Somebody's Gotta Buy This Piece!

This is a cool find. I like all the gold details and texture.

I have a tattoo like this (I have a bunch of Egyptian tattoos actually) and i am always trying to find a piece that looks like it, this is really cool!

Idk I like old stuff that’s already monogrammed. I think it’s cool. But I wouldn’t buy something like that since obv those aren’t my kids and it would be a little weird. But “Pam, Betsey and Joe” on an old love token? I’d do it. But maybe I’m the odd one out.

Gorgeous! Shakes the money tree lol

I think there are multiple pairs on ebay I just linked the first one that came up for me, probably could find a better deal

A rotating brooch in egyptian revival, anyone seen something like this before?

Here’s another Egyptian revival brooch using the same beading as yours to define feathers. But the brooch you posted seems Victorian (vendor says it’s English) versus this first one in the link which looks early 20th C. The second link is Cartier 1929 Egyptian revival.

Are you still looking?

Thanks for suggesting this. It’s really gorgeous, likely modern, but that can be good too because the antique Edwardian/Belle Epoque rose cut eternities can be quite “diverse” (irregular) in terms of their collection of rose cuts… with possibly some replacements.

But long story short: I also found and bought a rose cut platinum eternity already, so this one is fair game. Beautiful ring!

The story of finding one is pretty long. I saw a platinum rose cut eternity ring with French poincon/metal mark stamp “head of a dog” and a maker’s mark stamp on line one day but it sold as soon as it was posted. I contacted the busy vendor, who is in France, asking them to notify me if they ever came across another.

Then I started looking for others and I realized that turn of the 20th Century rose cut eternities are extremely rare. Most (very few) were French or English white gold, one was French yellow gold and platinum. A couple were French silver. A couple were platinum half shank. I was looking for one with larger stones (2.5mm rose cuts with 2.7mm shank width) that were close together versus spaced apart. I was looking to duplicate the ring I had already seen.

So I looked for quite a few months. I was even searching France EBay and learned what the French words were to describe the ring I was looking for.

One night I was bored and not really looking anymore but I viewed French EBay again. It’s quite fun, France doesn’t sell as much antique jewelry as UK, and USA, but they do have nice Belle Epoque and later stuff. And up popped the ring I had seen months ago. Same vendor. Exact same ring, same stamps and stamp placement, same size and materials. Same price, This was in the middle of the night, so I immediately bought it.

And of course a week later I had to run down the block after my mail delivery person on a Friday at 4pm to retrieve my package from France.

I’m wearing it now. It’s nice, size 7 so middle finger. (I was not going to wait for one in my ring finger size). Now I think I’ll try to find a higher carat yellow gold band to stack with it but I’m waiting for a bargain as per usual.

The vendor was able to tell who the French maker is from the other stamp on the shank, but he didn’t tell me who the maker was. I can find out if I want.

Aside. I’m going to link to a really high quality vendor on Instagram, BerganzaLondon, who, here, posts about how they use/own a huge dictionary of French maker’s marks. The book looks like it’s six inches thick. But also it’s amazing that so many fine jewelers were in France in the 19th Century/early 20th to fill a maker’s mark dictionary like that. It’s a nice video; enjoy the beautiful marquise diamond and secondly, the ruby rings. I think all are French. Maybe my ring’s makers mark is in there!

And you don't think we want to see this band?

Anybody into dragonflies? I think this pin/pendant is so pretty. Takes offers, but not returnable.

I do but that price omg. It's a niche thing

I know. Not sure what a fair price would be, but I do like it. Pins and pendants like that are just not my thing though.

I love this!! The Chat GPT description is so cringe worthy though.

Occasionally I copy such descriptions into ChatGPT with the instructions "Rewrite this with only the important info. Strip out the BS." (But only occasionally, because climate change.)

This is so funny! I can't believe they don't even proof read their listings.

I was initially just laughing at the description, but then I realized that I literally just bought a ring from them (last week) and I don't buy things that often. I had never heard of them before, but I got an ad for an item on 1st dibs, clicked on it, and their ring was in the bottom banner of other items I might like (and I did like it). I was looking for a cocktail ring and when I got the ring it was at least 3x larger than in the photo (and it was substantial in the photo), as well as the gemstones being a different color (more red in photos vs very pink IRL) - not misdescribed at all, just different lighting and different photo angle I guess. I shipped the ring back to them to return it, they were very friendly and pleasant, however they accidentally sent me a shipping label that went to another customer instead of to their store! I didn't realize; they proactively called me to let me know and to assure me that it would be sorted out. In any case, I think if someone is interested in an item from this store I would actually recommend them, but I would go to their website directly and email/chat with them first to get additional photos and info. They seem quite responsive (M-F).

I just don’t need to read all that crap. Just tell me the stats.

Looks pretty and great price:
