Busy weekend. But we opted out of our annual Lilac festival as the weather is threatening rain and maybe a TS. And some of our cycling paths to get to the festival are closed???? I am bummed BC it is fun and I love the variety of food offerings and stuff to buy. Anyway.

Big winds and pounding rain late last night. Lots of branches and leaf debris on the roads today. I can handle the rain, but hate the big winds as they are dangerous. The day was very warm, 32C, so not surprised of the stormy weather late in the evening.

Making stuffed baked potatoes with the roast beef Sunday supper.

Yesterday was also the Pride parade and we caught the beginning of it because it started on the ice cream block

Weather here has been lovely, we’ve spent a lot of time in the pool. We’ve also been busy sorting through all of Colin’s clothes - 6 brand new pairs of trouser he’s never going to get in to again , shorts all sorts of other things off to the charity shop.

Glad you’ve been able to get out and ride @missy, make hay while the sun shines Lovely to see the kitties all looking so well.

Sorry the weather has been uncooperative @canuk-gal, I hope you had a good weekend despite it, and ha d a chance to wind down after a busy work week.

I’m really impressed with my window vac, I’m working my way around the house - certainly beats having to stand on a ladder to clean all these big windows.

Hi NIRID’s!

@Austina your window vac sounds wonderful. I should look in to one of those. We’re having lots of thunderstorms here. When I shut the shades, it was so foggy I couldn’t see the observatory. The flagpole was still standing though. We went out for dinner Saturday for my birthday. I picked a quiet little Italian restaurant. My birthday present was my laptop that I’ve had for a few weeks. I hope you have more nice weather than too hot. I am glad Colin got his crown. My dentist called me today after getting with my periodontist. They aren’t recommending I get my broken tooth lengthened. I guess it’d result in about 50% of the bone loss there and if it doesn’t work that would leave too little bone for an implant. Right now, this fake tooth is okay so I told him I’d think about it and I have a cleaning with them in August.

@missy I hope you have more summer days than rainy days. It’s been rainy and windy here. I hate to hear about your US results. Ugh to people who can’t civility discuss politics these days and even worse to “haters”. I am glad people who live near you are so friendly. Woo hoo to a 70 mile ride. My dad used to keep mileage on all of his snow machine trips. We figured out he easily drove enough miles to reach the moon. I am glad you got your water heater replaced right away.

@canuk-gal darn you missed the lilac festival. I need to get to our Botanic Gardens and enjoy some pretty flowers. Stay safe riding in that wind. Your dinner sounds delicious. Darn the flower boxes were gone, but I glad you found some nice ones. I’ve been toying with getting just one so I have some flowers, but the wind and critters would probably destroy it. I hope your lower back is better. Winter is gone - I think - but we’re getting lots of thunderstorms too. I did get one clear night though.

We had a busy weekend. I ended up doing quite a bit of work, some stuff around the house and we had a quiet movie night.

@Austina sweet for spending time in the pool..when we were youngsters that is how we spent our summer days and nights. In our pool and it was lovely. My parents always threw me a pool party for my birthday and we had a casino set up inside so we would go back and forth and it was always a huge hit. I remember those days very fondly. And we used to have doggie pool parties too for their birthdays. LOL. Great you are donating Colin's pants to a charity that can use them. The window vac sounds great

@marcy we are having a good weather week here...chance of thunderstorms starting Thursday into Saturday but for now it's glorious weather. Haha about what your dad and the mileage being enough to get to the moon. I love numbers and I love keeping track and this week I think we might hit 3K miles..woohoo. Yes very thankful we were able to get Chris here that day to replace it. Those babies are expensive wow. I had no clue. We do have a large hot water heater though if that matters...75 gallons. I have no clue how big that is considered but Greg said it is a good size. Good for you accomplishing a lot on the weekend and I hope you had time for a great bday celebration sweet friend

We cycled yesterday and it was just amazing weather...60s, sunny and less windy to start with the wind gradually picking up late afternoon. Today looks like another glorious weather day so yay.

We cycled 80 miles yesterday...it's been a long time since we cycled that many miles. It was such a beautiful day. I felt guilty being out for so long because Bobby was all alone (he is still kept away from the other cats upstairs). And when we got back he ate but then vomited so we had to give him the steroid shot. He was due but we were holding out for as long as we could due to him developing diabetes. So he is OK for now but he definitely has lost weight. I am worried but I know this is life. He is laying beside me now purring. For now all is well.

