I didn''t make it in time today for the TBT class, but I still did 30 min on the ellipitical. I''m hoping I can make it to yoga on Sunday afternoon...we have house guests this weekend and the Christmas parties are starting so I''ll be a busy girl.

Thank you all for your well wishes.Skippy, no it’s not too personal, but without being overly detailed, the car accident caused injury to my urinary tract.I’m dealing with that, so things could be worse.

Things are nutty here, there’s a lot of push-pull because the administration has asked me to finish out the semester (rather than leave on the 19th, I would stay through the end of January) and for every one nice thing or nice moment I have, there’s an equally awful moment where I say, “I would be an idiot to stay here,” but since I am on COBRA for health insurance, I really could use the money, but I then realize that I’m sort of in this position because of the school, but then I think that it’s professionally appropriate if I stay on, and I am healing but not as quickly as if I weren''t here, back and forth..…this is how my brain functions.Ew.

Just a few hellos to everyone, but Skippy, I hope you feel better.I am so sorry you are hurting.

Rod, I’m sorry you are hurting too L

I miss being here and “sharing” – but please know I’m keeping up with the reading. It’s the posting that I don’t have a heck of a lot of energy for.

However, DH and I are having sushi tonight -- no soy sauce for me, though, or Miso (salt not good for me now); however, I will be smiling because now I’m on the Rod Friday Night Dining Plan!

Hugs,

Me

Steph, those pictures are beautiful! You all make quite the attactive family!

Jas, It sound''s like you are doing a bit better. I''m so sorry that you are having to deal with the complications. Take care of yourself! Enjoy the sushi tonight!

Skippy, I hope your knee feels better. It sounds so painful. Were you doing anything unusual when it poped? Lifting anything heavy? Feel better!

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. Unfortunatly I don''t have a scale to weigh myself in the mornings at home, but I''ll just keep doing what I''m doing and I''m sure I''ll start seeing results soon. I definatly feel more in shape and healthier and Scott says he sees a difference, but I have to keep reminding myself that I''ve only been doing this for a little over a month... I''m not going to loose weight instantly.
1.gif

I wasn''t able to make it to the gym for my water aerobics class yesterday. There was a situation at work and I had to stay late. Scott is in class right now taking an exam (I get so nervous for him!) His last exam for the semester is on monday and I''m excited to see him without his face being buried in his textbooks. Law school finals time is always stressful... I''ll be happy when it''s over.

I''m going to the gym after work today and I''m leaving for my trip tomorrow morning. Hopefully I''ll get another gym session in when I get back into town on Sunday. I''ll check in again then.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!!!

Hi, you all made my evening yesterday, seriously!!! I have been icing my knee and someone cancelled their appt w/the Orthopedic Doctor so I can get in on Thursday!!! Hubby had the day off today so he has been taking care of me; he is so sweet! My sister said she went to an Orthopedic too and she thinks our problem w/our knees is hereditary

Okay, I don't think I can exercise for a little while and I will check in to tell you all I am eating healthy and I will probably do some stomach, back and arm exercises for awhile.

Jas, I am sooooo sorry; I hope you get better soon. I hope you have a good doc; I will keep you in my prayers. I miss you lots; glad you checked in but hope you get better soon.
8.gif
Enjoy your sushi!!!!

Kimi, have a safe and wonderful trip; maybe sometime if you go out there I can meet up w/you all (Dee, Jas and Monnie). I would love to visit Chicago and hubby has a friend he wants to visit this summer.

Linda, the doctor thinks it is the knee tracking and he wants me to see a good doctor. gosh I am sorry about your bil. Yay for your party and I hope it doesn't rain tomorrow! Linda I love your dog elf!!! Too funny. teeeheee

Sharon, thanks hopefully the specialist can shed some light on this; I use to be super duper active and I am in my early 30's. I would jog, hike, bike, walk, etc. Thanks; how is your knee? Dang these knees.
2.gif

Rod, that you are such a super duper sweetie pie w/extra sweet sauce. heeehee Yay for sushi tonight; cheers!

