Despite the rain we still have lots and lots of pollen. Yay for cycling. Sorry about your ds not being able to find a suitable home yet. The furry mobsters are a handful but they are so precious I cannot be upset with them. And Jasper is a love bug. So is Gracie when it is on her terms. Oliver too. Omg so relieved! My cbc from yesterday came back and my platelets are in range now at 235!
Weird that 4 days ago platelets were 120 and wbc 4
And yesterday labs showed wbc at 8.5. How does it change that dramatically when nothing changed?

Anyway I’m just so relieved

We had a good weekend despite all the rain
This is another week where rain predicted every day
But keeping my spirits up and seeing if we can cycle at all between raindrops
If not we are hiking

Speaking of which we hiked yesterday and it was a steady drizzle for the first 90 minutes but then it started raining more heavily. We were prepared but we did head home a bit early because the weather was not pleasant by that point. We did hike a decent amount and I felt good for having gotten outside. This weather can be a downer but we are keeping active despite it.





When we got home Jasper went right onto my lap and wouldn't move. Purring like a loud motor. He is such a love.

Hi NIRDI’s!

@missy we are getting daily thunderstorms too. We sure need the moisture, but our wind dries things out quickly. We are looking in to getting gravel put around the house to help keep fires away from the house. Nice that Jasper snuggled up right away when you got home, I’d be asking “what did you do?” Ha Ha. I am sorry the pollen and smoke is so bad there for you. I sat outside this weekend and ragweed got me going. That’s why I don’t usually sit on the patio. I am glad your eye appointments and other appointments went well. Sorry to hear your platelets were so low. Sending mega dust your second labs are fine. I love your sunrise (or sunset) pictures. They are so pretty.

@Austina you’ll enjoy a TJ nearby. We have a Sprouts here that is similar. I hope you aren’t having too hot of weather. My in-laws said it was 110 when we called them on Sunday. That’s nice you can spend time using FT with your friends. It makes it so easy to keep in touch with people. Yay the sour pusses didn’t win at Trivia. There seems to be at least one in every crowd. Great plan to check in your luggage. I am already missing my flower pots, so I’ll be anxious to pictures of your pretty flowers this summer.

@Inked I am glad you are enjoying a bike ride every day.

@canuk-gal is there a housing shortage there (just wondering since it seems like the search for a place for DS has been several months now)? My SIL was looking for a place to rent for awhile and kind of decided places want too much money. I am glad you aren’t getting smoke there.

We had a busy week with Marty’s sister here. She broke her toe the day before she headed our way, so she was on the couch with her foot propped up most of the time. She’s used to wandering around and doing things. We ordered Door Dash for supper most of the time since it was just us. Marty eats later when he gets home from the gym. I made snickerdoodles for us on Friday with a big bag for her to take with her when she left Sunday. Sadly we both forgot to get them out that morning. I spent most of Sunday doing laundry, then it was back to work today.

Ouch @marcy, your poor SIL, I hope her toe heals quickly. We got rid of the mulch the builder put in the flower beds, and have been busy putting white rock everywhere, including all the new beds. To be fair, with the wind, a lot of the mulch just blew away It’s a good idea to create a barrier round the house, even if you’re not at threat of wildfires.

I hope DS isn’t getting despondent with the lack of suitable housing stock, @canuk-gal, not a problem around here, they’re building far too many new homes. I hope work is T too bad this week.

to your blood work coming back in to acceptable levels @missy, what a relief. It’s bizarre that it was so different just a few days before. Glad you’re getting out despite the weather.

It’s been lovely here, and we’ve been making the most of it. Looking like it’s going to be pretty cool in some of the places we’re visiting next week.

After my medical appointment yesterday we ended up cycling 60 miles. Not an ideal cycling day but we decided to go for it and it was worth it..we did break a spoke but Greg fixed it on the road. It was very misty wet and foggy with poor visibility all day. But still any day we are cycling is a good day lol



Today the rain is predicted to be too heavy to cycle and tomorrow thunderstorms all day. OH well. Supposedly friday and Saturday are nice albeit hot and we are getting a heat wave so we are in for 90s plus temps for at least 4-5 days coming soon

Hello everyone else. We had a busy day yesterday but it worked out and it was fun

We went cycling yesterday lol
We are nuts haha

When we got back home yesterday morning after our dental appointments the radar had changed and the rain got pushed til later so we decided to go for it

It was much warmer than the day before (and each day is getting warmer yet..heat wave starting and 90 plus temps (real feel 100s) for the foreseeable future. I cannot complain because my friend is dealing with temps of 111F but to be fair her humidity is low so it probably feels more comfortable than our temps right now with 100% humidity.

