Hi Everyone! Glad to see you''re keeping up the good work.

I didn''t do my cardio this morning. But hopefully I''ll get to do it before dinner, or maybe we can go for a walk later.

hmm mrs salvo i haven''t bought the kicked up tomato in a while but now i am paranoid! i need to get more wheat pita from this local boutique store that i have gotten the kicked up tomato in the past so i will try to go at lunch or later tonite and see if they have the tomato sauce still. i would imagine you could still get it online or something if you were desperate hehee...if it was really selling out or closing out i would buy whatever you can find. i totally agree re: finding something and loving it...esp when it comes to cooking, that tomato sauce for me has everything in it to give the lasagna that little kick without you having to experiment and toss in spices on your own yanno? i am dying for lasagna actually, what with our hectic schedules i haven''t made it in a long time...because we are not around all week to eat it basically. i can''t wait til fall and winter when i really will want to make a big pan and eat it all week hehee.

happy birthday DJ!! good for you on passing up the bday donuts but man that seems like overkill on your bday doesn''t it? surely just one wee donut won''t hurt. hehee. my bday is in october and i am already dreading the cake/donut/lovefest that will probably ensue here at work. and somehow asking for a fruit platter instead just seems SO WRONG.

anyhow, this morning did the usual for breakkie. in my latest women''s health there was a list of the top 100 processed food items in terms of nutrients for calories kind of thing...i was pleased to see most of what we talk about on here on there...though the article was like obviously whole foods rather than processed are better for you but with the understanding that sometimes you just gotta grab something on the run. the fiber one bars were on there, kashi, a few lean cuisines with lower sodium, mini wheat bagels, wheat pitas, 2% cheese slices, horizon fat free milk, edys loaded ice cream, skinny cow bars, no pudge brownies, jello pudding cups, etc. one thing i was not familiar with is nature''s valley something oat granola bars, only 90 cals and something like 3g fiber and 4g protein and crunchy/hard...i might have to seek them out. sometimes i want a break from the luna bar or whatever..and 90 cals is better than 180 at times when you just want a crunchy flavor.

morning snack will be whole foods organic plain oatmeal pack (150 cals, 4g fiber, 6g protein!) with some vermont sugar free maple syrup. lunch today will be egg white salad on flaxseed toast, and canteloupe. i''m doing a hike this afternoon and who knows what''s for dinner tonight.

tomorrow i am traveling for just the day, but it''s a lonnggggg day, gotta be up and at my coworker''s house for carpool to SF by 6:15am and then our flight doesn''t get back into SFO til like 8:30 so won''t be home until almost 10pm, ugh. i am going to pack some luna bars and almonds to snack on while traveling, we have lunch at our offices we are visiting in oregon...so who knows what they''ll bring in but i would imagine it''s not going to be health food. and dinner, yikes...whatever we can scrounge on the way to the airport? if nothing else i can scarf on cereal when i get home tomorrow night. then friday morning i have my first meeting with my trainer at 9am *yawn* and then a day of work and a team luncheon at one of my FAVE places with the amazing oreo cookie dessert. at least we''ll be sharing it, hopefully they don''t want to get two. hehee.

so yeah the next few days are going to be a whirlwind til the wkd...at least it will pass by fairly quickly i hope!! hope everyone is enjoying a not too painful work wednesday...and making healthy choices...mostly. hehee.

Haven''t read this weeks posts yet but just wanted to stop in. I am trying hard to start cooking so last night (although I didn''t officially *cook* anything), I did prepare dinner and it was great. I bought a pre-cooked chicken, mixed it w/lettuce, red peppers, avocado, black beans and salsa. Then added a couple of tortillas and it was great. Very tasty! My son even ate some too and would''ve eaten more but didn''t like the tortillas. I tried the blue corn ones and wasn''t that pleased w/them. Too grainy for me and too hard for him.
Tonight, I''m going to find something else to do w/the rest of the chicken. Anyone have any fairly easy ideas? I was thinking maybe chicken quesadillas or bbq chicken pizza (a friend has an easy recipe for the dough which I''d have to get from her). Oh, I also bought some green beans and I thought I''d make those tonight too as a side.

My weight has been fluctuating a bit the past few days so I''m trying to eat better this week. I splurged a bit last week. And I did day 1 of my exercising yesterday and day 2 comes this evening.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Hi All,

Way to go, dixie, making dinner at home!

Happy b-day DeeJay!

Skip, my nephew and yours are the same age. His b-day is the end of Nov. Hope you had fun sitting!

So we went to an Italian place for dinner last night, shared an antipasto salad, I had pasta w/ sundried tomatoes in a pesto sauce and some wine. No dessert for me, though!

I woke up this morning sick. I''ve caught the bleck my mom had when I was at her house. Sore throat, stuffy nose, really run down. GRR!