Today is another beautiful day albeit warmer. Sunblock does not keep me fully protected and to reapply mid ride would not be practical because my hand is covered with gloves and the right hand with a brace. It might be time for the canopy but I like cycling without it because of wind resistance. Anyway looking forward to another good ride but a bit shorter because we got home too late yesterday and that was in part due to a flat on the rear tire 11 miles from home. Never a dull moment lol.

Today I was supposed to do labs and I just didn't feel like not having coffee. In truth every day this and last week I was trying to gear myself up to do labs and every day I canceled. I have a big appointment next Monday along with Greg and we are not prepared. This doctor is not nice at all but he is a big deal in the field. Bone health field. He is in his 80s and I am expecting him to retire just like the other specialist did last year, Same specialty so now we are more reliant on him than before. Last night I got an email from this doctor and he was do you have labs? Please email me them before the appointment so I can look them over. I could tell from his tone he was not happy. I sent him the last labs we have from this past April. I am tired of doctors, appointments and tests. And I have been remiss with the labs. I am sure Monday will not be the most pleasant day and I am worried about our results (DXAS for both of us that day). Thanks for letting me share

Woohoo @missy, 80 miles! Sorry all this medical stuff is proving to be so difficult, and a grumpy doctor in the mix, ugh! I’m not surprised you’re fed up with having to do the constant blood draws. What a pain. Poor Bobby, he’s a brave little soul.

It’s hot and sticky here, we got out and cleaned the back porch yesterday, and were dripping by the time we finished. Managed to get the grass cut this morning, did the edging and cleaned things up.

We’re taking our lovely neighbours out to lunch tomorrow in Fredricksburg, should be fun.

I hope you’ve had a great ride today @missy ahead of the expected rain. That ice cream looks so good Honestly, I can’t be bothered replying to the other threads, but I at those people who think the B in a certain organisation stands for anything other than Biased - the same organisation that refuses to refer to a terrorist organisation as such!

It’s a lovely day here, we’re back from lunch with our lovely neighbours I and G (who’re originally from Colombia), they’re such a sweet couple and we had fun. We pass so many wineries on the way to the restaurant, it was a nice easy drive.

@missy how nice of Jimmy to get your wooden spoons. He's a good guy. As Austina said, sorry about a grumpy doctor and so many medical appointments and labs. I hope those appointments go well. Doctors seem to forget we don't "have to do" what they tell us. Woo hoo for so many miles.

@Austina ugh to hot and sticky weather. I am not used to humidity, it always smacks in the face when we go somewhere humid. I guess our dry heat is better. Glad you had a nice time at lunch.

Not much new with me. Work, goofing off, knitting a bit and watching the clouds and thunderstorms roll by. I did catch a brief rainbow over the observatory though.

I seriously have to reevaluate working Thursday's--they seem to be the worst shifts. I always get home late after a very big load of high acuity patients. My head hurts.

The weather has been fine! Warm days and TS at night. DH has been golfing. At least someone has been having fun!

My sister has to have a melanoma removed. My BIL had one removed a few months ago. Yikes. All good for the BIL as they got it all, hope it is the same for my sister. Worrysome.

@marcy keep up the good work/goofing off/knitting! OH LOL I had a dream last night and you were in it. Somewhere we were at a party and you were wearing a very large pear shape diamond pendant , bezeled. Lovely! But no other jewellery and I remember feeling disappointed that you weren't wearing any colored jewellery!! Not a ring or earrings!! LOL.

Now I am tired. Hope to get a few rides in this weekend. Oh and we have to have a custom toilet made--the space we have is peculiar and the one that needs to be replaced isn't made anymore. Awesome. I can't make this shit up! No pun intended!

@missy I hope your appointments go well. You know how I dread those things. Too cute about Hank waiting for his water. We got more rain today. We ran to get Marty's pickup at Ford and there was standing water on the interstate. I don't see so well in low light anymore but I have confidence in my car. I followed Marty home.

I got up early today so I quit work early because it seemed like I'd been working all day. I did get a lot done. My keyboard and mouse are hand-me-downs from Marty and both have been sticking lately. I ordered new ones from Amazon and they are a noticeable improvement. The keyboard is the older generation one (based on what the charging cord is) but Marty said there wasn't any difference in the keyboard. I know it was a new Apple device because the box was sealed up the way they always are.

We've got an old friend in town that's coming to visit tomorrow. Other than that, no big plans.