Greg thinks we have a window today to0o with which to go cycling but we will reevaluate after I work out. Because the radar has been changing from minute to minute this past week. Literally one moment it says 10% chance of rain at 7AM and the next moment 100% chance. As one example. This is what we have been dealing with all week as we try to evaluate the cycling possibilities each day

Of course if we are riding we usually have to get ice cream and Jimmy was there and he ALWAYS gives us so much ice cream. He is very generous with us and well not that we need that much but I will always finish my ice cream

Before the storms. Like 2 minutes before. Praying Sasha is safe. He was just relaxing last night and then in an instant huge winds, torrential downpours and thunder and lightning. Terrifying and I pray Sasha found shelter fast. Pepsi, Fresca and a few others were hanging out in the front yard just before the storm but I saw them this morning. Have not seen Sasha yet..

Yesterday I saw my nephrologist in the early AM. I adore him. He is so smart and kind and thoughtful
And his wife who is his office manager is very stern (Russian descent) but has warmed up to us and even complimented my dress yesterday and that was a surprise coming from her. But she is very nice to us despite her hard exterior.

Then we went cycling and it was glorious. It was dry and in the 80s so felt comfortable because it was not humid. Unfortunately the next 6 days or so are predicted to be not just hot but humid with poor air quality. Not sure I shared that my asthma has been flaring despite Dupixent. MY nephrologist recommended a good pulmonologist but I forgot to call his office yesterday to see how many months away he is booking. I am sure I won't be able to get in soon but I do want to schedule something even if it is many months away




We plan on cycling today but it is hot and humid.

Absolutely brutal weather. Rainfall warning. High winds. Cold. I went out today and I did not enjoy the weather!!!!! Last year this time we were in PS + San Diego and PS was 50C! Gosh I miss it!!!!

Boring weekend cuz we are kinda shut in. I did have a Dr. appt today--and I really like the new Dr. who has taken over for one who left. She is a keeper. Took a trip to the mall, and the whole city was there cuz of the lousy weather--I knew it would be busy. Bought some clearance glasses at Williams Sonoma.

Thats about it.

Seems for now we have the opposite extremes in weather though thunderstorms are apossibiltiy in our forecast daily with this heat and unstable weather. Just praying our AC keeps working. Yay for scoring glasses at Williams Sonoma and on sale too. Sweet

Hello everyone else. We are considering going cycling in 40 minutes to try beating the very uncomfortable heat but we just got inside from feeding the outdoor cats and it is already beastly hot. My asthma is getting worse and worse and tomorrow I have to try finding a doctor who can see me within a reasonable time frame. I will call both my allergists because no way will I be able to get into a new office fast. But unfortunately vacations are coming up for everyone so unsure how long I am going to have to wait. I am worried because it is back with a vengeance and I was so hopeful about Dupixent which worked so well until a few weeks ago. No trigger that I know of either because our weather was decent air quality etc til today

We did have a good cycling day yesterday with an east wind so it was not bad. Today is a west wind and hotter so if we are cycling we have to leave soon and get back early before the heat of the day



Yesterday we went to our local car show which had been postponed from last weekend because it rained all last weekend
It was fun..I love these cars. I took a lot of quick pics as we were cycling through the show. Not the best pics but I did the best I could on the bike

We just got back from cycling
Both mornings we left before 6am and came home by 10-1030am
I’m working out now but not a full workout. It’s too hot and humid

I called two Dr offices today and have an appointment with one of my allergists tomorrow and podiatrist Wednesday. On top of uncontrollable asthma I’m dealing with a toe issue. lol can’t make this stuff up. Hopefully my allergist will be open to trying to get tezspire approved for me. I’m worried he might not be flexible but hopefully he will be

And hopefully my podiatrist can figure this out. It’s not evident that’s for sure. We see nothing but I’m in pain


This evening I have our weekly zoom call with my girlfriends
It’s been delayed due to one of my girlfriends health issues but she’s all better and everyone is looking forward to seeing each other

Just got a phone call from a pulmonologist my nephrologist highly recommended to me. He’s booked for six months. Long story short he’s putting me in end of July and if they get any cancellation he’ll move me up. I’m relieved just to have an appointment with him in the not too far future. Grateful. He thought he knew my dad but turns out it’s another Dr W. I’m relieved though I know oral steroids are on the table but like I explained to my allergist I’ve worked too hard to get my bones healthy and I’d rather not risk it. But I guess it depends on how controlled we can get my asthma

I do have a pulmonologist at Columbia but she’s more research oriented and I feel not as good with clinical experience and so I wanted to see someone else who’s more clinically savvy

I read an article about a man on his honeymoon who was killed by lightning on a sunny clear day. Out of the blue it struck and was 4 miles away but hit him (toes in the ocean) and he was only 29 and on his honeymoon. In florida. so sad Anyway hope you are having a wonderful week ...hugs

Hello everyone else.