Kayak, sending good vibes to your man for his finals. You healthy; I wish you had a scale because the evening weight is does funny things. Thanks for your good wishes; they are appreciated.

Marcy, sorry work was stressful w/people not being at work to help w/the load. I hope you had a better day today! Thanks for the sweet wishes! Heheee, my hubby is good at hiding my candy and finding it unless I don't ask for it in awhile.

Tdiddy, holy moly a triathlon; you rock!!! Gosh, I will be cheering you on; when will this happen? how exciting!!!! Thanks; I am glad to hear you went to an ortho and it helped. Normally I just ask for PT but I want to know why this is happening again; you made me feel better hear you had success.

CrownJewel, thanks you are so sweet; I was just walking and got up from the sofa and it felt funny. I guess I will find out on thurs after my ortho appt. Gosh, knee surgery; are you all better? Knees are interesting; I have had lots of friends who had surgery. My dad had knee surgery too years ago. Are you sore today; sometimes I don't feel sore right away. I love friend chicken; I am in the SW so there is no good fried chicken like in the South! hehee You will get back on track w/healthy eating. Good job avoiding junk today; hospitals should have healthy fruit trays. Glad you ate carrots
9.gif

Lorelei, hey friend!

Gail, thanks for the good wishes. Yay for a good workout, kudos!!! you will lose the 1lb quick!

Steph, thanks for the good wishes! I love your elfed pics of the family and the pro ones too! Yay for a good eating day!

Jas so sorry to hear that you are messed up from the accident. that is seriously no fun. chin up...you''ll be better though it may take a little while. Skip glad you liked the elf thing, it seriously still makes me laugh. Steph great pictures of your cutie family.

Morning all...last nite was my holiday party for work and it was great. First off my boss brought donuts in yesterday, JEEZ. Sabotage at every turn. I think I had three! Light lunch and some oatmeal as well. Worked out at the gym after work...35 min on the elliptical at diff high levels. Then about 15 mintues of circuit and jump rope.

The party last nite was at what I consider a historical building because it''s the Silicon Valley Computer Museum but it originally was the first SGI building back in the beginning of the boom...when SGI was all you heard talked about here in the valley and they had something like 15 buildings. It was kind of like the Google of it''s time. People who went to the SGI main building would always come away talking about their purple and green walls or the expensive fun couches etc. So now that SGI is long gone...the main building is the Computer Museum. My company is pretty large, so they rented out the whole building. There was SO much food and drink and desserts. A rockin 80''s band..and DJ in another huge ballroom area. We had a blast..my team is super fun as is our extended team so we had like 20 people on the dance floor that we knew at any given time, but seriously I didn''t know 99% of the people there which just reminds me how large our company is. We are somewhat isolated in our area of the building because we interface more often with 3rd party vendors than internal. So anyway it was a blast last nite and I took a ton of photos!!! Funny because I didn''t eat that much, just some small plate appetizers but then they had this whole half room of desserts, so I had to try a bit of everything. Only one or two things were amazing though. Then we danced for an hour or two and came home.

This morning I got up (halfheartedly) and went to Zumba. My legs are pretty sore from last nite AND my workouts the last 2 days so I was like OW OW OW doing some of the moves. But I am glad I went. Now I am eating breakfast and listening to Christmas music on satellite tv. Tonite we have a friend''s holiday party which should be fun. And tomorrow we have a brunch for my Dad''s bday which is actually today. I have a 3 hour hair appt today for full highlight and cut as well so at least I can relax in a chair for a few hours and chat with my stylist! I think we''ll go for a walk later with Portia before we head out as well.

Hope everyone is doing well...!! Happy Saturday.

