This whole post is so me! When my husband does this sort of thing unsupervised, it's always a nail-biting experience! And I am totally familiar with practicing the "Wow - that's great, honey!" talk ahead of time! Altho, he works so hard and tries so hard and I love him so much - it's not difficult to bring out the words sincerely when the time comes. He was out in the cold last night, reorganizing the colored lights on our outdoor tree and I just fell in love with him all over again. I know full well that he does this stuff for me - what a lovely, lovely person he is!
I have to say, I think your decorations are just sublime. I'm SO into Christmas, and I do the best I can every year because I just get so much out of it. I think, in you, I've found a kindred spirit!! ..
Thanks for asking. Two of my sisters live near to her; but there are limits on numbers and who can visit. She very well may be alone.
Our tradition every year has been to have turkey dinner at my parents, open presents then to my in-laws for hot pot and to open presents. Later on, my sister and I will go and see a movie. It's the one time during the year that I will go to the theaters. This year will be different. We're currently on our second lockdown and Christmas should only be spent with those in our own household.
I normally put our tree up on the 1st of December but since 2020 has been such a huge suckfest, I decided to put it up a month early...
Happy St.Nicholas' day!
We've each put one shoe outside and St Nicholas came by during the night, filling the shoes with treats.... If you were good.
Tradition talks also about a burch rid for
bad kids received by Krampus.
Or coal (depends where exactly in the German speaking world one is).
I've personally never seen or heard of any child who received that. Adults however are fair game
Holidays 2020 at the beach and Oliver and Gracie's first tree.
We cannot decorate the tree because the cats destroy them but the lights are OK.
As my dear friend @rainwood calls it- this is called a winter tree (just lights and no decorations). And we can leave our winter tree up as long as we want.
Tommy under the tree very early this AM.
Gracie climbing the tree last night. The little minx.
Tommy climbing the tree but this is his usual MO. Gracie is displacing his Christmas tree position though :/
What about Oliver you ask?
Oliver and the tree. As close as he is getting.
Well OK let's get a closer look shall we?
Hmm what is this thing? Why are my siblings in it?
Bobby near tree and Oliver looking on...
Oliver is feeling braver
Bobby and Tommy
Happy holidays all.
@missy I love your tree with your living ornaments! They’re adorable! ❤
May I share my DH’s original stocking from childhood?
We have all the original ornaments and decorations from his childhood. Everything. When the cats started breaking the glass ornaments we stored everything away in our attic for now.
His aunt made this ornament over 60 years ago
We have some beautiful old ornaments. I want to go through them when I have the energy.
@mrs-b I was washing my gnome cups this morning and thought you would like these since you are a fellow gnome lover!
Some wooden ones from Sweden..
