Hello PS community,

New here and looking for assistance please. I am looking for an e-ring diamond, and after a lot of research, I would like to purchase an AVR from GOG! My budget is approximately $16,000 (for some reason it keeps getting bigger :o ). For the size I would like, I want to stay with an I color (really don't want J because I am a bit color sensitive) and SI1 clarity; hopefully I could get a 1.8 'ish carat. Basically, I am requesting feedback from PS veterans with knowledge about AVR's to help me better understand what to look for and what to consider. Here are some questions I have:

What is the difference between the old style and new style of AVR's?

What determines a "good" facet structure in AVR's?

What minimum width / length would be considered the "sweat spot" to really see the beautiful facet structure?

What should I look for in the ASET and other types of imaging pics?

Because I am budget conscious, what type of inclusions should I avoid and/or prefer?

If I am requesting GOG to cut a AVR for me, what dimensions would be ideal?

Any other useful information pertaining to AVR's that I should know (e.g., don't they tend to face up a bit smaller than MRB?)?

Thank you so much for your help, and I greatly appreciate the information in previous discussions on AVR's! As a side note, I do not know what specific setting I will be using, but my gf does want rose gold, thin band, solitaire setting, ring size 5.25. Thanks again!

With those specs it might be more a matter of what you can get. Currently GOG has nothing near a 1.80 carat AVR that is an I colour. They are all either lower colours or the higher colour ones are more expensive - these are the closest they have unless you want to go for a lower coloured one;

1.53 K SI1;

1.49 G VS2;

1.49 E SI1 if you like a squarer shaped one;

This is nice;

1.510 G VS1;

1.37 I SI1 if you liked a squarer shape;

This one is nice but it is an L colour;

There is this one 1.73 in budget but it is a K SI2 and I think the white inclusion you can see on the top would bug me;

Otherwise email both of them and ask if they are getting any more, Victor is currently cutting stones and GOG gets new ones in from time to time.

I think he was looking at AVRs, not AVCs...

So are you looking for a round or a cushion? I'm confused.

Hi sorry yes I re-read you want an AVR not an AVC, I have no idea why the first time I read this I thought you were after a cushion, I had been talking to another member about AVCs just before I posted above & I have them on the brain..... Anyway, once again sorry my bad. There are limited to no stones with the specs you are after in the price range you seek.

Is this the stone you are looking at;

Or;

Ask if both stones above are 100% eyeclean, or doesn't it bother you?

Or if you want something definitely eyeclean;

Or

Still worth emailing both vendors, Victor is cutting more new items and GOG regularly gets new stones in as well.

You definitely cannot go wrong with an AVR but they only have one in stock now in your budget that is an I color. Here's an OEC from ERD...a little over budget but nice and large:

Maybe Jonathan has something else coming in or can recut another round stone into an AVR in your budget for you. Might be your best option as AVR's are so rare, especially in the higher colors.

Good luck in your search...AVR's are my very favorite.

Thank you all for the responses,

Arkieb - no worries about the AVC's, thank you for the recommended AVR's /OEC's. I have been looking at both those stones at GOG. (I think I might have them cut me a stone with my specs)

Mom2boys - Those posts are very helpful, thank you. Yes, I need to speak with DS for advice about picking AVR's!!! Her stone is exactly what I want, just a bit smaller, lol.

Ariel - thank you for recommending me that OEC, but I really want to stay with GOG because of the light performance. The hunt continues.

Sorry for the confusion, I'm looking for a round not a cushion.
