But it is the size I want and in my budget

Repeat: patience Dreamer, patience.

yssie... you''re gonna hate me but WHY NOT? It looks beautiful and the price and the size and it''s stats? Dreamer, could you feel good about this in a simple 3 stone band?

Since I have DOCD (Diamond Obesessive Compulsive Disorder) and AADHD+NP (Adult ADHD with No Patience) I am on team buy that diamond!

to clarify: I just read your post from your Band for the Buck thread and it said:

"Ideal: 1.99ct, G, VS2... I do not want higher color, I really like G color, and VS2 is totally mind clean to me and desirable.
Deal breaker (is this the lowest I will go?): 1.65ct, I, SI2... but not all three. I would go this low on any one variable to get the others."

And this beauty your looking at is 1.666, J, VS1... so it fits those parameters so nicely. I mean, the J is softer but I think you''ll love having such nice clarity.

The other thing, in that other thread, Cehrabehra wisely had you consider priorities... but one thing not mentioned is the priority of "I want it right now, darn it!!!!" And I actually think that''s important. Some people don''t have much of an issue waiting-it doesn''t cost them undue stress and also, somehow, adds to the eventual satisfaction. I am not one of those people. While I''m not totally impulsive, it is very important to me to get what I want within a decent time frame, otherwise it just nags at me and distracts me. So within reason, I highly value going for it.

So on the chance that others, who tend toward the patient, will wag their finger at me - I recommend AT LEAST getting and seeing this diamond in person. What''s the harm in that? In the day or two you''re waiting to get it, you can calm down a little, knowing that it''s not lost to you and have a little satisfaction that you''re giving it a chance. Then you can evaluate, in person, how that J really feels to you.

That''s my advice and I''m sticking to it!

Oh, Dreamer, it's a beauty. Perfect size, price, and the clarity is swoon-able. I've not seen a J in that size range, so I have no opinion on the color. But many here have J's of that size, and larger, as you know, and they love them.

Is it possible for you to see it in person? Or is the expense of shipping, customs, etc., prohibitive?

Is it possible for Brian and Lesley to photograph the stone at different angles under different lighting and/or make a video? You've seen enough diamonds in your life that a video of this stone may be enough for you to say yay or nay.

I agree with missydebby -- the "want it now" feeling is torture for many of us!

But I do think this one is a contender.

It seems like a very nice diamond but I would not buy it just because that would be the end all for you and you never know what the future may bring. Hang in there.....

Given that you have said that your ultimate dream diamond is not financially viable at the moment I think you need to be prepared to either accept a less than perfectly ''mind clean'' diamond and love it for the time being in spite of it''s shortcomings, or to wait until you can afford to get the diamond of your dreams.

I hope that doesn''t sound harsh because I can certainly understand where you are coming from, but it seems that much of your dissatisfaction with your diamonds to date seems to be rooted in your (perfectly understandable)desire for a bigger diamond. Looking at BGD''s inventory it would seem that in order to jump to G in a similar size and clarity as the J you have linked to you would need to spend around an extra 6K which is nearly half your current budget. I would imagine you could get yourself some pretty nice floors or other home improvements with that amount of money. Is the G colour really worth that much to you?

Personally I am all about value for money, and in your position I think I would go for something along the lines of this diamond because it would allow me to have the size I wanted without overtaxing the finances. Diamonds are a tricky hobby to have. We are building a house at the moment and have found ourselves spending more money than we ever could have dreamed spending when we started out and I often think about how frivolous my ring is in comparison, but I do love it so.

Good luck with your decision Dreamer!

Dreamer, I think you need to have a talk with yourself

This diamond will be gorgeous, amazingly eye and mind clean, big, and white too anyone who isn''t you
1.gif
For you, realistically you need to say will this be "mind big enough" and "mind white enough"? even for the short-term....b/c all these little upgrades are probably starting to add up (what with taxes, setting fees....I think if you are going down to J you should try to hit the 1.75+ size in SI1+ clarity then at least you would know that you had 2 of your 3 goals accomplished. I think it will tide you over longer

That''s a beaut! Would you be happy with a J though?

she can always upgrade to a G color in the future.

HI:

Given the color--I''d surmise this is not your Hugh Jackman.

Is it upgradable?

Is the diamond upgradable? I responded thinking it was not. If you can keep your upgrade policy than I would say go for it.

Don''t settle, dreamer!

I would get this stone and upgrade color later. You may just love the stone as is anyway and not want to upgrade in the future.

Especially since it will be within budget.

BTW, be careful about posting stones that you are interested in. Someone lurking around may see this thread and snatch it up.

It happened to me when I posted about two stones I was interested in a while back. Within days, both stones were gone.

I know what you''re saying by saying "don''t settle", but aren''t all of us non-Rockafellers always trying to find the balance within our settle?

I mean Dreamers real non-settler is:

"Ideal: 1.99ct, G, VS2... I do not want higher color, I really like G color, and VS2 is totally mind clean to me and desirable.
Deal breaker (is this the lowest I will go?): 1.65ct, I, SI2... but not all three. I would go this low on any one variable to get the others."

And the cost of that non-settler is round bouts $29,000 and the cost of a non-settler on the low end is round about $13,000 to $14,000.

But doesn''t those examples mean that she''ll have to compromise in terms of cost. I seem to remember Dreamer stating that she didn''t want to go above 11 to 12k for the whole ring (stone plus setting) in that it was too much just in theory.

So in a world of compromises, this, IMHO, ain''t a bad one to at least check out.

Dreamer,in my best Californian beach accent... dude, just get it home and look at it and then decide. Seeerosly.

Yes! You can always return it. You certainly wouldn''t have to worry about visible inclusions with this one!

If it was me, I would go for it. You have nothing to lose. If its not right you can return it. Leave it too long, it may get snapped up and it could be a long time before anything comes your way. Add into that the possibility of a price increase............

Good luck! I hope you can get this resolved as soon as possible!!!

Only because it's a J, and dreamer seems to really want that H, and I think it's worth waiting to see what Brian brings back in May!

ETA: I see it's reserved! Is that you, dreamer?

Dreamer, do you have something to share with us????

OK, YES, I reserved it!
23.gif

I am still thinking about it and don''t want a lurker to steal it.

I spoke to Brian and he said he had expected the stone to come out as an I color grade, and that it is a steely J not a yellow/brown J. He said it is very far from a K. And it is huge
2.gif
The clarity is overkill, but both DH and I kinda like it -- it would be eye clean!
4.gif

Something has to give for me to get the size I want for the budget we have. It would not be noticably smaller than a 1.75ct.

I am pondering.
