i can only find out about her visit in the awful exspress so its all about the cost of HRH's clothe and not her jerlery or much at all about the purpose of her visit which is a great disserviced to the Countesse'ss work and the causes she champions

She’s standing next to prinses Mabel.

UK Peeps ?
what does 1st stand for ?
what does it cost to send a regular letter within the mainland UK ?

a NZ stamp from 1938 with no crown on the King
1938-georgev1-1.2dgreen-600px.png

i have no idea how much or how to say 1 /2d ? because we went decimel in 1968 3 years before i was born
...and i dont collect stamps :lol-2:
but i rememeber this one
back when my grandma was still alive so a long time ago now

nz-sg1094a-10c-queen-elizabeth-ii-perf-14-x14-1233-p.jpg

do you think the Queen looks like her sister here ?
HM looks young
but look how young she was back in 1954
1953-elizabeth11-1d.png

again i dont know what a d is money wise
?
saddly no NZ stamps for HM's platnum jublilee which i find perplexing because NZ post seem to issue new stamps 45 times a year to fleece the collector

a note to my dear Sophie
clay bird shooting looks tonns of fun
but when i was actually in the army females were allowed to wear plain gold or silver studs
my logistics regiment had a dark blue berrett and a dark blue core belt so us girls used to wear blue studs and get away with it

Diana was painted by Douglas Anderson in the gown. The portrait today hangs in London's Royal Marsden Hospital, which she often visited, supported and served as President for.

diana-dress.jpg

who has the amathysts now ?

This isn't a very good likeness. The nose is all wrong and the eye placement is off. Sorry to digress...

I reminded myself last night that I want to have it! I hope it will take less than 4-5 months to ship here.
I'm sure it will be an interesting read!

1st means first class postage @Daisys and Diamonds. There’s also 2nd class. In the old days, 1st class meant delivery the next day, and 2nd would take a couple of days.

Nowadays, you’re lucky if it arrives whenever

(I haven’t forgotten about digging out my leopard brooch, I must get round to it :eek-2:)

here i was thinking it was how wrote a shilling or something :lol-2:
i guess that would have made expensive postage back in that day
we have this thing called fastpost
its basically internal airmail
it was next day delivery
i rememebr a few years ago the post was so efficant the powers at be told them to slow down because regular post was arriving the same as the more exspensive fast post
how times have changed :angryfire:
