Somebody's Gotta Buy This Piece!

Be very careful with the first one. Yes, they have a 100% rating and a lot of sales… if you try to return with them, they require positive feedback before they refund you. I have spoken with them twice on two separate items and the conversation has not been friendly.

Wow, I’ve returned two things with them and they never communicated with me or asked for positive feedback first
This is so promising to hear … I’m glad you had a better experience than I did … maybe things changed since my experience ❤️

I doubt it because it was years ago for me. So if anything they’ve changed for the worse!

Were you looking for a 22k Tiffany band, speakeasyjewels on IG posted a size 5.25 or size 5.5 with a 1915 inscription

She is so nice!!! An advocate for honesty in the antique jewelry world as well (very honest herself, discloses everything, posts warnings about sketchy sellers)!

I personally view antique Tiffany pieces in an entirely different category as modern Tiffany. I don’t seek out these pieces because they are marked Tiffany. I look for them because the talent Tiffany’s jewelers had in the early 1900’s was incredible. Tiffany had the ability to compensate their jewelers - and because of this, attracted some of the most talented artists. Their metal work is unlike anything I have ever seen. They were more concerned with presenting their level of skill through their work than pumping out pieces to increase production. They were true masters of their trade and focused on creating incredible pieces one at a time. Several artists that used to work for T, left and started their own business… Marcus and Co being one of them, I look for their earlier pieces too… absolutely beautiful. Metal work like this is very much a lost art. There are a couple jewelers around today that could pull something like this off, but they are few and far between, the price would be close to $5k, likely more, and you loose my favorite piece… the feeling that comes with owning an original piece.

I look at them as one does a painting. Irreplaceable.

Would I pay $5k for this setting and have something cut to fit? If it spoke to me, absolutely. I can tell you this, if I ever come across an antique Tiffany setting that Flora fits in, I won’t be sharing it until she’s redressed lol!

I will also say, Fred of 47J is very kind and wonderful to work with. I met with him over Christmas and wouldn’t hesitate to buy from him.

You seem to have a ton of knowledge on early 1900s Tiffany which I’m super interested in. Any thoughts on what decade of the late 1800s/early 1900s seemed to have the best craftsmanship if there was a difference? Do you know if the pieces were hand forged vs cast during this time? Thanks!

This has already been shared by @lovedogs. Now on sale. I love the saturation of the ruby but it could look dark in person, photos shine light through it. Lots of 900 platinum and nicely made.

Several times when buying CS from TRR, I have found that they significantly increased the saturation on their photos. So be aware of the potential for that as well. I never had a problem returning, though.

Good information, thank you.

These 18k rose cut diamond (5.5mm diameter) ruby halo earrings look plausibly antique.

Ivy and Rose sellls old cut lab diamonds. In this case I want to share - the cuts are really authentic looking but an older style. I stumbled on this on Canada eBay but I’m sure it’s listed in USA.

Pretty authentic. I hope what is pictured is the actual item… and $1000 per carat! They just be cutting them themselves.
