s good. At least I didn''t do too much damage.

Hope everyone else is doing well on their plans!

So we got to the lake and I convinced myself to go alll the way around, WOOHOO! I think it''s about 5.5 miles of good hiking (you hike to the bottom of the dam and back up). It felt great to head outside.

J reminded me we went out for dinner on Tuesday and made the decision to eat at home tonight. It''s going to be a busy few week coming up between school, work and traveling and he thought I could use one more day of rest and recovery. So sweet. So he''s going to BBQ something for dinner and we''ll eat some of the delish veggies we picked up at Farmers Market yesterday.

Mara, sorry you''re in traction! Take care of yourself and have a safe trip.

Ebree, good for you for increasing workout time!

Happy Sunday all!

I was really bad about working out last week--I think Labor Day was the last time I made it to the gym--and I couldn''t even convince myself to go yesterday when I got home from my client (damn, they wear me out sometimes!) but the HH and I walked over to Ben & Jerry''s last night so that was 3.9 miles round trip. And this morning I did finally drag myself out of bed but I only got in 48 mins on the elliptical (550 cals) instead of my usual 65 mins because I was afraid I was going to be late to my open house. It was at a property I''d never been to before and I always pad my time in that event so I have time to look around become familiar with it, but I still ended up getting there 25 mins early so I really could have finished up my workout. Oh well, next time I''ll know.

The HH is leaving for a work trip tonight and we won''t be back until Wednesday so he made me a GIANT (and I do mean GIANT!) pot of spaghetti sauce to see me through. All good vegetables and lean organic beef though, so it''s probably not to bad for me.

Off to run some searches for clients but I''ll check back in later.

Happy Sunday Campers!!

Nothing monumental to note today. Usual stuff. Scone, fresh fruit and coffee on the terrace. It was actually too breezy to even try to read the paper. Then a quick lunch at Panera, followed by coffee at Sbucks under the oak. Woo Hoo, we actually sat under the tree in the middle of the day and tree provided complete shade and it wasn''t so hot you couldn''t enjoy your coffee outdoors. Then a good solid 2.5 hour workout. We mixed it up today and in addition to our normal routing, did a lot of free weights. I can feel it in my pecs, which is a good thing. I still have a little softness around my chest after nearly a lifetime of not working those muscles, so they''re about the last to be getting in shape.

For dinner, we baked fresh salmon, steamed some carrots and had fresh silver queen corn. Charlie didn''t want to go out again, so he''s sitting on the terrace reading a David Sedaris book, and I''m checking email, etc.

Kimberly, your over 5 mile hike sounded like fun! Good for you!!

Skippy, we all have days where life get''s in the way of a good workout. I''m sure you made up for it in other ways. Thanks for the sweet wishes for a good nights sleep!! Which, btw., I did have!!

Mara, sorry your sore, but it sounded like you had a fab workout. Greg''s compliment of you look hot but walk like an old lady was funny!!

EBree, yay for losing a pound after eating pizza and cupcakes. Remember, the metabolism keeps on working at an elevated pace when we work out, so often, indulgences won''t stack against us.

DeeJay, you shouldn''t feel bad about ONLY DOING 45 minutes on the elliptical. That coupled with your long walk to Ben and Jerry''s was good for you!!

Enjoy your Sunday evening everyone. I have to get up super early as my car is due at the body shop at 8 AM sharp and it''s on the other side of town, so I''ll be leaving earlier than I like, but will be glad to have the boo boo fixed.

Hello friends -- I''m still alive and well!

I will spare you all the gory details of the new job. Suffice it to say that I spent 8 hours yesterday and 8 today trying to catch up. And it reconfirms my belief that 90% of issues all teachers have come from other adults, not the kids.

I wasn''t really able to work out too much this week, but I just finished up 20 minutes on the Bowflex (which is my absolute minimum).

Eating very well this past week, mostly due to the fact that it''s easier to be regimented when I have to pack a lunch! Although DH grilled some killer steaks last night. Seriously. We didn''t talk the whole meal because we were too busy making googly eyes. Over the food. So, the romance doesn''t die, it just seems to shift to the food.

The puppy hasn''t barfed in a few days, so yea for that!

Off to make dinner -- Giada made some seriously delicious lookin'' pasta yesterday so I''m trying it. Whole wheat penne, spinach, reduced fat cream cheese and goat cheese. Yum yum yum.

Keeping up with everyone''s posts...and DeeJay, girl, CALL ME when you''re going to Ben and Jerry''s. I''ll let you "use" my walking miles...I''m just seriously in a Ben and Jerry''s zone these days. DH yesterday mixed in some brownies in the last bit of Butter Pecan, and I swear life doesn''t get much better than that.

J.

Jas, I think Giada could make baked turds look scrumptious to be honest. I just love her weekend adventures show!! No dainty bites of food for her. No, she just takes a big heaping fork full and that look of rapture comes over her face and you know it was heavenly! Enjoy your Giada inspired pasta!! Good deal on the puppy not barfing I think??!!

Rod, thanks for making me feel better about my short workout. Seriously; I felt like a slacker when I didn't do my full 65 mins, but I was just too paranoid about being late.

LOL jas, you can B&J with me any time! We'll have to make a date and trot over there some time when you're free, especially now that the weather is getting a little nicer for a walk like that.

So I just had this crazy idea to clean out the office armoire, which hasn't been done in... um... maybe since we got it... I only did the main area, including the pull outs, and the underneath where I always put my feet (not the top shelf or the side thingy), but man it was disgusting! I even tried to clean out the keyboard as best I could without one of those air cans. Maybe I shouldn't eat at the desk so much--you should have seen all the FOOD that fell out from between the keys! It could have sustained a family of four for a week. Totally gross!

The HH is off to California and I ate so much pasta when I came home after my open house that I don't think I'm going to do much for dinner. (jas... are you listening... ?!?)

It was a busy weekend and now I''m relaxing, reading, and checking in with PS. My FI and I went to the gym yesterday for our first appt. We''re going separately to the same trainer and we figured that way we''d get the maximum out of our visits. I did a total of 10 minutes on the elliptical (5 min. at the beginning of my session and then 5 minutes at the end). I also did a bunch of the weight machines (I can''t remember which ones) and the trainer wrote everything down so I''d know which ones to use and what settings to put them on. It was a good first workout, although I know it will get much harder.

After the gym, we went to a wedding on the seacoast. It was a beautiful day although it was like, a million degrees. The ceremony and the reception were outdoors (the reception was under a tent though, thank God), and it was a good time. For dinner, there was a BBQ buffet (catered by the same BBQ place that is catering our rehearsal dinner next summer). We had BBQ chicken, red potatoes (not potato salad), coleslaw and corn bread (which I skipped). Instead of cake or a dessert buffet, there were cupcakes. My FI and I shared a lemon and a chocolate cupcake. Yummy. I didn''t have one drink but I downed a lot of water in the water bottles that were spread throughout the tent in coolers. I actually think yesterday was a good day, food wise.

Today I had a PB and banana sandwich on whole wheat toast (I know, not so good) for breakfast. Lunch was brown rice with a little Olivio spread. Dinner was two smallish pieces of Hawaiian pizza, and we remembered to order it with half the cheese. We didn''t miss having less cheese, and it was quite tasty. Okay, so today wasn''t a great day, food wise, but it could have been worse I suppose. I had a lot of carbs and I know that will be hard to let go of.
