Well really any ring. The "is this too big thread" got me thinking about how much perspective matters with finger size.

Finger coverage really varies so much depending on the wearer. I have fallen into the trap of oh that looks great only to realize the model was a 4 or 5 and on my 7+ (8 for some) hand the rings looks dinky.

Makes me think of Chris Farley fat man in a little jacket.

It is a great help when I see threads with finger size and mms, so let's share.

Not set but 15 x 10.7 on my 7 sized paw.

I'll have to post more later, my phone is acting up

My 1.19ct EC in an air gap halo on my right hand middle finger which is a size 10.5 US, shown here with my 1.94ct MRB bangle.

I love halos especially air gap ones as they provide great finger coverage.

I'm a size 7.5 and think this is the ideal measurements lol if only I could get a diamond with this level of coverage (which I've roughly estimated at ~8ct) hehehe

Oh this is a great thread!

My finger is a size 8 with an unfortunate bit of pudge even with rings that fit properly:roll2:

Please ignore the dog hair in the spinel picture, didn’t notice it before I posted:doh:

The Diamond Database website allows you to compare two diamond sizes on fingers adjustable to your ring size, skin color, and finger length. DW found it to be very useful.

LINK

I must warn you that every time DW went back to this site, the size of the diamond she felt comfortable wearing increased! :eek-2:

@CSpan, this is why I much prefer cluster type rings vs a solitaire, you get more coverage and usually they are easier on the wallet ;)2

Here is another example, you could find a cluster of smaller diamonds to make a bigger impact:

I don't have a ton of solitaire style settings, because those aren't my preference.

But I do have these two.

Old mine, 7.08 x 6.74, 1.4 ct

Likewise, the same reason why I like halos and wider bands as they provide great finger coverage.

Solitaire with a thin band does not suit me. Here is my 1.19ct EC in its original solitaire setting, and the band at the top is not exactly thin; next to the new setting.

I normally wore a 2mm Titanium band with the old ring, to minimise the effect of muffin tops as posted in thread by @House Cat.

This is so helpful! Thank you @YadaYadaYada @elizat @mrs-b @foxinsox @dk168

And I love that I am learning everyone who wears my size, ya know in case something were to show up pre-loved.

I think the moral of the story is I need much bigger rings. Won't my husband be thrilled ?

@CSpan - since losing weight, my finger size is down from a generous 8 (maybe 8.25) down to an easy 6.5. I'm still losing and am guessing I'll end up at a 6. I think my DH is more excited about it than me, for *exactly* the reason you mentioned - tho in reverse. Every time I come into his office, stick out my hand, and say something like "Look how much extra finger coverage I get now from this same ring!" - I swear, the man breathes an audible sigh of relief!

I posted these pictures the other day too, here is my 3.85ct diamond and my 1ct (my grndmother’s ring I inherited) on my size 8 fingers:
12C7E4B3-D150-4A86-879B-527427879855.jpeg B58D8899-109F-4F6E-B39F-AFF49D85C524.jpeg
That does not look like a 1 ct at all! Fabulous proportions.

I dont remember the mm in size but its around a 1.25 center with 0.47 in the sides...size 7.5 5A5CACAC-A24E-4EAB-BFF6-E29F19E26BB7.jpeg
Those sides!

Amazing what a difference a setting can make!

I should have probably left out the word solitaire, any perspective is really awesome. Thanks all for contributing

Here is my thread about my 1.23 CBI solitaire — size 7.5. I have since turned it into an anniversary three-stone, but I loved this solitaire!

Well, I greatly appreciate that, @mrs-b ! I have worn it every day since it arrived. I’m still thrilled with it!

Here is a .44 ct on a size 8 finger. I have long fingers and wide hands. Any diamond big enough to cover my fingers is way, way out of my price range.

This is absolutely gorgeous, and a perfect example of why diamonds are so awesome - they don't have to be huge to be beautiful!
