no idea. I hope SB sees this, as they are "selling' her diamond on that site :o :o

Are they scammers?

Dec 31, 2013 - second-chance-diamonds.com was registered on 12/30/2013. It's main IP address is 173.201.70.159.

The website's been up just a few weeks. Just a guess, but... I suspect their business model is to lure people in with ridiculously low prices for merchandise they don't even own, get their money, and then scram.

I just sent SB an email to look at it. I think you are correct it is ALL P/S members photos and items.

Herman - I'm just curious as to how you stumbled upon the site. I mean - how do sites like this get traffic to begin with?

OH HELL NO!!!!!!!!! To say I'm pissed is an under statement!! That is NOT ok. I emailed the website and told them they better delete it. Anyone know of any other options.

Thank you Niel and Arkieb1 for bringing this to my attention.

actually, it's probably best not to contact them directly but to contact law enforcement instead...

Found the reference to this site while shopping on another website.

Sorry but this is new to me, have any idea exactly who I should contact?

I hope 1) they get shut down but good, and 2) nobody loses any money to them before that happens. However, the site shows several sales pending - not a good sign, unless they just put that up to create a sense of urgency in any browsers.

SB -https://www.azag.gov/complaints/consumer - seems to be the best option, although the default assumption seems to be that you've actually been defrauded (as in lost money).

Another option that's more applicable to you, since it also covers "third parties": http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
(Internet Consumer Complaint Center - The IC3 was established as a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C) to serve as a means to receive Internet related criminal complaints and to further research, develop, and refer the criminal complaints to federal, state, local, or international law enforcement and/or regulatory agencies for any investigation they deem to be appropriate. The IC3 was intended, and continues to emphasize, serving the broader law enforcement community to include federal, as well as state, local, and international agencies, which are combating Internet crime and, in many cases, participating in Cyber Crime Task Forces.)

I googled "who to report internet fraud" an an FBI page came up with a form to submit. But they said "not all get processed" so who knows.

Thanks VRB!! I actually called my lawyer that is how pissed I am! He told me to fill out the same form with the link and submit asap. Thank you for including the IP address as that was a great piece of info to add. I plan on contacting BBB as well though I doubt they can do much.

Apparently I have a 3ct E IF ring. Man, a goldmine!! *sigh*

I hope nobody has lost any money on this yet. I see that one is on hold. Sad.

So - they're finding the pictures here, and then finding a GIA report for a diamond of the same weight but higher color and/or clarity ratings... and then pricing their bogus listing so low that people are tempted to buy first and ask questions later...

:nono:

You can buy mine and I'll buy yours!!!!! :naughty:

Thank you for putting things into perspective Athena. I see why you choose the goddess of wisdom.

Ahhhh Athenaworth I KNEW that one looked so familiar!

I wonder if the issue with google image search not being able to find some isn't cropping but it's that the pics are included to the posts as attachments rather than inline? Because Athena's pics are attached to her post whereas the others I found were inserted in them.

I always get so livid when I see people stealing pictures to scam people. Ugh.

Not always the same weight, even! With the cushion halo, around four carats off!

Nice! I'm down for that!!

I had an awful experience on The Knot 10+ years ago where someone created a fake account and pretended to be a really vile vile person. i was only aware of it because someone posted about how horrible "she" was. Bitch used all of my pictures. I had to get a pretty thick skin after that because The Knot folks were not very nice about it.

Distracts thank you for all the detective work! You are fantastic and tracking everything down!

I hear ya Athena. This is a good reminder that though PS feels (at times) a close knit community it is actually open to the public and anyone can access pictures.

I'm on some other sites where you have to be logged in to see the pics. I wish this was set up the same way.

Oh my, somebody has something on hold, I hope they don't get it.

Well it looks like they got my email as I don't see my ring listed anymore this morning.
