Awww, Fred melts my heart. There's just something about him.
Missy, could you put Oliver in a carrier then bring the carrier into the room where all other cats are. Then Interact with the other cats while Ollie watches. Then bring him back into your bedroom. Do that a couple times a day before letting him out “off cage” with them. ?

With health issues T had from stress when I introduced Hugo, they were apart until Hugo was about 8 or 9 months old. Then I had to verrry slowly introduce them because Hugo was SO THRILLED to have a cat playmate he was playing with/attacking T whenever I tried to have them together. I had to exercise him on my own to tucker him out and then put them together. It took about two months before I could let them alone. So at least to me the trouble you are having introducing Oliver does not seem unusual. Sometimes people are able to plop young cats into an established household with no problem and other times it takes a longer time. But I wouldn’t worry yet.

@missy I think that’s a great idea about the playpen and the carrier. It may be Oliver is asserting dominance as little as he is..He’s trying to find his order in the pack...The other kitties are being submissive..so they are under him in the order of the pack...By putting him in a carrier or in the playpen they would be dominant over him.. When Bailey was a baby I was told by the vet to sit next to him and eat in front of him first. He had to wait until I was finished. Then I would feed him. It was showing him that I was Alpha. I have no idea if it works that way with cats. Maybe you can let him out but if he scratches he goes immediately back in the carrier or playpen. These may be silly ideas but just brainstorming here..
Missy, oh girl you are brave getting a harness !
Borris is a gentle girl who never lifts a claw in anger but I'd never risk my skin getting a harness on her
i hope young Master Ollie is ok with it
but if its best for Tommy then little Ollie will have to suck it up,
its a releaf he's good with Fred
Missy - are we at 4 weeks yet? I am seriously holding my breath. We must be within a day or two, yes? Holding you all in my prayers.
And Oliver - seriously - get your shit together, man. For what it's worth, Missy - we see this in dog rescue all the time - dogs join a pack and are pushy-shovey - they take a while to find their place and throw their weight around in the meantime. They normally settle down if given clear guidelines by their owners as to behavior. Takes a little while tho.
Sending you all hugs. How do you feel about going back to NYC?
Update: Greg called the vet office and today we are officially RW free! Woohoo! I won't lie- I am still not feeling completely relieved and still feeling somewhat anxious but I hope it is true and they are and will remain RW free. Thank you to everyone here. I truly appreciate your generous support over all these months.
