I am not a diamond grader so I have no precise answer.
But,,I have a feeling that...
1: what I think the grade should be.
2: what the grade should be in a sane world
3: what the grade actually is
Are 3 different things.

Hahaha!! I had that feeling as well!

I voted vs2 for 2 reasons. First I figured if it would be straight forward you wouldn't ask us to guess.
Second, when I looked at vs2 in Tiffany's under the microscope, I was pretty shocked at what they let pass for that clarity grade.
But, I'm curious to hear the answer

my money is on I1

Come on Stone hunter - what about other labs!

You are trying to be too clever - if there is a trick that is not it.
As Dave Atlas posted - GIA have a system and it is nuanced. But they are remarkably consistent.

I think somewhere between SI2 and I1. If I HAD to choose I would say SI2 only because the very first diamond I had was a GIA I1 that was wayyyy More included than this. Meaning it had a very similar inclusion at the top in addition to 3 or 4 Very visible black spots (and in this size render the entire thing was flecked)

However, cant actually see the depth from the picture so if the inclusion is deep enough then I1 is my guess.

I'm no diamond grader, but I gave a shot at it. (I'd also like to take this time to note that my expertise is pearls, not diamonds. There, now I've done CMA)

GIA - I1
EGL -SI1
IGI - SI2
HRD - I1

Now, when I'm completely wrong everybody can come back and make fun of me. :D

OK, twist my arm.
GIA: SI2
EGL: SI1
IGI: SI1
AGS: I1
HRD: SI2

I don't know squat, pure speculation on my part!

Remember that it's not possible to accurately grade clarity from a photo- and in real life, we'd be examining BOTH sides of the stone.
Based on the pic, if there's nothing else we can't see, it looks to be borderline SI2-I1.
The fact Garry's using is as a test case leads me to believe there's something wrong with the grade......

Ok so to clarify, my first choice is GIA SI1 with going back and forth over GIA VS2.

Yes, it is a test David, but not obvious enough or close to any of the guesses so just answer as you see it - and what would you expect from the other labs David?
Does this help?

Does this help?

What the heck, sure I'll play!!
AGS would give it SI2- which happens frequently with stones given I1 by GIA, and subsequently submitted to AGS ( saw a 5.00ct like this the other day)
EGL? That's a hard one- it really depends on which EGL
I'll say SI1

IGI...generally closer to GIA lately, so SI2
HRD, SI1

But every lab makes mistakes...I'm sure many others are like me- on the edge of our seats!

PS- If I'm the buyer- I 10000% call the stone I1 till I see a GIA report. And if the GIA report says SI2 ( or some other wacky thing) I still consider the stone as an I1 in terms of pricing.

Just one day to go - you can change your vote or have another :)
Close enough to the end that I can now post my thoughts.
I may be overthinking this a little but Garry likes to post things that are not what they appear at first glance.
Combine that with GIA having a bunch of rules that automatically make a stone a si2 im saying:

GIA si2

What I would grade it and call a fair grade: i1

egl international vs2

igi si1

hrd i1 - at one time hrd was considered a bit harsher than gia in this clarity range but who knows what they are today.

Of the diamond grading labs, I really am mostly familiar with GIA. I'm going to call it an GIA SI1.