@marcy we have rain today..but we did enjoy 7 (?) straight days of cycling so I cannot complain. Though it looks like a lot of rain is coming next week. OH well. That's great you accomplished a lot yesterday and got a new mouse and keyboard. What doesn't Amazon have lol. We just had to get a new roku stick and we got it from Amazon. And cat litter. And well there is very little they don't have and I appreciate the ease of shopping. I don't know how we did it in the old days lol. Speaking of "old" it is very sweet you have an old friend visiting tomorrow. I really value my true friends who have stuck by me these past few years especially. Including the NIRDIs. True friendship is priceless.

Hello everyone else. Hope all is well

The doctor appointments went well. We saw our OD and our eyes are healthy. Whew. Since my cataract surgery I have been aware of an increased risk of RD (and both my maternal grandfather and father had RDs) so I am always a bit on edge when I have an eye appointment. Also mac degeneration but my genetics (DNA report) state I have a 100% chance of getting MD which I have accepted. And in the meantime do what I can to keep my eyes as healthy as possible given my genetics. The DNA eval is amazing and has been pretty much on point with everything to date

We went cycling after the appointments and it was a beautiful day. Warm but east wind breeze kept it comfortable. Today is rain so no cycling. But we do need to run errands as I am out of produce and other items. I am sending Greg to Costco without me and then after that we will run our other errands including WF and TJ s among other stuff we have to do. I just don't like Costco on the weekends. Not too bad but I delegate that to my DH and he is a sweetheart to accommodate me

We did our food shopping yesterday, then spent time in the pool, the weather is glorious ATM, not too hot (for us!), we must be getting used to the heat FT with our friends this morning - nearly 3 hour gabfest! Just come in from the pool and have put the lasagna in to cook. As they say on the cooking shows “here’s one I made earlier”

We’ll probably mow the back tomorrow before it gets too hot, then another pool day.

We used to travel 25 minutes to go one but last year they opened one 9 minutes away so it is much closer. And it is a huge store. Very wide aisles and bright and clean. I love going there. And of course no one beats TJs for customer service. Always so upbeat and cheerful. I could never work there lol. Glad you are enjoying such beautiful weather and also a good FT with friends. I swear time flies and when I am on my Zoom with my girlfriends the hours pass like minutes. It's crazy. Ooooh lasagna. Yummmm. Hope you have leftovers

Yesterday was avery long day yesterday and it went as well as possible.

Dr B was the "nice" Dr B and our results were excellent and we were all pleased
In fact, because it went so well I canceled the appointments we had in Philadelphia with another specialist at the end of the month
She is young and not as experienced as Dr B but when he stops working (he's in his 80s) we need someone. We saw her last year and I plan on seeing her next year but this year I canceled. The big problem is she doesn't book in advance and when they finally open the books she books immediately. She is very popular. I called to cancel the end of June appointments after we saw Dr B and they had no dates to reschedule as she is booked through December but they won't open the books til sometime in October. The thing is they never know til that day and last year I called every day but by the time they opened the books she was totally scheduled and there was nothing. I was lucky to get these appointments. But in any case I will try to reschedule for 2026. She is not needed now. Sorry for the long explanation lol.

Today I have a "hair" appointment for my alternative hair and it is going to rain all day so no big plans. This morning we had so many cats waiting for food. Oy oy oy. And a big raccoon. She is hungry too (though she is quite chubby lol) so it's challenging because we want everyone to have enough food but the raccoons really eat so much and they are not afraid of me or the cats of course. So I just keep going out with more food. This morning I used 16 cans 5.5 oz each of wet food and a whole lotta dry food.

Yay, so glad the appts went well @missy, what a relief. Aww, what cute kitties, I do love a ginger They’re looking in really good condition.

Not much going on here, it was hot yesterday, so went went in the pool early, then I got the housework done.

Our 6 monthly dental appts this morning, and it’s going to be a bit cooler, 80’s instead of 90’s. Did I mention the pool was 95 on Sunday, phew it was like a bath

But seriously I have to investigate this as two months ago my platelets were 100,000 higher in number so it was a significant drop and this lab puts me in the thrombocytopenia category. I do not want an extra thing if you kwim. Anyway sharing our sweet treat from yesterday



And we saw a baby egret on our way back..sooooo sweet!

Oh no @missy, I hope there’s something you can do to get your platelets back up, that’s worrying it’s dropped so much in such a short time.

