I hope that nobody minds if I post my non-Mahenge spinel here. It is a gorgeous neon pink red spinel from Vietnam and it weighs 5.12 carats. I absolutely adore it! It has no extinction or window.

Gingercurls, it's beautiful. I also have a Sri Lankan pink spinel, but it is not as vivid as yours. It does have fluor though.

sapphirecats - Someone here kindly offered me a hot pink spinel from Burma when I was looking for my first mahenge...still kicking myself for not going for it, the color of yours is killer.

gingercurls - 5.12 carats at that color - wow.

I think it was two little birds search for a mahenge that got me itching to add one more to my collection

can any of you direct me to a vendor that has Spinels ? I'm looking to have a ring made combining Spinels with some diamonds I have in a ring not being used.
Looking for approx. 1.5 c main Spinel and two .5 c side Spinels. I prefer the hot pink coloration.

My mahenge spinel is a bit unusual in that though its red, its not very large, but its also a very silky stone. When I bought the stone, prices of mahenges were just starting to really take off. So when I saw this one, I jumped on it. Originally I teetered because the photography wasn't the best. Boy I'm glad I went for it.

Setting is a LOGR in 18K yellow. I always thought I would upgrade the setting, but strangely enough, it looks very at home. I'd probably only change it if I were going with an E/W setting of the same type....lol

Thanks pregcurious! Yes I did a catalogue selection. I just point to the ring and said I want that setting , only change is my ring has single prongs not double. The original ring was an antique emerald cut diamond centre stone.