I subbed today and am working on school now, will drag J for a walk this evening.

hi everyone,

kimberly - sorry you are feeling unwell.

deejay - happy BDAY!!!

today i did the usual bran flakes and chocolate milk for breakfast. had cottage cheese for a late morning snack. ate an apple and PB for lunch on the run. ate a huge veggie salad for a late snack/lunch. just had plain pizza for dinner. tonite, after my workout, i think i will do a protein shake as i really skimped on protein today.

tonite i will do an interval run for 3 miles and finish with 25min on the clubhouse elliptical. tomorrow morning i start a week long trial membership at one of the gyms i am considering.

not much else new here. i have a weekend business trip to dallas for a conference that will kill my weekend
7.gif
. i am trying to fix a computer that i am working on as i type this and it''s only allowing me to type like 1 word a minute
29.gif
. sorry this is a choppy post as a result.

have a great workout everyone!

Kimi, I got it wrong my nephew is 1 yr and 8 mo; hehe close enough. Feel better; sending healing vibes your way. Has it cooled off; my friend who lives in San Diego said it was HOT HOT HOT?!

Mara, have a safe trip travel; your trip reminds me of my days as an auditor. Hope it slows down and this is just your busy season. Sweet dreams.

Hey Dixie, kudos on the healthy dinner!

Hey Tdiddy! Yay for a long run and the elliptical!

Rod, it turns out the partner just wanted to take me to lunch since he ejoyed my company. Shesh, can''t people say those things in the first place; I didn''t go but asked for a rain check. Silly me! I am sore today! How was your workout. I am loving that you and Charlie are bemmer men. hehe

Happy Birthday Miss DeeJay!!!! How was your birthday???

Marcy, you are so supportive and sweet; I am sure everyone loves having you as a friend! Wow, you teach and have another full time job!!!

I went for a 4 mile walk!!! I need to move out of the state during this allergy season. I actually walked w/a friend from work! She was catching me up on everyone; I worked w/a good bunch of people so it was fun to hear how everyone is doing. In fact we are going to walk again tomorrow and then go to dinner! Happy Hump Day!!!

Thanks for the well wishes, Skippy and tdiddy.

Skip, it did cool off here today, we were about 90 degrees instead of 110 (I live about 20 minutes inland). I have to share with you, cuz you have been so awesome about inquiring about my work, that I had my first fantastic day subbing in a general ed classroom. I felt like I had command of the room while still being relaxed enough to have fun with the kids and teach them some new stuff. It is the best feeling and while I was feeling very unsure of myself about teaching general ed/elementary I am now feeling really confident and excited. I''m sure I''ll have more bad sub days ahead that leave me feeling incompetent, but today was so gratifying. And to have the kids say "you were such a good teacher, we hope you come back!" was such an awesome feeling.

Skippy, it''s nice the partner just enjoy''s your company. Too bad they didn''t say that up front. It was a natural reaction that you though there was an alterior motive!

Mrssalvo, so glad to see you are doing well with your pregnancy and still exercising. Whether you have a boy or a girl, I''m betting this child will be a fitness nut as I believe what mother''s do during pregnancy somehow translates to the baby. So, you keep on exercising and teaching your baby about living a healthy lifestyle!

Today was such a busy day at work. Neither of us really felt like going to the gym, but then Lorelei''s opening week wisdom and Tony Little, the infomercial guy I mentioned from dinner Sunday night landed in my brain and I knew there was no way out of going. And as luck would have it, I got energized and had a really good and long workout. Tonight was a combo night. Core, followed by legs, then upper body, followed by 35 intense minutes on the elliptical. All in all I worked out for about 2.5 hours without any rest. I''m beat..........

People often think that severely restricting food intake or even fasting will help jump start weight loss (which it can do), but I got this from Sparkspeople and thought it was really interesting and should be read by everyone. So, I hope this helps anyone who''s thinking that a ''fast'' might be a good thing:

"Within only hours after starting a fast, when dietary glucose is used up, the body draws on its glycogen stores, but these don’t last very long. When these stores are exhausted, your body enters an altered metabolic state. It turns to its own protein (and a portion of its fat) to make more glucose for the brain and nervous system. This results in a considerable breakdown of both lean muscle tissue and fat tissue, and a production of ketones. This is not considered a healthy or desirable state.

As a result, you might lose weight, but it is due to water loss, dehydration, and muscle tissue wasting, and is usually accompanied with symptoms such as fatigue and dizziness.

Therefore, you can reason that after years of abusing the body with a poor diet and excessive fat and calories, a fasting state is not the answer to better health. Your body is truly craving proper nutrition, including whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, low-fat dairy products, healthy fats, and lean meats, fish, beans, and other protein sources. Then and only then, can the body systems work together effectively and efficiently. This healthy diet will result in improved energy and overall health."