We’re also having quite a bit of rain @Inked, fortunately at lot of it’s at night. Having said that, the accompanying thunder and lightning is pretty awful.

We sorted out everything we need for our upcoming trip, it’s amazing what a lot you can pack in to roll up vacuum seal bags. We’re only taking hand luggage!

Another massive storm during the early hours of the morning, it makes sleeping challenging to say the least!

We can 2nd at trivia yesterday, at least the sour pusses didn’t win

@Austina thanks. Trying not to worry and I will repeat the labs. I have the script all ready to repeat (I contacted one of my providers and they emailed a script immediately to me) but want to wait a while before I do just in case whatever is happening is temporary. Unlikely of course as the platelets have been decreasing over the past year (I run labs approx every 3 months) but I want to be smart and not rush into repeating but give it time. I did schedule a hematology appointment but my hematologist is away from the office for the summer due to a family emergency and the one I will be seeing in July can be a bit condescending so not sure I will keep it. Though if my platelets keep dropping I will probably have no choice. YAY speaking of choice....good choice not checking in luggage... That is the easiest most efficient way to travel. I am not a fan of storms and they keep me awake too. Woohoo trivia champs...yassss. And good the sour pusses (gives kitties a bad name lol) did not win...Hugs

@Slickk hang in there you are at the home stretch. Here school ends June 17th so Monday is their last day. My youngest niece is in school til the end of the month. Happy almost weekend..XOXO

@Inked the weather has sucked...we have been cycling in between (and sometimes smack dab in the middle of lol) raindrops and I am not a fan of getting soaked on the bike. But it has happened haha. Glad you are cycling despite our crappy weather and wish we could cycle together. Fingers crossed our weather is not as bad as predicted but tomorrow looks like a washout unfortunately. Hello everyone else.

We had a good cycling day yesterday despite Greg having to get home for a work CC. We left early and managed to cycle 70 miles again (because we got started early) just like the day before. Not our new normal but with the challenging weather we are making the most of each day

We are cycling today but then the next 3 days rain is predicted...bah humbug. Mother Nature is in a bad mood I think.

Happy Caturday Saturday!

Weather here is very strange, hot but dull.

Wow to another 70 mile day @missy! Boo to a rainy weekend and no cycling over the w/e, I’m not sure we’ll be in the pool as it’s very overcast here. I’m glad you were able to get the prescription, and are adopting a wait and see approach. I’m assuming waiting won’t affect you too much?

Been spending time getting the garden sorted out, and anywhere in the house that we won’t be using during the week.

Nothing planned for the w/e, have a good one lovely NIRDIs

Hello everyone else. Hope all is well

I am soaking wet this Caturday Saturday...raining cats and dogs out there lol
Just got home and I am staying put. We accomplished a lot


I redid labs despite wanting to wait I impulsively decided to do it.
Unfortunately I was not aware Lab Corp closes at 1030AM on Saturday. That is new since Sept and I have not been to Lab Corp since they changed their hours. We got there at 11:50 AM and they were closed. Fortunately across the street there is a (different than the one I go to) Quest and we got there at 1155AM and they were closing at noon. I was lucky as they took me immediately (no one was there at that time). So we shall see. I am a bit nervous about my platelets still being low but I can't hide my head in the sand. I guess.

Then we ran errands. TJs and WF. Greg went to Costco this morning without me. And it poured the whole day so far.
Earlier this AM I brought two of my alternative hair pieces for bangs with a local stylist and she did a pretty good job.
My first time there and I wanted to compare with my other stylist. I like them both. Good to have options.

Yesterday we enjoyed cycling and we cycled 75 miles knowing the rain was coming and staying for a while.
I don't feel 100% so hope I am not getting sick. I am very tired.
And I got a nosebleed last night. Coupled with the low platelets I am a little worried but we will see

NIRDI shout out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Busy week--shifts were OK, busy with not a moment to spare. Ran around the rest of the week. We rode today and added an open house into the route. Still looking for a property for the DS but what we saw today will NOT be happening. The paths were busy of course and it is warm but it looks like some rain may be on it's way. At least there isn't any smoke from the wildfires. Lots of buzz around town as the G7 is almost upon us. No big plans for Father's Day--I'll get take out.

@missy sorry about the news of low platelets. And the nose bleed. Always something? I hope the furry mobsters are OK. Stay dry!!

@Austina good to get a handle on the yardwork...never ending job.

@Slickk your school year is almost at an end! YAY!!!! I hope you have a restful summer.
