Hoping those lucky owners of cushions with 4 main pavillions can post some photos? I have seen many lovely cushions on PS with the 8 main pavillions and would like to see the difference amongst the two.
The plot on the GIA certificate should look like this:
Here is a closeup of my 1.51 cushion brilliant with a 4 main pavillion. I hope this picture doesn''t turn out too big or grainy since this is my very first post. My BF and I are working with Mark at ERD to put this lovely stone in a custom designed setting that he is also making for us. It will take 3-4 weeks to complete but I will make sure to post pics as soon as we get the complete package and after my sweetie proposes of course
thanks for the photo! Your stone is stunning!!! Yay for you
and (a little) for me
''cause we might be cushion twins. My bf also bought a 1.51 carat cushion brilliant with 4 main pavillions from Mark T but I don''t have a photo and he won''t let me see it
until he''s ready to propose.
I''ve been doing some reading on cushions here on PS and was curious what the difference was, visually, between the 4 main and the 8 main plots.
I''m looking forward to seeing your stone in it''s setting. Do you mind me asking which one you picked?
All of the cushions that Mark showed me were 4 main pavilions so I didn''t get a chance to visually compare but I''m sure the 8 pavilions are beautiful as well. In terms of the setting, I''m having it customized to look like this Jack Kelege setting, but with some modifications of course. The picture shows a round diamond with the setting but I think it will look lovely with a cushion because of that cushion-shaped halo. Anyways, let me know what you think about it. What setting did you choose or is your bf keeping this a secret too? Please post pics if you can!
Oooooh, I love the setting you chose! I agree, it will look amazing with the cushion centre stone. Can''t wait to see it! (Sigh) I love halos...
I was wanting a setting like yours for the longest time but when it came time to try some on, I felt the solitaire looked better on me so I went with this setting ''cause I still wanted bling!
I have no idea what it looks like with the cushion because I haven''t seen it and bf pretends he doesn''t know what I''m talking about when I ask him!
Anyways, yours should be ready in 3-4 weeks? That''s pretty good turn-around time; just in time for a mid-spring proposal!
With regards to the 4 main pavs vs. 8 main, I''m thinking, from looking at photos, that while the 4 main has chunky facets, the 8 main seems to have more so giving it more of an antique look. If I got this wrong, hopefully someone will correct me.