I hope everyone''s enjoying a nice night. I really hope DeeJay is being treated to a fabulous night for her birthday!!

I am so excited for you; I am sure you will start having more and more of those days. I am so glad you are doing something you love and I can tell that from your posts! Thanks for sharing! I love that the kids told you are a good teacher and want you back (kids are honest)!!! I bet you felt like hugging all of them. hehe Kids are so cute; I love how they think and enjoy learning. I bet it is fun to see the light bulb going off in there heads

Rod, thats for understanding how I was feeling; you make me feel better! Yay for a rockin workout!!!

Mrs. Salvo kudos on working out!

Hello my WWT friends.
35.gif

Well, I cleaned up my act today and didn’t eat pizza. Woo hoo! I was back to my normal food and did a lot of walking. My husband is out in a lightning storm with power tools working on the 5th wheeler. Should I go out and save him from himself?
Lorelei, that is great you are the energizer exercising bunny today. Woo hoo!
Happy Birthday, DeeJay.
emcake.gif
I am sorry to hear about your neck and your arm. I hope they get better. Did you get any new bling?
Shortblonde, I hope you found some great fruits and veggies at the farmer’s market.
Hi Inde girl, I hope you found time to do some exercise today. I did a lot of walking today at work, parking in the far end of the parking lot and walking around class tonight.
Mara, it sounds like a very long day for you tomorrow. At least you are going prepared with your snacks.
Hi Dixie, I kind of splurged a few days this weekend and am glad to say I am doing better today too. Your chicken sounds good.
Kimberly, I am sorry to hear you are sick. I wish you a speedy recovery. That is so nice the kids love you and want you to come back. I am glad to hear it has cooled off there.
Tdiddy, I hope you like the gym. Bummer for having to go to a conference for the weekend. Maybe it will be fun.
Skippy, thank you my friend. You seem to be very sweet and supportive and I am sure your friends value you a lot. Yes, I do keep busy but I must like being busy or I’d quit teaching. I get pretty bored between semesters, I am not used to having nothing to do but go to work and come home. I am glad to hear you enjoyed walking with your friend.
Rod, thank you for the great info from sparkpeople. They have some great information on their website.
Well, I think I’ll go mention the lightning / power tool idea to my DH.
Have a great Thursday.

evening all!! sounds like everyone had a good day today.

busy day today at work, afterwards i went to the trail and walked, i meant to just do a flatter trail today but i ended up taking a whole new trail because the sun was going down...so it was cooler, and i found a whole new area to walk that was uphill part way but not quite as intense as some of the other trails. i ended up doing about 4.6m in just about an hour and 15 minutes, so i was booking it hehee.

lunch was egg white salad on flaxseed toast, then a sugar free nonfat vanilla iced latte from sbucks. had a luna bar for snack. dinner was from whole foods, the new one that opened up near work/the trail is massive, and they have a seriously huge prepared food area with a hot section, cold section, burrito bar, etc...so i got us slices of herb roasted turkey breast, macaroni and cheese and grilled vegetables for dinner. gave greg 3/4 of the mac and cheese and just had the tiniest portion ever, my first white pasta in weeks...hehee. it was very tasty. ate way more grilled veggies, and had some turkey breast as well. dessert will be some mint chocolate chip ice cream.

tomorrow i have to get up at 5:30am...yikes. it's so funny because up until like a month ago i was doing no traveling really, don't know why it's been so crazy lately but just so many events and summits and etc etc. hopefully after this trip tomorrow and then early next week i go to santa barbara for a few days...then after that i think i am home til end of october, woohoo. hopefully i can keep eating tomorrow quite well...though who knows what lunch and dinner will be.

my nutritionist wants me to stay on the lower GI thing but she said i can add more things back in if i want to...really i am just going to splurge a bit on the weekend i think...but keep my weeks pretty clean. really i am pretty happy with how things are going so far. and i have enough energy from the carbs i am eating...so it's working out great. i was reading this forum about training and getting lean, it's full of people who are pretty serious about working out and nutrition...and it is interesting to read their posts and information. one of the posts is about addictions to food and how people have cravings for sugar and white flour and it's almost always that stuff that you crave and fall off the wagon for, rarely ever anything good. about how when someone has that kind of addiction to those things, even having one can derail all positive progress made previously. i was like uhh yeah sounds familiar, donuts, cupcakes? hehee. better to try to stay away!!

anyhow, going to enjoy some ice cream and then hit the sack to try to get some sleep for the long day tomorrow. no workout for me thank goodness...have a great thurs everyone!

