With the great help of everyone here (especially Gypsy!), I was able to narrow down exactly what I am looking for in a ring. I want a 1ct, Pear Shape (9x6approx dimensions), I or better, Eye Clean stone. Budget for the stone is about 3500

I was working with Joseph Jewelers in Washington and even got down to a down payment, but upon researching the stone they were providing, they were charging me several hundred dollars more then the exact stone at another vendor. When I asked to match that price, they declined. I played hard ball, and they refunded my money, which is OK by me.

I have given David Klass two designs I want to mimic, and he will build the setting for me at a very affordable price.

David has even provided a great stone, 1ct GIA (# 6215483491) F color, SI2 clarity (eye clean), VG polish, VG symmetry. This is what I believe is a great stone, but I am not sure. He is really easy to work with. He said I can choose his stone or have the fine folks @ Pricescope choose another, his setting price does not differ.

I have attached images of his stone. Let me know what you all think!

I do not love it, but I know that with your lady size is most important. Is there a reason why you did not order that other pear from the place that had it listed cheaper? I am happy you are working with David Klass.

Gypsy, I didn't purchase the same stone from the other vendor as I remember several members of the board stating that there were better pears out there.

I am possibly looking at that 1.10 stone. I requested an ASET for the other.

I'm with Gypsy: unless the stone is picking up the black from the camera, it's got a significant bowtie. I also find the faceting mushy at the top. Too much crushed ice for me - but some people like that look. She's got a nice face-up, however, and attractive proportions!

Yeah that was my exact thought, was a significant bow tie.

Which is why I come here for help!

Any more opinions?

Bowtie. A bad one. The problem with shallow stones is that they will bowtie more strongly than ones that are cut slightly deeper. That probably why the DK stone was showing such a strong one.

Is there any way to purchase the original stone from the other vendor that has it cheaper? I dont know what you mean
by several hundred dollars ($200, $300 or more) but, sometimes it's not worth fighting over because now you may end up
with a smaller stone...I get that the extra money could buy you a few months of groceries (I can do a lot with $300+) but nice
pears are hard to come by.

Hopefully, we can find one!

Edit - I do not like the one in the picture...the feathering of the facets from the bow-tie area to the point and to the north end
is not nice...lets just say it looks like a typical pear and no better IMO.

Edit ...I'll throw these out...not perfect but your budget is a little tight...
http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-8478510-1.01-carat-Pear-diamond-I-color-SI1-clarity.aspx looks like the bright area goes pretty far down
towards the point and up to the North side...only 8.36x5.69
I'll look for some more possibilities.

There is the stone for the lower price. If I purchase that stone and get the setting with David Klass, I would be saving $500.00 from Joseph Jewelers. I tried to have Joseph Jewelers meet me in the middle, but they would not.

But I know there could be better stones out there. I am in no rush, so I have time to wait for the best stone.

Darn, I wish they had a real photo so we know what we are trying to beat faceting wise. At least we know what size we are trying
to get to. Meeting in the middle sounds fair. I'm surprised they were not willing to do that giving that you were going to buy a setting
from them. And, if all else fails you can still get that stone as long as it doesnt sell.

I found one that is 9X5.8 that looks interesting. The rounded end looks pretty nice faceting wise. The well defined facets look to go
pretty far south...the pointed end is the typical mush. Unfortunately it is shallow. Would be nice to see a video to see how it looks
in real life.

Another one worth looking at...also slightly shallow. Will need to find out if it suffers due to the shallowness + make sure eye-clean
http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-8607023-1.01-carat-Pear-diamond-I-color-SI1-clarity.aspx $3000

Another interesting one that is larger...not sure what is going on in it because it's mostly showing twinning wisp but it looks like
there is some kind of inclusion down at the bottom towards the rounded end but I dont really see anything on the inclusion map.
http://www.b2cjewels.com/dd-8217682-1.04-carat-Pear-diamond-I-color-SI1-clarity.aspx would have to talk to b2c

An H but looks like it may have a darker bow-tie

Ok, that's it for me. Maybe none are perfect but gives you some different choices when you're ready.

Am I crazy considering a K ??? I am hoping it's fluorescence and my Rose Gold setting helps it look white face up. What do yall think?

Well. Hmm. I think you should call David and talk to him about it.

Go from there.

I just don't really know what you are doing. I showed you a lovely D. She'll be able to brag that it is a D. And with the halo it will be a big look. At this point I think maybe you need to save up another 1000 bucks and revisit the issue later.
