Good Morning NIRDI's. Shouting out to everyone. I love this thread so much. I watch it all day long but between things I need to do. Sending love to everyone. If I missed your name in the mix, sending a hug!

Hi NIRDI's

@missy sending hugs. This has been a rough couple of days for you, I'm sure, Sending good Juju for good news and less stress. XOXOXO I loved your sunset picture. How beautiful. It's great to hear you have a trusted friend to advise you on the HRT options. There seems to be so many options on that one! Not easy choices. Oh, and I have a bling update :) an upgrade (more below) but am excited!

@mrs-b I love your pretty pearl and ring combo. I so enjoyed your rehoming of Bodecea and the amazing sweetness of @Matata. Enjoy the chocolate & bubbly!

@marcy have I mentioned his much I enjoy your sassy attitude? You make me giggle more often than not when I read these threads. You have a Schrodinger's ring. It was and was not in the box. HAHA, I would have been in a straight-up panic attack. "#Martysaysiamweird" wear it like a crown! Hope the BiL gets good news on Friday, or if it's not good, at least he gets answers so he will know what he is dealing with and how to fight back.

@MamaBee hope your mother feels better soon.

@junebug17 glad to see your niece and nephew have recovered. Hope your DH found a way through to get his vaccination. Could we have ever imagined what our lives have become in the past year? hope your vaccine comes along quickly too.

@LLJsmom You have bling coming? do tell :)

@Bayek sending a hug. Hope you are thawing out okay down there.

@Austina hope you are staying warm and the house purchase "stuff" is running smoothly. Thanks for your kind words. Do you know how you put something away in the jewelry box and find it again? I just sent my smaller solitaire into Ritani for an upgrade and so grabbed this old miner (original e-ring) out of the "jewelry fort" and scrubbed it really well. Nothing like a great cleaning on a fussy ring to make it look better. I love its fat puffy crown too. And at night, the colored flashes are so much fun. I am enjoying it again.

@Scandinavian hope you are well and your week is going great.

@bling_dream19 glad your mom is doing better! it sounds like this has been a very special time in your relationship. I'm so happy for you. Your new ring is so beautiful! I can see how you'd enjoy the sparkles. It is so well executed. I'm happy to see bling bassed from person to person on PS, and especially when it spreads happiness.

@Polabowla I'm sorry your friend didn't give you that solid listening and support. After 25 years, that is so hard. Sending hugs and hopes it is not MS, but if it is...you can get into remission soon!

@Slick1 Hope your week is going well

@Daisys and Diamonds sending a hug. Pets are family 100% and this must be so hard for you.

Not much happening here. Hubby went to the inlaws in Tennessee to help FiL after shoulder surgery. he has been helping out with the honey-do list at their house and they kept him an extra day :).

Meanwhile, because I have been naughty and subject to temptation, I decided to upgrade my yellow gold solitaire with Ritani. I just upgraded from .82 to 1.29. I am curious if DSS will set in and I end up increasing this diamond size. I think this may be my sweet spot, but I noticed I was already starting to do the math for another upgrade. HA. As much as I enjoy my fussy, heavy platinum halo set, I prefer my simple yellow gold knife-edged solitaire. The upgrade has been put back into a yellow gold 6 prong solitaire, but the heavier version (2.5mm knife-edge band).

I bought outside of rocky-talk recommendations and bought a 60/60 type diamond with a 58% table. HCA said .9 with all Ex. However, it has a 32/41 crown angle. This was one of the trade-offs for a great pricepoint, spready bright diamond and what should be almost top-tier performance...and hey, I can always trade up!

It arrives on the 9th.

Girls,I am not feeling well. Should have guessed I would have a similar reaction to the first dose as my mom.

Just to fill you in on my surgeon telemedicine call yesterday AM. He feels I have secondary hyperparathyroidism and the problem with that is it could mean an insidious cause. Surgery not warranted with secondary and in fact he has to send me to a metabolic bone specialist probably. Doing additional blood and urine tests with my endocrinologist next week and then the surgeon and I will talk. I am apprehensive. Who would have guessed surgery would have been the preferable option :(

Thanks for letting me share. I am scared.

@Austina @MamaBee @Slick1 @canuk-gal @bling_dream19 @MMtwo and everyone else thank you. XOXO. Please forgive me for not responding individually today. Maybe later if I am up to it. The kicker is we have to go to the hospital today for Greg's appointment with a new endocrinologist for an initial. He isn't happy with my endocrinologist and feels we are in an abusive relationship with him. LOL I don't feel the same. Doctors just are busy and don't respond all the time but I am going with Greg to this new endocrinologist and hoping she is excellent and proves to be the right fit for Greg. She won't see me because she only sees thyroid cancer patients.

Leaving you with Bobby. Our least photographed kitty. He is very handsome.