I''m super duper late tonight WWTr''s! Left for work this a.m. at 8:30 and did not return home until 9:30 p.m. because I finally obtained a hair appointment after work tonight! It went really well, I love what the gal did, she''s new to me but a salon I''ve been to a few times before, I just kept telling her how happy I was with everything she did, color, cut, service, etc. I even purchased product which I rarely do, I have a good friend who manages another salon (too far away for me, though) who indulges me with freebies often. Anyway, no workout as I was on my feet all day and then just in heaven relaxing in the chair for almost 3 hours, and it was too dark with too many mosquitos out ready to eat me alive when I got home to go for a walk or anything. Further making me feel like a queen was the fact that DH had done some serious cleaning today and I walked into order and cleanliness instead of a disaster zone tonight, I could have just kissed him to pieces, what a dear. I think he knew I was a bit stressed the past couple weeks while he was traveling so much and with me having a new job and taking care of the dogs full time by myself, god love him, walking into a clean house (that wasn''t cleaned by moi) was better than a foot massage or dare I say it--something blingy! (Yes, I went there, lol!)

I had my usual quick breakfast of pb on a slice of wheat toast, 8 oz OJ and coffee this morning, but only had time for a little lunch of fruit (one of those Del Monte two serving plastic containers of fruit you can find in the deli, about 160 calories), by the time I got home tonight I was absolutely starved and won''t do that again...I ended up making a Boca burger with carmelized onions and a side of lentils from TJ''s. Not much but until I make it to the grocery we are just light on food that''s quick to fix at the moment. My salon was right down the block from our TJ''s but I didn''t get out of there until after 9 when they close so I couldn''t even stop by there to grab a few things...argh. You all will be proud to know that at least I did not break down and just order a pizza, lol!

Happy Birthday Deejay, I responded to the thread in Hangout but wanted to re-celebrate here, hee hee. Hey, maybe we WWtr''s can start a new tradition of healthy b-day food instead of cake? Ok, scratch that...maybe a healthy cake, one of those diet soda recipe cakes? LOL! Maybe not...jeez I love cake.

OK, super tired, being silly, no more personals. See you all tomorrow evening, hopefully I''ll get this booty out of bed early enough to get in an exerciseTV workout, it''s supposed to storm here all day tomorrow and I don''t expect to get outside without an umbrella/poncho! Night all!
35.gif

Yes, Virginia, there are TWO four o''clocks in the day, and I''m rediscovering the joy of both.

A quick pop in before heading off to work -- cutting way back on cardio (ok, I''m not doing any til the weekend) this week because I''m exhausted, the weather is ridiculous, I''m sweating all day, and I figure doing a ton of flights of stairs and being on my feet all day will count. Once my body readjusts to the physical demands, I''ll Yoga Booty again! But, I am keeping up with my quicky Bowflex workouts, which I love. Have done 2 this week and will work in one more.

School is tough, but the routines make it easier to eat healthy, so I''m presently maintaining at my "plateau" (which is 4 pounds from where I''d like to be, and like 6 pounds from where I''d REALLY like to be, but I''ve been stuck here most of the summer)

I''m keeping up with everything and wish you all well.

WAY TO GO KIMBERLY!

Hi Everyone!

I''ve been doing alright this week: cardio every day this week so far, and mostly eating healthy. Yesterday I steamed veggies and tofu (with brown rice) and used some szechuan sauce for dipping. So TASTY, healthy and low cal.

I am thinking about changing my breakfast to oatmeal. It makes me feel more full and I guess it''s supposed to be healthy. Does anyone know anything about oatmeal that I don''t know? After my movie-popcorn devastation, I just don''t know anything about anything anymore.
39.gif

One more question: how often do you guys get on the scale? Once a week? Once a month? Every day?

Morning All,

This cold has hit me like a ton of bricks, I can''t breathe, sore throat, achy body, blech. So I''m not working today, probably won''t work out either as I need to rejuvinate because I am working in an autistic class tomorrow and that means being very physically active. We had a ground pork/eggplant dish for dinner last night, what I could taste of it was good but I wasn''t hungry at all, pushed 1/2 of it around the plate and gave up eating.

Monnie, so glad you found a stylist you like, that''s so fun!

IG, I weigh myself twice a week, always at the same time. I''ve read studies that say weighing in every day is the best way to be held accountable and I know that at least one WWTer weighs in daily but it''s just too much for me. Weight fluctuates too much from day to day and I don''t want to be obsessed with a number as this is about overall health and fitness for me, not weighing XXX amount. I do have a comfort zone that I don''t like to step out of, and if I see myself off track and pull in the reigns but I try not to get too crazy about it. We used to have a group of people who did "Weigh In Wednesdays" and posted weight and measurements, but that''s kinda tapered off. If you''d like to, I''d be happy to start participating in it again this coming Wednesday. If not, I''m okay without it.

