Should I add side stones to my diamond?

Hi everyone!

We are thinking about wedding bands, and before deciding, we wanted to explore whether we might like to reset and add stones to the side of the center diamond.

I've attached a photo of my ring as-is, and also a photo of it next to two different wedding bands (eternity and channel), plus next to tapered baguettes being held up to the side.

Do you have a favorite look?

If we add tapered baguettes to the original stone, then I am thinking of doing a slimmer pave wedding band that uses the stones from the original setting.

I think it's personal preference. I like side stones, but many love solitaires. Have you tried on a setting with similar sized baguettes with a stone roughly the same mm as yours? I ask because it looks like you have pretty good coverage as is, so it may or may not be comfortable with side stones of that size.

Thanks so much for your advice! I actually did try on a ring of similar size with side stones, though the center stone is a different shape; this is what it looked like:

I think it would be pretty. Does it feel too wide on your hand? I love settings with tapered baguettes personally. They are very classic.

I actually prefer your existing ring with the pave. I'd probably be inclined to get a pave band matching the width of your e-ring (or two, so you can stack them).

I second that! Your ring is so pretty. I don't care for the bands you paired with it... too overpowering and I think it just "kills" the look. While I love baguettes as side stones, I don't think that is going to feel "significant" enough for you as is, I think you will still want something to add to it. It's not like when you make a 3-stone of all princess cuts which creates more of a "banded" feel.
I love your e-ring and I agree with cmd2014 that you should get a band that matches the band of your e-ring mounting. If they don't fit flush and you want flush you can have a band made to fit flush. Obviously you can wear the free-standing ring on its own whereas one made to fit that has a notch to go around the diamond setting cannot be worn independently. In your ring's situation, I personally would prefer bands that fit flush. To me its just cleaner and looks like there was thought put to it. Also, I would suggest you have the band (even if "free-standing") that is an exact match to your e-ring shank. Again, just my opinion.
