Hi Guys,

First post here. Just wondering if anyone can give me some input on this diamond i bought:

https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamo...-Carat-I-Color-VVS1-Clarity-Diamond-127489791

HCA score - 0.9 ( Apparently HCA's under 1 can be an issue?)

Diamond screener cut estimator show it sitting right on the edge of GIA Excellent/AGS 0

ASET in the link i sent shows abit of whiteish pink under the table (Could this effect light return?)

Apparently med blue fluorescence compliments lower color grades so im fine with this

I know VVS1 is way too much overkill and i prob should have raised color and dropped clarity a fair bit but I was comfortable seeing other I color diamonds face up in person aslong as they were eyeclean (which becomes harder at 2ct+)

Appreciate any feedback.

Cheers

I would avoid this one. If you were going for a 60/60 style stone, the proportions aren't ideal. Most people tend to prefer stones in the ideal cut parameters often posted here (rather than 60/60 style). Have you seen both types in person?

And yes, the whitish parts of the ASET are leakage.

What is your budget and preferred parameters?

Thanks Lovedogs! It sits in the ideal range here https://agslab.com/docs/pbcg/AGSLProportionCharts.pdf

budget is 20k usd. Looking for a round ideal cut 2-2.2 G,H,I that is eyeclean (VS2+?)

Cheers

This is a nice stone. Slightly out of the “preferred range”, nonetheless, the crown angle is not shallow and it pairs well with the pavilion angle. The stone has a nice spread for its size. I don’t see an issue with it.

What is the price? Are upgrade options in the future important?

Thanks Simone! I was stressing that i picked the wrong one for a second haha

I bought it from enchanted diamonds which is based in NY so had to pay sales tax:

Subtotal: $18,440
Sales Tax: $1,637
Total: $20,839

The owner gave me the option to swap it for another diamond if I wasnt 100% happy so just seeking validation here. Upgrading wont be feasible for me as im from Australia

Hi there,
Just because it falls there on the chart doesn't mean it will have ideal light performance. Since you have the ASET, you know that this stone doesn't perform in the way we would prefer (e.g. not what we on PS would consider "ideal").

I know this one isn't quite 2ct, but it's great and under your budget:
https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3980389.htm

This one is $200 above budget and J in color, but CBIs face up whiter than other diamonds because of the ideal cut:
https://www.hpdiamonds.com/en-us/diamonddetail/HPD8574

I'll look for others in a bit!

Thanks for this lovedogs.

Can you comment specifically about the ASET? Just trying to better understand how to read it past the basic colour queues

IMHO, I think there are better stones within your budget and preferred specs. But certainly @SimoneDi has been on these boards longer than I have, so I would take her opinion over mine! I just see the pink/white circle around the table and think it looks like light leakage, so I worry about performance. This stone on enchanted has what I would consider a better ASET:

https://enchanteddiamonds.com/diamonds/view/R217-14Z420691?utm_source=rarecarat&utm_medium=cpc

but it's also more expensive, so just something to consider!

Ok cool thanks for that! Think i will stick to the original one i posted.

As ASETS can apparently vary wildly based on how the picture was taken (Black background on the one you posted lovedogs compared to the white background on the original i posted)

Hi from another Aussie on PS. :wavey:

Nice clean plot (as expected for a VVS1).

It is a 60/60 style, so it will exhibit some differences light performance wise to what most of us on PS would prefer. Nothing wrong with it, but just be aware of that.

Angle combo is what one should expect if one goes for a shallower crown.

Having said the above, I still prefer the Whiteflash and CBI stones that @lovedogs mentioned above.

Cheers guys. I suppose once the rock is delivered to Enchanted diamonds I’ll setup a Skype call

Come back with pics for us, and congrats! Sorry if I was overly critical earlier, there's nothing wrong w the stone you got, I just wanted to put out other choices and give a heads up about the 60/60 style. :geek2:

Will do! After some more reading i dont think the 60/60 will be an issue for me as the crown angle is not shallow and it pairs well with the pavilion angle ( Thanks SimoneDi!) which should alleviate the common "problems" with 60/60 style cut, namely fire.

Hmmm. That one has a cut score of 100%, but the hearts look like this:

25390F3E-8130-4505-BF1B-53652DFE7069.jpeg

Just goes to show each stone needs to be examined, no matter what the vendor site says

Whenever I see a Enchanted Diamonds cut score of 100, I immediately look at the hearts image. If it looks like that, it’s out of contention if one is truly looking for a H&A stone.

A good or bad hearts image tells us so much. I suspect other images would show us other items in the stone that would cause us to reject it but I will reserve those comments for when/if the additional images surface.