Hey guys
35.gif

Okay, I have had the absolute worst eating day that I''ve had since I started losing weight in Feb. I was so bad today. It started off in a not so healthy way for breakfast. I made DH sausage balls, which I only make during the holidays....they have breakfast sausage, cheese and bisquick. They are so super yummy and I stopped counting at 4...think I ended up eating 6 or 7 throughout the day. Then, last night I made fudge. It has to sit for a few hours after making it, so I didn''t have any last night, and I totally overdid it today. I think I had 4 pieces. The problem was that I also had a 3 hour hair appt. today that was right in the middle of lunch, so I wasn''t hungry when I left, but totally starving when I got home and started eating the fudge. We went over to Whole Foods to get something healty for dinner and got some tilapia, but when we got home, we made some cheese and crackers and some pomegranate champagne cocktails and I ate too much of that and didn''t feel like eating dinner. Anyway, so bad
38.gif
. But at least I did go for a 2 mile run this morning. Like they say, tomorrow is another day! Hope everyone has a great night!

Kayak, thanks for the sweet compliments about my fam....Hope you had a wonderful trip!

Skippy, glad you liked our elf pictures...that was so funny:) How are you feeling? So sweet of your hubby to take care of you! Hope you''re not in too much pain today!

Mara, thanks for the compliments on the pics. Your party last night sounded wonderful. Good for you for working out today afterward, that is some awesome willpower you have...I would''ve been sleeping in
11.gif
. Yay for a hair appt....I had the same done today...took me 3 hours too!

Well today I was invited to a coworkers holiday/house warming party. I met other coworkers in our office and we rode together to the party. My knee was iced all day for the past 2 days and I could walk w/o pain or swelling so I decided to go to the party (I was debating whether to go or not).

I bought biscochitos and wine/wine glass markers for the party. I ate 6 cookies there.
39.gif
Hubby and I earlier went out to eat and had fish n chips so it was a heavy meal day. Next weekend I have 2 party's so it should be a fun and busy month. I think I will bring veggies to the party's so I can eat those next time.

It was a very nice party! I caught up w/my friends/coworkers; we use to travel together for work so we became really close. They were telling me all about where they had to fly too and all the work they had to get done. It made me happy to give up that work lifestyle; I love the friends I made and the experience I had but I am happy not to fly all over the US and missing my hubby like I use to.

Mara, the party sounds like fun and glad you danced the night away! Great job for going to zumba this morning! Have fun at the party tonight! Happy Birthday to your dad! Thanks for the sweet knee wishes.

Steph, you and I both had naughty eating days. Fudge; I love fudge. You will do better tomorrow. Yay for running 2 miles

Thanks so much for asking about my knee; it is getting better.

you ladies and your fudge talk...now i must go and make some. my favorite is peanut butter fudge and my step-mom makes it every christmas which is the only time of year I eat in. i''m not going home this year though so i''m going to make my own. I will have to do it on a day when I have a party or event to go to so I can take it or else I''d easily eat the whole batch
18.gif

nothing new to report on this end. doing the pre-injury *skippy* as much as I can. Supermom is joining a bootcamp at our gym which I plan on joining too after babys is born but until then i may not get as much walking in with my partner
39.gif
although, with the weather getting cold, i prefer the treadmill at the gym anyway so it might not be so bad.

i hope all of you are having a wonderful dec. weekend and enjoying the holiday season...

Hey Everyone!

Didnt get a chance to check in last night. We had Sushi with two couples (one is a couple from our last neighborhood and their best friends) and we came back to our place and by the time they left it was nearly midnight. So, yesterday was kind of a blur.

Today has been a good day. We slept in a bit, then did our normal Saturday stuff, including a really productive session at the gym. We came home and then we were heading out for dinner, not knowing where we were going and when the elevator doors opened a lovely retired couple who lives in our building were also heading out to dinner, so they invited us along. He''s 78 and she''s 74 and their more youthfull than you can imagine. So we wound up at a little Italian restaurant they like, which we''d never been to and low and hehold the owner used to work at an Italian restaurant near our old neighborhood and he was our server for several years, so it was fun to know where he is now and he even hugged us when we came in. Of course he went out of his way to ensure our dinners were really good, which they were. But, I''m no longer used to eating such rich food and it upset my stomach. It was great, but won''t likely be something I can do too often. Still, we had a lovely time.