You are not the self-pitying sort at all. As a matter of fact, I have complete faith you will kick the daylights out of the situation and find the best possible solutions. However, you are feeling like crap and I know for a fact when I feel bad and flu-ish, I am not as resilient as usual (and usually I am fierce). Hugs

Thank you! Just took my temperature and I am not are the hospital will let me in with Greg for his appointment. I am 99.5 on my thermometer. My normal temp is 97.1 but they don't know that. Not sure 99.5 will make it past the hospital screening people. Fingers crossed. Off we go now. Getting dressed was quite the chore. Chills and burning up at the same time with a sore arm. The excitement never ends here lol.

OMGOSH! I see there is 5 pages I have to read to catch up!!! eek, I'll do it, but first I want to give you guys an update on me, Texas storms, and covid vaccine.

My story about the Texas freeze, snow etc is not nearly as bad as some peoples but it had its moments for sure. We lost power on and off for seems like weeks, never out long long but could be very annoying, we lost internet for weeks, and I can't read PS on my phone, just too old.

I had told John about the big storm that was supposed to be coming our way but I don't think he listened, then all of a sudden, 4 days before it hit he reads about and immediately orders a small heater for our water pump shed, it came before the storm and THAT is really what saved our butts, placing that heater in the shed made sure the pumps and whatever else in there didn't freeze, lifesaver because we could always have potable water. Not so lucky was our pool pumps.. with electricity going on and off the pool pumps ran for at least 10 days finally the main pump burned up a bit so we had to have that fixed, not that expensive. It was a daily occurrence that we had either a toilet or a sink or shower or tub freeze up but luckily we have a blow dryer and John had another small heater so we could thaw them out, so we were basically okay and no pipes burst that we know of, we did hear loud bangs, we're waiting.. Our big worry was Mike, Cara and Autie, they had no water, and also rolling blackout and out of cable also.. they made it through though and came up this past Sunday (just Mike and Autie, Cara took the day off to rest), eating was tough, went thru what I had in the freezer and pantry, we are in need of more food but we are unable to get a slot for pick up at any HEB near or far from us for pickup, tomorrow John will venture out and go shopping for the first time since last February, he will be a full 2 weeks after his 2nd shot on Friday, I had my 2nd shot this past Sunday.

I had all kinds of reactions to the 2nd shot of the Moderna vaccine. First off I had joint pain that was very painful, a bad headache, fever, chills, loss of appetite and the covid rash on my arm. I took a benedryl today so I'm a bit woozy typing this. :) John's reaction after the 2nd shot was for him to say he had no energy and he felt weak, not hungry and slept most of the first day after his shot but felt better the 2nd.. me? my rash was worse the 3rd day so I took the benedryl and still have this horrid ringing in my ears that has been abating somewhat, but the rash was expanding and moving down my arm so I took the benedryl.

Ihope everyone is well and happy, I have to read these last 5 pages.

love you all @missy @junebug17 @Austina @mrs-b @marcy @Calliecake @canuk-gal @MamaBee @Slick1 @MMtwo @springerspaniel @Polabowla @bling_dream19

be back later and I mean it, no snow, sleet or rain. :)

That’s great you were able to go in with Greg..
No..She has a telemedicine visit at 2:40 with the doctor before she will prescribe anything for her. I’ve been having a hard time trying to get things done for her when I can’t go in person..I spend a lot of time on the phone...My mom can’t hear so I also have to throw my voice. My head, ear and throat hurts from yelling into the phone. If I don’t yell she can’t hear me...My blood pressure is awful even with the Beta Blocker added to my regular blood pressure medicine. I seriously worrying about having a stroke. It runs in my family.

Hey universe - knock off throwing bad things at the NIRDI’s. I’ve got killer rabbits and I know how to use them. (I get Marty to tell them what to do).

Hello lovelies

Oh no, I’m sorry you’re having such an extreme reaction to the vaccine @missy, I hope this means that it’s really having a good effect on your immune system. I wish your consult yesterday had gone better, hopefully the tests you’re due to have will bring good news. Did Greg gel with the new Dr. ? Aww Bobby is indeed a very handsome kitty.

Poor you @mrs-b I hope you’re feeling a little better now, sounds like the side effects are really awful.

Sorry things are also difficult for you at the moment @Slick.

Yikes @Bayek, sounds like you and John have been through the mill with the second dose, but thank goodness it’s done, and you can look forward to some normality in the not too distant future.

Oh dear @MamaBee, you sound exhausted having to deal with all this on top of everything else. Does your Mum not having a hearing aid so you don’t have to keep shouting? I can’t believe they would allow her to remain in pain, it’s barbaric.

I can’t wait to see your upgrade @MMtwo, that’s quite a leap in size, and will be really noticeable.