Have a great day all.

hi all,

went to the gym last night for 45 minutes on the elliptical, then home to cook up some of the fresh zucchini bounty that i got at the farmers market. today i''ve had greek yogurt with frech michigan blueberries for breakfast (so sad the berry season is almost over...) and will have a caprese salad with fresh mozzarella and heirloom cherry tomatoes (also from the farmers market). tonight i will bike at home for exercise. dinner will be more zucchini!

mara, i do the all-day travel routine about once a month for work. i don''t really like it much, but at least it means i get to sleep in my own bed both nights instead of a hotel...

marcy, good for you for getting back to the routine!

monnie, don''t forget to eat! keep a granola bar or something in your purse for the marathon days, ok?

jas, i''m sure you''ll get back into the swing of things in no time.

ig, oatmeal is a great breakfast and i eat it many mornings in the winter. just buy a kind that is oats only that doesn''t have added sugars or other stuff - i personally like quaker whole rolled oats, which cook in the microwave in a few minutes. i also love tofu, veggies, and brown rice - one of my favorite dinners!
kimberly, sorry to hear you are sick. here''s hoping for a speedy recovery!

Gah!!! Jeans feel tight, no fair!!!!

gah.gif

Hey all. I gained 2.5 lbs and lost it by today. whooo hooo! I am happy; I set a goal to lose 10 lbs by end of Oct. I will go walking w/my friend tonight and then we are going out for salads.

Mara, have a safe trip! Yay for the hike last night!

Marcy, kudos for staying away from the pizza! I bet you feel proud; did you get hubby out of the storm. Yikes!

Hey Monarch, wow you had a full day. Yay for hubby cleaning the house. My husband is superman when it comes to cleaning but he doesn''t do it too often but when he does, wow! Yay for eating healthy. You and Marcy did good avoiding pizza (my weakness). hehe

Jas, yay for Yoga Booty! In my WW magazine they say that is a good workout for your core and yay for the bowflex! Yay for not gaining; that is great!

Indy, I like the Go Lean oatmeal; it has more fiber and keeps me full because of the fiber and it has a hint of cinnamon and I think a little flax seed in it.

Kimi, oh no to the cold! Take care of yourself; I hope J makes you some soup and you sleep.

Shortblond, yay for the workout and the heirloom cherry tomatoes from the farmers market sound divine. Yum fresh blueberries!

Lorelei, dang I am sorry! How frustrating; they will be lose again soon so chin up:0)

Happy Thurs. . . yay tomorrow is Friday!!!!!

Okay, seriously, I can''t keep up with all the posts. I try to check before school and I check in when I get home but I can''t really go on PS at school. Slow down, would ya?
9.gif

I scheduled four workouts with my trainer for this week and next but doh...I realized I had a meeting after school yesterday so I had to reschedule. My trainer didn''t call me back though, so I hope she doesn''t think I blew her off. My FI and I are scheuled to go on Wednesdays, a few hours apart from each other. When I had to cancel, they thought I was also cancelling my FI''s appt. Needless to say, when he got to the gym after work and found out he didn''t have an appt. after all, he wasn''t happy. Next Tuesday we have open house at school (I''m a teacher), so I cna''t go then either. I promise I won''t be so flakey and I''ll get my workouts in, even if it''s just a walk after school.

I''ve heard that excercing gives you energy but I''m finding that the LAST thing I want to do is excercise after school. I''m too dog tired...like, "I could fall asleep right NOW!" tired. I won''t use it as an excuse -- but how do I fight that feeling? I can''t really excercise (am I spelling that right?), before school because I already get up at 5:30 and I need sleep. I can''t get up earlier than that.

What type of menu and excercie program do you recommend for beginners? I know I''ll get a ton of help from my trainer but I figured I''d tap into your brains as well. My FI and I are going to go RUNNING (well, walking a lot and jogging when possible) this Sunday with my dad. My dad runs all the time and he also does yoga but I don''t think I could get into yoga. It doesn''t seem like my thing. I''d love to be as fit as my dad though and I hope someday it happens.

I''m all for the Wednesday weigh in! Count me in. Anyone else?

By next Wed, I want to be down one pound.

Zoe: I dunno, I HATE running. My dad''s a long time marathoner (well, was until he hit about 55 or so and started breaking bones left right and center) and was always trying to get me to run and I just, well, hate it. Some people LOVE it, but if you find you don''t like it, don''t get discouraged. Sticking with an exercise routine is all about finding something to do that you enjoy. These days, I''m all about speed walking up hill. I set the treadmill to 15% elevation and walk at 4.2 miles an hour. I like the elliptical too. Gives a lot of good leg sculpt and is efficient in terms of burning calories.

What about swimming?

Also, keep in mind that the first 3 wks are always a bummer, while your lungs and heart get back into gear. After that, it will get WAY easier. Promise. So once you find an exercise you kind of like, just stick it out for a bit, ok? It will get MORE fun the stronger you get.

