Hi Yssie, my DH now wants a leather band Rolex too, with a "deployment strap". WHAT?? So I'm gonna have to do some research of my own too. ;-) Your DH's watch is beautiful...
LLJ
This is what he meant by "deployant strap"
Dancing Fire, thank you so much. So it's like metal strap, but leather, and adjustable I assume? Do you like it and do you find it easy to use? Any pros and cons, if you don't mind sharing? You don't happen to know if Rolex makes those with leather straps? I guess I should stop by an authorized dealer...
[/quote]

I think that's it! I *think* (could be wrong!) that he means that back-and-forth hinge thingy specifically? That you attach to where there would usually be a buckle in a leather strap - so that you don't actually poke the pointy part of the buckle through the holes in the leather strap to secure it on the wrist, you just snap the hinge closed, and you can adjust where size by which hole you pick to attach the hinge into..

LOL!!! OMG. "Back and forth hinge thingy". I'm banning myself from this thread, I'm an embarrassment to it

See, THAT is cool.

I am hoping for a Ballon Bleu for my 40th. Several more years to wait. In the meantime trying to find a similar look. Found a few, but none in the pricerange I want to shell out right now. I loved the 31mm midsize rolex I tried on in Hawaii too. I know this is sacrilege around here, but I don't want diamonds on my watch and boy is that ever hard to find!

LLJsmom...thank you! The blue hands are one of my favorite things about Cartier watches!

Sharon, is your watch like this one (31mm) except the color of the dial, obviously? I tried it on and loved it but I much prefer the silver/rhodium dial.

DS, I have this one, and I love the pink face. Somehow, pink on a Rolex isn't girly to me. But I think the strap is a little different. It looks like this. I wish I could get it and take a pic.

Gorgeous watches, LLJsmom! I think maybe you need to sell these Rolex watches that you no longer wear to your friends! :naughty: I thought the Rolex with pink dial was beautiful, almost a rose gold color, not really pink. I just thought the rhodium color would go with everything better. However, I would be happy to have the pink, as well!

Beautiful collection, Madam B!!!!!

I looked at your w/g Piaget with Lapis dial. I have a similar one in y/gold with diamonds around the bezel. These always look classy, no matter how old they are.

Being a huge watch fan, I could not help posting mine here. Though not original, they are very practical (sustain anythying from playing with toddler to plant inspections that I happen to do in my work) and fit my slender hands.

It is a 31 mm Datejust with Gold dust face (mother-of-pearl with thin layer of white gold over it) and diamond markers.

I also used to have a classical Omega for the understated days and Movado for the gym, but I hardly wear them any longer.

yes, the pin is placed on the correct hole so every time when you wear the watch you don't need to find the correct hole on the strap, plus it'll prolong the life of the strap. Rolex do offer some models with deployant buckle on strap, so check with your Rolex AD.

I hope you guys don't mind my posting it since technically I think retail value is 1999.00 but that's over 2k with tax! Haha

It's a Ball Watch, the transcendent pearl conductor. Love it!

I have had my watch for a couple of years and still love it. More of a watch wearer's watch than a jewelry house watch .

Those are really exquisite.

When I was looking to spend my bonus and did not buy the Rolex yet, I was so tempted to buy them or one of the JLCs, however they are all more than edge to edge coverage on my wrist. It is a drawback of the current fashion of large watches for me personally :) nevertheless, I absolutely adore seing other people wearing them

Thanks, Diamondseeker2006. I actually ended buying the watch because of the face. Too bad it's discontinued now. I love at in most lightnings it looks just silver and only shows occasional flashes and rainbows once in a while

I'm with you on no diamonds on watch. Ballon Bleu is my dream watch. Midsize model in rose gold.

I'm loving the larger faces on women's watches. Maybe it's the age but they are so much easier to read.

My biggest thing right now besides no diamonds, is the date. I don't know why that is, but I want the date. I found a Seiko Premier and a Raymond Weil, both similar to the BB, and both with a date. I can't pull the trigger on the Raymond Weil bec that price makes me scream, but the Seiko isn't too bad. I do wish at that price it was solar or something.

What is a good entry level "special" watch for a man? By special I mean like heirloom quality, not your average timex or seiko.

Raymond Weil makes quality watches. DH has had his Tango RW for 20 years now with no issues.

The date is an interesting feature. People either don't care or have to have it. My mom and DH won't even consider a watch without a date. I never even set mine on the Santos.
