I don''t have a pic to add from my computer of my ring but it is a Color D princess cute 1.04 in the center and .50 on each side.

Recently my soon to be Aunt in Law *if there is such a thing* she said let me see your ring, so I show her, she flaunts hers which was the same pricess stone 1.K and she immediately pulled hers away claiming it to be ''dirty'' ... she said I havn''t cleaned it in so long... LOL, and I was thinking no silly it''s because yours is a I or a J stone!

Anything D E F really outshines the others!!

Beautiful rings everyone!
I dunno about that, I''ve seen some rather spectacular I J and K stones! There is something fun about having a D, but I would necessarily say it outshines the competition, it''s just an element of the whole. Obviously if you''ve got a D next to a J, you''d probably be able to tell, but I don''t think the lower colors are any less beautiful.

Every diamond has its own personality.
Absolutely right, it is CUT quality which gives a diamond its beauty, doesn''t matter whether the colour grade is O or P, if that diamond is well cut and a D isn''t, guess which is going to be the better looking diamond??

Does it still glow like that in the right lighting now that it''s set? I think I''d be tempted to just cuddle it in my hand like that forever because it would enchant me so...

Thanks, whitby! Yeah, I showed that photo to my fiance and started to gush and he gave me the lifted-eyebrow "what on earth are you on about, woman" look, so yeah, he doesn''t get it.

Anything D E F really outshines the others!!

Maybe yours is a better cut. Lower color does not = lower ''shine''.

Dani that picture is AMAZING! I adore your set.
I don''t think Patchee meant it in any way that any color beyond D E F doesn''t ''shine''. The closer to D the ''icier white'' the diamond and I have seen some amazing diamonds that were I J K that to me didn''t show any warmth but when placed next to my D I could see a tiny bit of warmth. IMHO everything is base on personal likes and dislikes when it comes to their diamonds. I told my FI that I would love an H and VS2 and 1 carat. He got me 2 out of the 3 and got me a D instead because it turned out to be within the budget. Some prefer carat over color and others prefer cut over clarity. To each his own, that''s the beauty of it!
I think that what happened is that the aunt is color sensitive (and doesn''t know it).

I have an F color ring which I think is gorgeous, but I don''t see the difference between it and my H colored earrings unless I really peer and look in the sides, not the top. (Both are ideal cut, AGS 000) It''s not just between H and F that I don''t see a difference, either. I was with a friend once and showed her a J colored diamond, also ideal cut that she wanted to buy from me. She noticed AT ONCE and from a distance too, that the J was yellower than my F colored ring. she still liked the J, but she could see a real difference that I honestly didn''t really see (again, I could see that the J was different only by looking at the bottom and from the sides, and really concentrating on it. It was nothing I''d notice at a glance. the J was unset, also).

How lucky it is to have a D color diamond, especially if you are color sensitive and really see the difference. Ladies, enjoy your rings--I am certainly enjoying looking at them on this thread.

beautiful rocks, ladies! i love icy white stones!

Honey, I really love your e-ring. Its simple and stunning!!! With that gorgeous w-band, the style will always up to date. Gorgeous!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

Lucky your ring is spectacular!

As with everyone elses!!! Beautiful!

Just to clarify I too have seen so many beautiful stones of all color!! But for me, and this is just me ladies - up against someone else H I J or my other rings of the color etc. I can see a shine factor difference. But, the settings and cut alone with any diamond truly makes it''s own mark of personality. I love diamonds!

WOW! Gorgeous rings!!!

After searching forever, I found an old short thread with a few rings: D colored diamonds

Here is my RHR pear (also in my avatar) that I have posted a million times, so please excuse the repeat. I do think all color grades have a beauty of their own, and for me, there is something really amazing about a D. That said, my ering is a G and also a beauty.

Tuckins, Siamese, and Honey, your rings are sooooo icy white! I just love looking at them!

Cindygenit, when I was looking at rings, I wanted either a princess halo or a round halo so my BF at the time decided, why not combine the 2! The good thing too is that Henri Daussi would have made my setting for any kind of diamond my FI would have gotten for me! He's such an awesome FI that he thought to combine the 2 since I wasn't sure exactly which one I would have wanted to be my forever diamond anyways. Now I have the best of both worlds!

Patchee, thanks so much for the kind words! This forum is definitely addicting!!

Sugar,
I love all the rings on this thread too! It's soo cool that we can all see and admire all the different colors in this site!

I wish I had that skill too, but I don''t. It''s my camera, I swear!!! It''s a Canon IXUS 8 megapixel thingy, and it takes incredible digital macro pics, so freakin easy too!

DF bought it for my for my birthday (a few days before we got engaged), cos I wanted one as I knew my ering wasn''t far away and wanted to take great arrow shots, and the darling got me one for my 30th Bday, such a sweetie.

Aww your fiancee is sweet =) He must have done lots of research. Henri Daussi cuts are rarely seen...From memory a guy posted here about an e-ring with a Henri Daussi cut diamond. Was that your fiancee by any chance?

Honey, I''m gonna need to look at getting the same camera as yours! My camera is starting to get up there in age...5 years old to be exact!

Cindygenit, my FI isn''t Dmitri (can''t remember his forum name but his avatar is I believe an actual Daussi cushion diamond) But his FI is definitely one lucky lady!! Also, I don''t have a Daussi cushion. I do have my fave Daussi setting out of his collection! My FI got our diamond from solomonbrothers.com and it shines and sparkles like crazy! Not a Daussi, but I love it none the less!

What a Devine thread!

Love all these rings ladies, gorgeous!

I will add my EC, VS1. Not cut well at all, you could land Air Force One on the table. lol But it is from my moms engagement ring, so it''s very sentimental because my dad picked it out for her.

Hand shot.

hey ellen :)

love your mom''s ring. do you have any specs on it size-wise? i have a girlfriend who is looking for an emerald for a ''hopefully-soon-to-be-upcoming'' engagement, and she really liked your mom''s ring''s proportions. also, could you pls tell me your finger size? we''re trying to work out what would look good on her at the moment.

one last question - how did your mom wear a wedding ring? is there room for a w-ring to slide underneath?

thanks ellen,

Hey whit!

This is not her actual Ering. The stone just came from it. She was having the Plat prongs replaced and the jeweler overheated them and cracked the stone.
40.gif
So it was replaced and I took this one after they had it recut . It is 7.55mm long by 3.86 wide. The ct. weight is .61, but as I said, it's not well cut. Very shallow with enormous (70) table, so she does not really want to pay attention to those parts, just the diameter. All I have on the sidestones is that they are approx. .25 total weight. G color. Ring size is 5.5.

It would not let a band sit flush, that is one of the major conundrums with EC settings.... Moms set (both rings) was curved like an S, with more small EC sidestones, and they fit together. Though I don't remember if it was totally flush, they seperated when I was 6, my memories not anywhere near that good.
25.gif
9.gif

Anyway, hope this helps!

And mook, sorry for the mini threadjack!

thanks so much ellen- got it! useful info re the setting also.

and ditto - sorry mook!