Another motivation: the more muscle you have the more fat you burn.

Hi everyone!
35.gif
I ate right again today! Woo hoo!
36.gif

Mara, that is wonderful you found a new trail you like. I know you’ll be glad to not have to travel for work for awhile.
Monarch, what a sweetie your husband was to clean the house for you. That is a real treat! I am glad you like your new hairdo. I need to find someone new to cut and perm my hair. My French poodle hair is growing out but I want to get the top part trimmed soon to get rid of the overly curly top. And jeez I love cake too.
Jas, sorry to hear you are seeing both 4 o’clock roll around each day. It sounds like you are getting a great workout at school though. Woo hoo!
Inde, I weigh twice a day. I’m obsessed but at least it’s something I do that is NOT fattening. I hear oatmeal is good for you; I eat my oatmeal in cheerios though.
Kimberly, pamper yourself and watch fun things on TV. I hope you feel better real soon.
Thanks Shortblonde. I am glad to be back to my routine. I hope you had a great bike ride tonight and enjoyed your fresh zucchini.
Lorelei, rats to your jeans feeling tight. They’ll get loose again really soon.
Skippy, yeah for loosing your 2.5 pounds already.
36.gif
I lost ½ of my extra pound so I am getting there. It’s scary how quickly those pounds just come back. You’ll reach your October goal – no worries. Have fun walking with your friend. Yes, I did get my husband to come in to the house last night but of course I was soaking wet standing there in the rain. In Wyoming the rain is COLD too so I was really chilly last night.
Zoe, it does take time to keep up with all the posts but I really enjoy it. Sorry to hear about the confusion on appointments with your trainer. No worries, you’ll get as healthy as your dad – that sounds like a great goal for you.
Kimberly and Inde, I’ll do Wednesday weigh ins. I need to start keeping track of my measurements too. I know my jeans are getting baggy already.
Well, I must go get a few things rounded up for our big camping trip this weekend. We are going rather we are ready or not.
Take care and have sweet dreams.
Marcy

So sorry you''ve picked up a cold Kimberly. Colds aren''t fun, but colds this time of year can be particularly awful for some reason. Rest, drink plenty of fluids, eat "real" chicken soup and you''ll get better soon! If you have access to some Motzah Ball soup, that would be a great feel better meal! I do believe there is something in chicken and motzah ball soup that has healing powers. Trust me! Oy!! LOL

Good for you Inde, but tofu?? I can eat just about anything but tofu!
14.gif
23.gif
Good for you though!!

Good job on 45 minutes on the elliptical Shortblonde! You go girl!!

It''s water weight Lorelei........You''ve had so much "pant''s" weather over there, it''s seeping into your pores. It will go away!!

Yay for losing the weight sweet Skippy!!

Zoe, if you''re not too familiar with training, let your trainer design a good beginners program for you. That''s how we started almost 2 years ago. We didn''t have a clue what to do at the gym. The gym, the people at the gym and the machines the people used at the gym intimidated the crap out of us. So, we had a trainer put together a routine we could follow that got us going and utlimately proved to be the start of a complete change in our lives. Now, we''re fearless at the gym and aren''t frightened or intimidated in any way. And on your question about energy, what you''ll find is even when you think you don''t have anything left and couldn''t possibly start a workout, you''ll find that somewhere deep within you, there is energy and working out will increase it and you''ll feel 1,000% better after working out than before. Good luck!

Well, Mr charlie just wasn''t feeling well last night and he cut his workout a little short and he wasn''t feeling too well tonight, so he asked me if I would consider just going out for a nice relaxing dinner, frozen yogurt and coffee night. Sometimes, when you work out as hard as we do, an extra days rest isn''t such a bad idea, so that''s what we did and we had a really nice evening. It was breezy and one can tell the awful oppressive heat of Florida in the height of summer is going to be changing soon. It will still be hot, but the evenings will be a bit cooler and tonight, it was just glorious and breezy and it was fun to sit under our oak tree and have coffee.

Tomorrow''s Friday and you know that means Sushi night, but we''ll both be back in the gym full force on Saturday and Sunday.

I hope you''re all having a great Thursday. Here''s to Friday and the start of a great weekend too!

Sounds like you had a wonderful evening, Rod. I did have some butternut squash soup for lunch and steak, salad and sweet potato fries for dinner. J is so awesome about pampering me, especially when I''m sick. Colds this time of year are just miserable.

Indy and Marcy, I''m all for the return of Wednesday Weigh Ins, I feel more accountable that way and I definitely could use some accountability after the last few weeks of bad weigh ins. (Okay, 2 lbs. isn''t a big deal at all, but I can''t help but allow them to be huge in my own head).

I''m still a total medicine head, but won''t be taking any more cuz I have to be alert tomorrow.

Have a wonderful evening all! Hope you had a safe trip, Mara.

