Somebody's Gotta Buy This Piece!

I could not tell if this was for sale or not - it was unclear by the post! Is it’s Kim’s or another jeweler?

I think she’s selling it

Old cut experts, what are your thoughts on this one? I read through very informative posts from @Dreamer_D but I have long way to go learning wise.
Pardon our interruption

Ring is here, it is very sparkly and the main diamond has slight fluorescence. The shank is shaped like a knife edge and is 0.9mm thick at the bottom. Is that too thin? There is some damage to the gallery i didn’t notice in the photos but now that i know it is there i do see it in the photos.

is it plat? anecdotally I had an antique moval with a similarly worn band and I got about a year of wear out of it before it warped and and was so structurally damaged I've set it aside for a reset.

It is thin, but the shank seems to be in good shape nonetheless. Its durability might surprise you. I have one that is similarly thin in 14k WG and it has proven to be surprisingly sturdy.

It is 18K gold. Yep, it getting damaged fast is what i am worried about and I am asking myself whether it makes my heart sing enough that i want to plan for near future repairs

Most of the value is in the setting so if that’s not in good condition then I don’t think it’s good value.

That is what i have been mulling over and knew i could count on PS to provide input.

I really like the diamond seems so clear

@Drahokam, that is a gorgeous Granat Bros. Ring, their jewelry is very well made so this is a treasure. The main diamond has that kozibe that we all love and look for. The band is very thin but I would just keep an eye on it. How do all the prongs look? I’d say if the prongs are good to just wear with care and enjoy it.

Avoid carrying heavy items or doing anything strenuous or rough while wearing it that could put excess pressure on the band and you should be good for a while.

All main diamond prongs are there and look good. The side diamonds, to the left and right of the main stone-one of those side diamonds is missing one prong (3 instead of 4), the other side diamond has all 4 prongs. The gallery has small chips in the metal, just above the filigree bars. It is on both sides, maybe as it was worn with a wedding band.
I am quite good about taking off rings and jewelry in general for manual work, sports etc…

I remeasured the shank and the most impacted area is down to one 0.7mm, the rest is 0.9mm. That is the only thing that gives me pause as i was not thinking i would need to plan for reshank. The center diamond is so sparkly that my eyes have trouble telling where the stone ends and where the metal starts (the gold is so very white).

The ring is very pretty and the diamond is lovely as others said. For me I think the very thin shank is too much for me, so to keep it I would get it reshanked. I’d factor that in and consider if the markers marked could be preserved or not. If you love it then it may be worth it.

I concur with @Dreamer_D, if the shank is a concern now it will continue to bother you. Reshank it and you will have many more years of enjoyment and peace of mind.

I wonder what kind of metal it is though? Is it antique white 18k gold? That could be hard to match in color for a reshank.

Would the whole shank need to be replaced or could you do a half shank or a quarter shank? I have no idea of the cost of any of these things but just wondering if its the .7 that bothers you and not the .9 then maybe just the .7 portion could be replaced.

I think this is a cute Asscher ring. This is an example of where someone might have pulled a mined diamond from a setting and replaced with a lab diamond, because it doesn’t quite fit perfectly. Still pretty, IMO.

The white gold is so white, it is the prettiest white gold i have seen so far (admittedly i am not an expert)

I am in SF Bay area and was quoted $400 for reshank on a rather dainty ring and they also quoted $400 for resize from 5.5 to 8.25 on another dainty ring. I need to find a more reasonable solution, possibly look for a bench further north from SF.

I just want to add thank you guys so much for taking the time to discuss this, i really appreciate it. Noone around me is interested in jewelry and gemstones.

Maybe if you go to a smaller city the cost would be less? I just have no idea of a reasonable cost.

What are the stats of the 3stone?! looks like great sizes!
