Hi Everyone! I found this forum while looking into options for re-cutting one of my stones to improve the cut quality and light performance. I read through a couple threads and it sounds like people have had experience with re-cutting round brilliant stones. However, my stone is a cushion modified brilliant. Does anyone know of vendors who can recut a cushion to make it a better cushion? Has anyone had experience with non-round re-cuts that they can share? Thanks so much in advance :)

Any stone of any shape can be considered for a tweak or full recut. The trick will be to find the cutter and make sure that what you gain (performance) does not outweigh what you might lose (value due to lost weight). I'd start with Brian Gavin and if he does not work with cushions, see if he can recommend someone.

southwest diamond cutters in Dallas tx has been recommended a few times, I have been to their location and the staff was very nice in helping in but I did not go through with the recut

do you have the GIA report number?
What are the carat weight, depth and table %?

I contacted Brian Gavin and he can recut cushions! I think I will go with him because it sounds like people on the forum have had very positive experiences with him. Thanks for the help!

It sounds promising! People do have pleasant experience with BGD, however recutting a cushion still looks like a rare case. How big is your cushion, did BGD discuss with you whether it will remain a modified brilliant or another type of cushion?

My stone is a little under 2ct. I did ask if the stone will remain a cushion shape and they said yes, perhaps I should confirm if it will stay as a modified brilliant. Thanks so much for the insight!