I ate before I went for my 4 mile walk w/my friend so I feel bloated.

I ate healthy but I don''t think I will eat a meal before walking. We were going to go to dinner but she had a lot of work to finish up.

Kimberly, I hope you feel better soon!

Zoe, walking is great exercise and it isn''t bad on your knees like running. Just swing those arms and you will do great! Kuddos on both you and FI working out!

Marcy yay for the 1/2lb; that was quick! My 2 lbs took me 2 weeks. hehe

Indy, yay for having a goal. I won''t weigh in but I will say if I lost. hehe

Rod, you and your sweet deserved a break! You are a workout maniac; in a good way. hehe I saw Tony Little on tv today and thought of ya. Does he still have his long hair???

Tomorrow I am giving myself a break! sweet dreams friends

Skippy, it''s his trademark, so yeah, he is never seen (at least that I''m aware of) without a baseball hat and his pony tail hanging through the back opening. Funny that you saw him on TV today and thought of me!!!

Rod, does he shout too like on tv (he seems to have a coach's voice)? Just curious.

zoe - ditto what Rod said on asking your trainer to set you up with one or two workouts to use each week. i started that way as well and went back for a new one every 6-8 weeks until he pretty much had introduced me to every piece of equipment/exercise in the gym. then it became a habit for me that i couldn''t walk away from.

mara - i feel your pain on the traveling thing. i leave for a weekend work trip tomorrow, yuck! i heard thru the grapevine at work that tomorrow''s team dinner is mexican - my weakness. so we shall see how healthy my eating is on this trip!

today was a fitness whirlwind. i started the day with 30 minutes of hill running repeats. then i toured one of the potential new gyms i may join at lunch time. it was pretty nice and had everything i was looking for, plus it''s only 5 minutes away (my old gym was a 20 minute drive). the only downside is the hours....i like to work out late in the winter time and it''s only open til 9 pm. so i am doing a 2 week trial and we will see how it goes. then i did 3 miles of interval running tonite and now i am pooped. tomorrow i have to do a 5 mile run in the morning before my trip b/c i won''t have time to squeeze it in when i am in dallas. my reward for running the awful hills was a short stack of multigrain pancakes. and they were DELISH! so maybe the hills were worth it afterall. my sister and i also tried a new local restaurant that just opened up the road from us and it was pretty good. i got a veggie burger and split this pretzel appetizer with her. we were loving the atmosphere of their bar so we may have found a new fun hangout.

have a great friday everyone!

Hi everyone! I did manage to get up early enough this a.m. to get in a little 20 minute workout...but before that, I actually got on the scale and lo and behold I am down another 3 pounds! I was boycotting the scale the last few weeks and I''m so glad I hopped on this morning, what a great start to the day it was. I was stuck at 159 for a while and now am down to 156...I think my changes in routine have definitely helped out with weight loss. Even though I am not exactly breaking a sweat at work, I''m on my feet all day as opposed to sitting at a desk and I know that just being less sedentary has contributed. Haven''t indulged in pizza for a while either, guess THAT has paid off as well!

Shortblonde, I know I can''t forget to eat during marathon days, I am bad about that when starting new things like this job. We don''t really take lunch breaks, it''s just kind of grab-something-when-you-get-a-chance between customers, so I''ve been bringing fruit and smoothie-type drinks just to get some nutrition. Also I have orthodontic braces, and it''s hard to find time to clean them up properly after eating something solid like granola, knim? Thanks for the suggestion, though, I appreciate your concern!

Skippy, that sounds like a very realistic goal, I''ll be rooting for you! IG, the tofu/veggie/rice dish sounds great, I really need to get into making tofu as I only eat it in takeout or premade frozen foods typically. Marcy, have fun in the new 5th wheel this weekend, that thing is humongous and I bet you''ll have so much fun. Rod, hope your Charlie is feeling better soon (you too Kimberly!), your evening under the oak last night sounds divine, since you posted pics I can see you guys in my head there enjoying quality time and coffee together, aw! Jas, sheesh woman, I hope you get some rest soon, I don''t know how you are staying awake with so little sleep. Dixie, good to see you here again, hope you came up with a good recipe to use the rest of your chicken in! Hi tdiddy, sounds like you are doing well except for the computer issue, hope you got it resolved! Lorelei, your jeans will be fitting fine again in no time, I agree with Rod that it''s the Pants-y weather there clinging to you, lol! Hi Zoe, it''s tough to find the energy after work to exercise I know, but maybe you can try eating a snack of something complex-carb (pb and granola, piece of fruit, etc.) in the afternoon that might boost your energy enough to get you through a workout, also it is sometimes just a matter of breaking through that low energy barrier a few times and just making it a habit/routine...for beginners I would just recommend journaling everything you eat for a few weeks, seeing where you''re at with calories on a daily basis just to maintain your current weight, and cut down from there, you can join sparkpeople or other website for free and also get caloric and nutrition info and figure out by plugging in numbers how many cals. you need to eat per day to lose weight. As far as exercise, 20-30 minutes a day, 3-4 times a week to start if you''ve been totally sedentary, don''t overwhelm yourself!