Also, we met a nice man at the gym and he told us he and his partner own a deli pretty close to where we live, so we went to their deli for lunch and it was just terrific. We both had soup and 1/2 sandwich and everything was just so good and fresh. We''ll definitely go there again soon.

Steph, your family could be on the cover of a magazine. You guys are a great looking family for sure!

Jas, welcome to the Friday night Sushi club! Sorry you''re still having issues after the accident. I''m not sure whether I can offer congrats on being extended at that whacky school or not. I hope for your sake the extension won''t be hard for you.

Skippy, I''m glad you''re getting to see the ortho earlier than you hoped. I''m still hoping by the time you go, the pain is gone and you''re sitting there wondering why you bothered to go in the first place! Glad you had a good time at the party!!

Kimblery, I hope you have a great time in Chicago. This trip should be so much less stressful than the last one with the fires raging so close to your house.

Tomorrow will be a regular Sunday. Breakfast on the terrace (it''s in the 80''s here in Tampa!), followed by lunch and then a good workout at the gym. I hope you''re planning a great Sunday.

Hi everyone. We didn’t make it to the graduation last night but did go to our company Christmas party. It was fun. I ate a small piece of chicken, a small piece of roast beef, some pototoes, raw veggies and a small piece of cake. That wasn''t bad but I sure should have stopped at one glass of wine. I was pretty buzzy all night after 2 1/2 glasses.
We got about 5 inches of snow yestesrday. Our high temp for today was about 14 degrees. Brrr.
I made up a new photo of me at different times in the last year and I can’t believe the difference in the last month. I only lost 6 pounds in November but I can sure tell I’ve lost inches. It’s so motivating to see results like that.
Tdiddy, I’m glad the doctor has been able to help your knee problems. I am sure I’ll be fav aunt for at least a day when my niece gets her present. It sounds like your weather is about as warm as ours. That is way cool there is an olympic triathlon coming to your town in June. I am sure you’ll have a great time participating that that.
CrownJewel, I went out and ran a few errands today and took the side streets. My car does great in the snow it’s the other drivers I worry about. That’s nice your trainer called to see how you were doing today; that’s service. Good for you throwing out the cinnamon bun and ice cream. I eat a lot of carrots and grape tomatoes. I think my DH is sick of them but they sure help me fill up when I’m hungry.
TanDogMom, that’s great you had a wonderful workout. Your veggies and pasta sounds good.
Steph, congratulations for loosing another pound. The cookies sound like a lot of work but as long as Andrew enjoyed making them and eating them; it sounds like time well spent. Your family photos on the beach are terrific. You have a lovely family. I can’t wait to get the earrings to my niece. They are nice diamonds. No worries about having an off day of eating. Tomorrow is another day.
Hi Lorelei, how is your weather? I can certainly say ours is pants and will be for the foreseeable future.
Kimi, I hope you are having a wonderful time in Chicago.
Mara, I’m hoping my old eating habits don’t ever come back. I was a total sweet food junkie before. That is wonderful how you are normalizing eating and paying attention to when you are full. I am amazed at how satisfied I feel with one little piece of candy. It’s nice to feel so in control. I hope you have a great time at all your parties this weekend. Happy Birthday to your dad.
Appletini, I hope you have time for yoga tomorrow. I’ve got one Christmas party down and 2 to go.
Jas, sorry to hear you are still having problems related to the accident. I am sending get well wishes your way. Good luck deciding what to do about extending your stay at school.
Kayak, that is wonderful news you feel more in shape and healthier. That is exciting that your hard work is noticeable.
Skippy, I am glad to hear your knee feels better. I found quite a few stretches and exercises with free weights I can do setting down. They aren’t really a hard workout but I figure anything helps. If tracking is what is wrong with your knee they might be able to strengthen those muscles with PT. I’m glad you get to see the orthopedic doctor on Thursday. There are a lot of people with knee problems. I’ve had both my knees operated on. I have degenerative arthritis in them and both knee caps were out of alignment so they weren''t tracking right.
MrsSalvo, PB fudge is one of my favorites too. I usually make it right before our family get together and leave it all there.
Rod, your dinner with the couple in your building sounds fun. It is so neat you are pampered by some many of the restaurant owners. Extra service and care is always an added bonus. The last time I tried alfredo sauce it didn''t set well with me. It is way too rich for me now. That is great to find a nice deli close to you.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Hi everyone. It is still cold here today but the sun is out. The trees were beautiful this morning with snow and frost on them and the sky was a beautiful clear blue. I took a few pictures just from my front and back porch.
My DH informed me he does not want me shoveling snow. It is such great exercise and I never minded it. Heck when I weighed 320 pounds, couldn’t breathe, had high blood pressure, a rapid heart beat and some chest pains I did it. He didn’t like it then either. He doesn’t want me falling on ice. Which is nice but it’s exercise. Oh well.
Speaking of falling on ice, my mom’s X-rays show that she has a compressed disk with a hairline fracture. She is in a lot of pain. I took her some roses today.
I am making homemade beef noodle soup again today. It was so good last weekend and since it’s colder today I decided to have an instant replay of last weekend.
I weighed after eating BF today and was at 183.8 so that puts me at minus 137 pounds. Woo hoo! I hope to be in the 170’s by the New Year. Of course there are several holiday events between now and then where I guarantee I will eat more than normal including a pizza party.
Rod, I thought of you having breakfast on your terrace today. I won’t be dining on my patio at all. I am posting some of my snow pictures below.
Lorelei, sorry to hear you are having pants weather too. I am sure the mud is a mess with Jasmine. Yay for getting in some good workouts.
Kimi, I am glad to hear you are having a blast. That is wonderful.
MrsSalvo, yes please. Post your PB fudge recipe.
Skippy, I hope your knee is doing better today.
Take care. Laters.