Yesterday we went to my podiatrist who temporarily fixed my toe. Long story short my fourth toe is bending and the nail is hitting the skin. Only permanent fix is surgery but he did a procedure to hold me for summer and then when it starts bothering me again he will try splinting it to grow straight. If that doesn't work he will surgically straighten it. But It's OK I am good for now. I love this podiatrist. He is great. Funny, smart and we talked politics. ON the same page and he is brilliant but I digress

Unflattering smushed legs photo haha. I wear SPF cycling pants when cycling but I guess 5 hours of cycling proves to be too much for complete protection



After the podiatrist we decided to go to the outlets. OMG I cleaned up. 7 sun hats so pretty and two pairs of shoes and a cycling jacket and more stuff. I almost bought dresses too but then I checked myself. I have so many dresses so passed. It's just there were great prices and Greg got two hats so he got something too lol. We took a break with some cool drinks in the middle of the day...it was 102 degrees







On the way home in a cool air conditioned car. Wearing my Solumbra (or Coollibar I don't remember which) hat.
I bought so many great sun hats yesterday but they were in the abc of the car and this is the one I was wearing all day. I love hats

Finally got somewhere with decent Wi-Fi. We’re now in Billings, Montana. The scenery has been spectacular, Mother Nature is amazing.

These early morning starts are killing us

So glad you got your podiatrist appt sorted out @missy, and well done on showing some restraint in your shopping Welcome to our world of ridiculous temperatures, hopefully it’ll cool down and be more bearable.

We visited the Buffalo Bill museum today, lovely museum with great exhibits.

Quick drive buy as I am TIRED after two full/heavy days at work. If, at least, I worked in a windowed environment, I might feel energized by light....but no such luck. Shifts are bogged down by enclosed office spaces. I'll deal until I cannot deal anymore.

Warmish days with monsoon rains in the afternoon. LOL My DH has gotten home after his early golf games unscathed, but when I walk home from work it is rain! . I'OK but yesterday the skies opened!

That's it. Lucky I the energy to type this much. LOL

@missy I hope the podiatrist can help your toes. I swear we are twins on these things - my fingers and toes face every way but the way they are supposed to, I can barely type on my phone because my index finger hits the wrong key. My right foot has 2 toes that move as one anymore. I wrap some of that self-stick tape to one of them when it gets to hurting. My pinkie toes are on their side. Sigh. I guess all these oddities are my trade-off for never getting sick. Your pictures - as always - are awesome. I love all the cars. Our car shows aren't that big around here.

@canuk-gal it is kind of amazing how different it feels to work in a place with windows versus one without. I liked at my last job we had big open windows on our floor. I'd go look out and bask in the sunlight on my way to and from the printer or bathroom. Rest up this weekend.

@Austina darn that you are on the other side of the state from us, but cool you are visiting the cool part of the state. It's so pretty. I highly recommend Glacier Naitonal Park in Montana. It's gorgeous. And way larger than Yellowstone. I am not surprised the cell service isn't that good there. Most of Wyoming had dead spots. Some of my cars have come with wifi and they work once we get about 40 miles in to Colorado.

I have been working on charts and videos. Marty headed out for a week to Utah and I'm glad he's getting away from work and the gym. He needs to relax a bit. He went to an astronomy convention and caught up with an old friend of ours. He has been taking great pictures and helping with some star parties at night. I sent him a picture yesterday with a bunch of my teddy bears in his chair. He said he bought me a present yesterday, but he's going to return it now. Ha Ha. So I quickly sent him another picture of his empty chair. They are about 6-10 miles from a forest fire. it's contained, but not out so they are getting a lot of smoke. He'll be home Sunday.

I had a short night. I went to bed about midnight and about 4 a.m. something woke me up. Once I realized what it was I utter a curse word between dumb and luck. The highest smoke detector in the house was beeping and whining it needed a new battery. I swear they program them to go off in the middle of the night. They used to whine for an hour or two then shut up until you're asleep again. But no, this one kept beeping and beeping. I called a friend of ours to see if he and his son would come over and change it out. They are my best friends today. I figure one more will go out every night until Marty gets home. At least they can be reach with a standard ladder rather than the long one.