Have a great rest of the evening, WWTr''s, see ya FRIDAY!!!

evening all! just a quick check in before bed...my trip made for a longggg day but it was very productive meeting wise and my teammates who went along with me are wonderful, we all get along super well and have similar personalities so they are super easy to travel with. tomorrow morning i am working from home and having a meeting with my trainer, my first meeting workout...she keeps odd hours so i had to do a friday at 9am. then i'll head into the office and we have a team lunch at this fave place that i ADORE...for their tuna burgers and their dessert. soooo i am sure we'll all share the dessert but hopefully i only can have some or none at all. i am looking fwd to the tuna burger (sans bun) though.

so after 2 weeks of low sugar GI diet, today i fell bump crashed off the wagon smack dab into a huge chocolate vanilla buttercream birthday cake. we were visiting our other offices in oregon and one of the gals in the meeting on our extended team had a bday so they got this huge cake and since there were only like 10 of us in the meeting, well we ate more than 1/2 of it. i had one piece and it was very good, also...i was SO TIRED from the flight and the day that i was seriously flagging, so the sugar rush wasn't really happening. and then i had another tiny piece but that somehow turned into...umm small multiple pieces. with buttercream flowers. the funny thing was i didn't feel sick at all or anything...but i knew i didn't need the ADDITIONAL pieces. everyone thought it was so funny though that i'd been low sugar for 2 weeks then was like CAKE. but it was good cake at least...def worth it. i don't regret the first 2 pieces at least..lol.

so then i didn't want to have dinner really, because i ate 1/2 my day's cals in cake! plus i didn't want to get sucked into other traveling food items. so decided to wait til i got home and see how i felt. i was kind of hungry...so i had a 1/2 a chicken chipotle sausage chopped up with tomato and egg whites for an omelet. figure i need the protein after the carbocakeoload. OH and lunch was quiznos which i typically do not like at all, but i had a lot of salad and hardly any dressing and then i had a few quarters of the sandwiches but just ate the meat and tomatoes and like 1/8 of the bread. but really not a fan..and there was mayo so i had to be a freako and wipe it off. so overall i would have had a fine day but for cake. oh well! i would imagine in the scheme of things with my light dinner it's not a derailment, but it does remind me that i don't like how i feel after i overindulge mentally moreso than physically and why i was really happy on the lower GI thing. so i am def looking fwd to getting back on it again tomorrow and keeping my indulgences over the wkd hopefully minimal.

anyhow sounds like everyone is having a pretty good evening, and had a pretty good thurs. tomorrow is friday, yay. for dinner we might see if our neighbors want to go to this local outdoor yummy place where i get this citrus and lettuce salad with grilled chicken...they might feel okay taking the baby there as it's outdoors and no one notices a family or a baby if he's crying type of thing. so we'll see. i would like to get a walk in as well even though i am doing a 'workout' with the trainer tomorrow since i have no idea how intense that will be and i probably would feel like doing something else in the afternoon anyway. today was nice to not workout though i did get a fair amount of brisk airport walking in, esp when we had to walk to another terminal in the morning after going to the wrong one to start with, argh.

IG, i love oatmeal...i do plain organic from whole foods for 150 cals, 4g fiber and 6g protein with some sf maple syrup or the TJ's steel cut oatmeal frozen blocks for 150 cals, 4g fiber and 5g protein with sf maple syrup. i love eating it in the winter particularly. for cereals in the summer, like right now, i do mixes of diff cereals to keep it interesting but mostly kashi go lean which is 1c for 140 cals and 13g protein and 9g fiber, best bang for the buck, and either almond milk for low cals but not much nutrients or regular ff milk for lots more protein but also milk sugars. i throw slices strawberries in for some sweetening and it's very tasty.

kim sorry to hear you are sick and jas sorry to hear that your work life is getting in the way of other things you want to be doing...like yoga booty! lorelei yikes on tight pants but maybe it's just bloating! marcy don't worry you'll get the rest of the 1/2 lb off hehee. tdiddy...good luck resisting the mexican, i actually love doing grilled chicken tacos and don't eat the tortillas, add lots of lettuce, salsa and black beans and they are SOOO yummy. and much more healthy that way. sb i hear ya on being in your own bed, that is def preferrable to traveling 2 days vs 1.

happy evening all...glad to be home and thanks for the well wishes. i am traveling again on mon and tues to santa barbara, but hopefully after that i'm home for a while. hope everyone has a fab friday.