Glad your ring arrived safely @marcy, do you have a timeframe for the new setting?

We decided to tackle the sitting room ceiling, but I think the paint has gone off, if that’s possible, because it still looks patchy, so it means repainting the whole thing again

Sending love and hugs to you all, it’s about time life threw some good things the NIRDIS way, rather than all the crap that’s been flung around lately

Hi NIRDI’s!

@MMtwo how exciting to be upgrading your Ritani to a larger diamond. I went and found your thread. It’s a very pretty ring and I’ll be anxious to see your new diamond. I know this is not exactly PS-think but there are many beautiful diamonds that don’t fit the ideal specs. And like you said you can always upgrade if you don’t like it. I am delighted to hear I can bring a smile or giggle to your day. I do try to keep myself amused so I am glad to share the wealth. I am sure your in-laws having your DH there to help out after your FIL’s surgery. Hoping he has a speedy recovery.

@missy I am so sorry you aren’t feeling well, hopefully your reactions subside quickly. I hate to hear about the possible diagnosis from your surgeon. Sending you mega dust and hugs. That’s good you were able to go in with Greg; did he like this doctor? Hi Bobby! What a cutie.

@MamaBee I hate to hear your BP is awful, take some time for yourself everyday. That helps me anyway. Can you get someone at the rehab center help relay what your mom can’t hear or understand? It’s rough to stay on top of the care for a loved one especially remotely. I am sending your mega dust and hugs,

@mrs-b I hate to hear you aren’t feeling well after the vaccine. Hopefully tomorrow will be way better for you. Mega dust and hugs coming your way.

@Bayek smart move to get a heater for your water pump before the deep freeze moved in. Darn your pool didn’t fare so well. Glad you were able to unfreeze some things with a hair dryer. We had to do that frequently with our first home - that place was so drafty and cold I slept with a hat, mitten and slippers every night under an electric blanket. Marty always had to melt that plastic stuff around all the windows every fall too. We lived there a little over 3 years and I was sure happy to move from there. Are stores kind of low on food or are trucks rolling in and restocking things? I hate to hear you and John feel so bad after the vaccine; Benadryl hopefully helps. That stuff turns me in to a crybaby. I hope you both are feeling better soon.

@Slick1 hugs and mega dust to you as well.

@Austina I do have an idea on my ring now; Brittany said about 2 weeks in shop. I don’t know if that is outside how long it takes to get my ring in from Stuller. Oh no that you may have to redo the ceiling. Is it textured? Our last house had what they called eggshell ceiling; looks like crushed eggshells. We were glad we never had to paint the ceiling!

I was COLD at work today. At least I’m working at home the rest of the week where I can crank up the heat or turn on the fireplace.

I heard from Brittany today. Stuller can make my ring with a platinum head and I am ordering 14K YG since 3 of my 4 bands are 14K. My diamond was verified, the ring is ordered and paid for. Now I wait. I got to thinking about why they were checking out my diamond before the placed the order then it kind of dawned on me. Someone could send in something to be moved to a new piece of jewelry and the diamond they send in isn’t their ACA or ES diamond. If WF didn’t confirm what you sent in the customer could accuse WF later of switching out their diamond. Woo hoo for serial numbers on diamonds. I wouldn’t make a good crook; I don’t think that way.

I ran the trashcan out to the street this morning then kind of noticed the center of my tires looks pretty worn. I sent Marty a text - I think I need new tires; there isn’t much tread left in the middle of my tires. He wrote back asking me what size tires I have. My answer was expensive. I never heard from him again, I don’t even have 30,000 miles on them. They didn’t look as smooth when I checked them tonight but I’ll have Marty check them tomorrow. I signed my text #marcyneeedsnewtreads

Wishing all of you peace and comforting thoughts.

Take care,
Marcy

@marcy this is the .82 solitaire I am trading in for the 1.29. You looked it up (aweee) but posting here for anyone curious. I am suuuuper excited. I also upgraded the solitaire setting. They have a presentation solitaire (below) and a heavier 6 prong 18k solitaire that has a 2.5mm band instead of the 1.6. I'll probably wear the new ring for a while.

Thanks for your thoughts on the diamond outside of the PS favored cuts. Before my .82 I bought and sent back a 1ct xxx because it was outside of the favored cut style and I let it bug me. It was beautiful but 60/60...but it was so beautiful. I've thought about that for a while. Beautiful is fine. Especially so beautiful that you would have to compare with a slightly better diamond side by side to chase down a 2% performance bump. I'm just too old and tired. Looking forward to "Heresy" 1.29 with it's 32 crown angle. Yes, that is what I am going to call her. >:)

.82 perfect xxxHCA in spec (great stone but too small)

1ct xxx I returned that was a 60/60

@MMtwo your upgraded ring and Heresy will be gorgeous. Our new rings will be twins. Sweet. Darn that you gave up a diamond you enjoyed so much. I've read many times comments by the experts - no matter what the specs say it is all about how the diamond looks in real life. My nephew bought his wife an uncertified 1.25 carat diamond and trust me that diamond can hold it's own against a top spec diamond. It's a firecracker. When will you get your new ring?

