Please show me bezeled french ring

I’m considering a 10 year wedding anniversary ring and would greatly appreciate some help! I’ve been cruising on Pricescope and fell in love with many rings but haven't found the perfect match to what I am imagining.

Does anyone have an example of a French cut diamond, bezeled set in gold or rose gold, with the stone facing east to west? Also possibly with milgrain detail around the bezel as well? I really love the look of the single stone eternity bands (Julia band) and was really just taking an idea from it.

I attached some pictures showing an example of the milgrain detail that I think is interesting. However, I would love for the band to be thinner as can be seen in the other picture. Apologies for not giving photo cred as I found these beautiful images on pinterest. Does anyone know how thin a band can be made if there are no diamonds on it? I've been told by one company that 1.8 mm is the smallest they feel comfortable making it.

I would greatly appreciate any assistance or ideas on whom to purchase from or whether this would need to be a custom ring. Thanks in advance, fellow ring lovers!

I'm not sure what you mean by a French cut diamond, since Frenchies are usually smaller and used as accent stones rather than center stones. If you have a large French cut stone, we'd love to see it! Please post pics!

Anyhow, I'm assuming you have a square-cut stone in mind? If so, you might want to check out some of threads on princess-cut stones to see various settings and configurations for square-cut stones.

Here's 31 pages of bezel-set stones for you to explore - there might be a princess or two in there:

A semi-bezel kite-set princess (Sholdt setting, about halfway down the thread):

It doesn't have a french-cut, but here's a setting with a small step-cut emerald set east-west in a milgrained bezel, and though two small rounds are next to it, you can just see the shank is plain and very slim...

PierreBear -

This ring is still in production, but you'll get the general idea from the photos I've been sent.

Here's my E/W set emerald cut with pear sides. I am still umming and ahhing on whether to milgrain or not. So far, not sure.

Hope these help - and good luck with your new project; it sounds terrific!

Wow, thank you so much for helping me understand the basics. I have so much to learn and assumed a French cut diamond would automatically be a rectangular shape by looking at the Singlestone bands. Below is a picture as an example of where I imagined just taking one instance of the diamond (slightly larger though) without the eternity part. Is it rare to find a French cut diamond that is in an emerald shape? I think emerald stones are beautiful but I do appreciate more of the shine/fire that might come off of a French cut diamond. I haven’t seen one yet in person but that’s the impression I get from looking at pictures online but could be wrong.

VRbeautify – Yes you are right that I do usually see French cut diamonds as accent stones. Is it because it is more expensive of a cut? I assumed that the price in diamonds are generally driven by the size of the stone.
MaryMM – Thank you for sharing that visual. I’m essentially looking to achieve that type of beautiful ring but without the round stones on the side.
Thecat – Thank you for sharing Circe’s French center. It is beautiful and yes, I would hopefully like to obtain that same center (but much smaller due to budget constraints haha!) and turned 90 degrees where it faces east to west.
Mrs Blop – Wow beautiful ring and thank you for sharing. The pear sides are an interesting touch! What are your thoughts on whether to milgrain or not? I feel that milgrain gives it an antique look but might take away from the sleekness? Both are beautiful and I can imagine having a hard time deciding if I ever get to the stage of seeing something actually on my finger and not just in my mind. : )
JDDN – Thanks for sharing the link to show an example of a larger French cut. Leon’s work is truly amazing.

If you are still looking for the center stone and you're open to buying pre-loved, it is possible there is an antique french-cut diamond slightly over a half-carat for sale on LoupeTroop and Diamondbistro -- there are PriceScope rules prohibiting self-promotion of items for sale so I cannot provide direct links, but if you search for the term "antique french-cut" on either of those sites, the listing should pop up.

I think PS rules do permit me to link the original vendor's listing (http://www.jewelsbygrace.com/loose-diamonds/54ct-antique-french-cut-diamond-gia-g-vs2) and SmugMug webpage for the item (https://jewelsbygrace.smugmug.com/Loose-Diamonds/1ct-and-Under-loose-diamonds/54ct-Antique-French-Cut/)

Regardless, I do look forward to hearing about your progress on this ring design!

I believe I'm starting to sort through the ideas a bit better. Apologies for being so new but perhaps this will help others to spell it out who are also trying to learn the lingo. I was getting the cut confused with the shape of the diamond. If I'm putting all the pieces together, I enjoy a rectangular diamond. However, I prefer it in the cut that is not in the emerald format as I like some of that more glistening/fire appeal that seems to come from a French cut and Antique cut (are those the same?!). Just to understand, does a French cut seem to come more rectangular?

Marymm - Thank you for pointing me to the vendor listing. Jewels by grace has such wonderful rings and I am considering starting a project with her if this ring has to be custom made.

Anyone have experience with her custom bezeled rings? Thanks again everyone for helping me make this daunting project as easy as possible. This is really a great forum with supportive people.

This one is set in a bezel with a halo of rounds surrounding it:

It's set north-south though but it's the closest I've seen to a larger French cut in a bezel setting.
Here's a link to the eBay listing with more photos:

French cuts are usually square or rectangular. Do a search in the PS Search bar for "french cuts" and you will find lots of examples. Here's a few links you may find helpful.