This tree was my height when we planted it 12 summers ago. Last year my husband had to make about a 7 foot poll to use on a ladder to decorate it with lights. This year it's way to tall for him to decorate. Rats.

Hi, guys. I had a pretty bad day as far as eating once again...not quite as bad as yesterday, but the fudge was calling me....I''ve got to get this stuff out of my house! I''m sending the rest with DH to work tomorrow to share with coworkers. I had 2 pieces today. Andrew also had a bday party and I shared a small piece of cake w/ him
6.gif
. I''m going hard core next week and then DH''s holiday party is next weekend. Oh well, the fudge is a 1 time of the year treat so I won''t beat myself up too bad about it. Dinner was Whole Foods lobster bisque and a few whole wheat crackers and cheese, so not too terrible there.

Skippy, I bought my parents a dig. frame for Christmas too. It is the Kodak Easy Share....we haven''t loaded the pics yet, so I''m not sure about the quality, but I will report back to you once we do that in the next day or so.

Mrs.Salvo, the peanut butter fudge sounds divine...I would eat way too much of that if I made it, but I might make it and send it to work with DH:)

Rod, thanks for the compliment about our pics. Your sushi night sounds like fun...I have been craving sushi, might have to go this week. Hope you have a better week at work this upcoming week.

Lorelei, sorry the weather has been so pants lately
7.gif
Yay for your good workouts!

Kimi, glad you are having so much fun! Stay warm!

Marcy, I LOVE your tree picture...that is so pretty and looks like a postcard!

MrsSalvo, unfortunately a white Christmas comes with cold temperatures. I have to admit it is pretty. I hope you get a white Christmas some day.
Steph, don’t beat up yourself about fudge. Like you said; it’s only once a year. 2 pieces of it aren’t going to kill you. I am thinking of getting a digital frame too so let me know what you think. I’m glad you like my tree; it is so pretty with snow on it.
Skippy, I’m glad you like my pictures. So your DH had to do some adjustments on the digital frame, huh? I might get one too. I love to take photos.
My husband and I played scrabble this afternoon. He beat me. I always seem to have no vowels and can usually only come up with 3 and 4 letter words. Rats. We didn’t get our tree out yet but will maybe work on it tomorrow night.

MrsSalvo, unfortunately a white Christmas comes with cold temperatures. I have to admit it is pretty. I hope you get a white Christmas some day.

aw marcy, I grew up in Ohio so I had my fair share of White Christmas''s and the cold weather. I do miss the snow at times, especially for my kids who have such little experience playing in it or sled riding etc. we might get and inch or two, usually in Jan or Feb. but it''s just not the same. Of course, it was 70 degrees here today, so living in the south does have it''s perks

MrsSalvo, I''m sure you had a lot of white Christmas''s growing up in Ohio. I envy your 70 degree weather today. It''s actually warmed up to 18 degrees now. Woo hoo!

Marcy.....14 degrees.......OH NO......Rod doesn''t do 14 degrees, but the pics are just beautiful! Thankis for posting them, "Rod typed" as he was sitting in shorts and a t-shirt, having just come in from the terrace, where it''s breezy and oh so delightful outside........LOL And Woo Hoo girl for the extra weight lost!! You''re like the ''Energizer Bunny'', you just keep going and going and going!!

Glad you''re having a gastric-good-time in Chicago Kimberly!!

Skippy, I think it''s a good idea to keep your doctor''s appointment and I''m just going to have to keep up the lovely weather reports if that''s what it would take to get you here!!!

Steph, looking at the pics of you, I don''t think a couple pieces of fudge will do you any harm there, ya know??!! Probably a good idea sending them to the office with hubby though! The holiday''s are a tough time to be a perfect angel food-wise. Just enjoy - responsibly!

Sorry for the "pahnt''s" weather Lorelei. I hope the sun comes out soon for you! I''m glad you''re not letting the weather derail your workouts!!

Glad you enjoyed the 70 degree weather Mrssalvo. Sometimes I miss snow this time of year, then I think about what Marcy was writing about - Shoveling it and I think, Oh how lucky we are not to have any snow to shovel.

Today was just the most beautiful day you could imagine. We had breakfast on the terrace and it was sunny, breezy, warm, now humidity, just simply stunning. One of our neighbor''s son details cars at night. Odd time for sure, but while we slept last night, he was busy washing and waxing our cars. So, it was nice to wake up go down to the garage and see two impeccably shined cars. They look better than the day we drove them home from the dealer and the wax he uses is supposed to last at least 6 months. We decided to do a little shopping, so we went to the mall and hit Nordstrom and I bought Charlie a few things. We''re not going overboard this year for sure as we''re not too confident about the longevity of our jobs, so we''ve set a much lower limit than in year''s gone by, but honestly, at this point in our lives, there isn''t much we need anyway. Since we went shopping, we didn''t hit the gym until nearly 4:30, but we did a complete workout and didn''t get out of the gym till nearly 7. We steamed some shrimp for dinner and had a couple jumbo stone crab claws, some steamed cabbage and we split one of those sqaushes I''ve mentioned, SO Good!!

We''ve just been relaxing tonight. Charlie''s off tomorrow and he''ll probably go to the gym during the day when it''s quite and he''ll then meet me at favorite sushi spot #2 for dinner.

I guess that''s about all the news from our side of the planet. I hope you had a great weekend and are looking forward to the new week. Hopefully, my week will be less stressful and I can just get some work done.

Sleep well everyone!

Rod, I have on a long sleeve t-shirt (under a fleece top) and sweats. I am glad to hear you had a lovely day and were able to enjoy the fine, warm weather on your terrace. Thanks for the woo hoo - I feel more like a tortoise than the energizer bunny but I do just keep plugging along. Your shopping trip to Nordstorms sounds fun. I wish I could hire your neighbor’s son to clean and detail my car. It’s a mess with all this snow.