@marcy I love that we'll be ring twins. Mine will be back home on the 9th. What about yours?
I lived and learned. Glad that your nephew lucked out on a beauty. 100% true we need our eyes to see beauty.
PS: GIA cert was on my birthday Feb 3, 2021. It's just kizmet.

@MMtwo I saw in your other thread that the GIA cert is on your birthday - it was meant to be. Brittany said my ring would be 2 weeks in shop but I don't know if that includes getting the ring from Stuller, I bet I'll get mine about the same time as yours. I can hardly wait.

GM ladies! I am feeling all better besides a sore arm and big rash on the arm. No more body aches or chills or feeling hot. Whew, what a relief. It lasted about 36 hours.

@Austina thank you. I feel all better now. Greg and I liked the new endocrinologist but we aren't sure if he will switch to her or stay with my endocrinologist. Wednesday we have an appointment with mine so we shall decide after that. I am sorry you have to repaint the sitting room ceiling what a hassle. But I know it will be perfect when you are finished. You have done so much fixing up the house and I know it is beautiful all of it. Well worth the effort. XOXO.

@Slick1 big hugs my sweet friend. Thank you for checking in with everyone especially with all you are going through. I am continuing to send bucketloads of healing dust to your FIL and hugs to you.

@mrs-b how are you this morning? I have been keeping good thoughts for you and continued healing dust being sent your way. So glad you have the Humira now and hopefully you will adjust and the medication will work well for you. I am so sorry it is rough going right now. Big ((((HUGS))).

@marcy woohoo on deciding about the ring. I cannot wait. It is going to be gorgeous. I am with you. I could never be a crook. I cannot even lie-it shows on my face and in my voice. It keeps me honest so that works for me. I wasn't cut out to be a criminal or liar. I am sorry you were so cold at work yesterday. I remember those days and sneaking a space heater under my desk because they weren't allowed. My fingers would turn purple it was so cold. Fun (not) times. Sorry you need new tires. There's always more expenses and problems arising but as long as there are solutions we are good. Thank you as always for your good thoughts. And haha I love that you are getting the killer bunnies on the case. We are all going to be OK because we have the collective good wishes of all the lovely ladies here and the killer bunnies will take care of the rest. XOXO

@bling_dream19 aww you are the sweetest. Thank you. Big hugs. Hope your mom continues a full recovery. XOXO.

@MMtwo sweet ring. You and Marcy are ring twins woohoo. I have to find your ring thread. I feel like I have been missing a lot on PS and haven't seen all the pretty new bling. Thank you for all your good wishes and I am so happy about your new job and all the good things happening. Big hugs to you sweet lady.

@MamaBee how is your mom today? I am so sorry that the place she is in now is less than good. I know you are doing all you can so please don't beat yourself up OK? Soon she is changing her living situation for the better and hold on to that. I just hope she has relief from her pain now. That is exhausting on a whole different level. Pain sucks. Sending you lots of love and good wishes. XOXO.

@Bayek I feel you. I got Moderna too and just the first dose put me to my knees so we shall see what the second dose does. And I got a rash the first day. Glad you and John are done with that and life is getting back to calmer. I hate hearing you are in need of food and hope today you are successful in getting all you need. So scary what happened in Texas and I am so glad you and the entire family got through it and are doing as well as can be expected. I am sending you so much love and big hugs and you rock Great Kate. XOXO.

@springerspaniel (((Hugs))) and more hugs. Hope all is going smoothly.

@sarahb just checking in with you...thinking of you and hoping all is well. XOXO.

@canuk-gal how are you and how is work going? I hope they are not overworking you and I just want to thank you for all you have done and all you do for others. You are one of the good guys and you make a difference. Big hugs to you Sharon.

Hi to everyone else.
We had a busy day yesterday despite my fever. Went to the endocrinologist in the AM for Greg and when we got home I wanted to take a walk because the weather was perfect so we did. It made me feel better being out in the sun with 54F temps outside. Perfect. By the time we got home it was dinner time lol and then we went to sleep and woke feeling all better. I did have some blingy excitement in the afternoon that brightened my day and all I can say is PSers are the best. Today is cooler and windier but we are planning another walk. That is all. Looking forward to an easier day today. Sending you all big hugs and much love. Thank you for your kindness and well wishes and warm hugs and right back at ya.

Hello lovelies

Awwww Pepsi is so sweet sitting in the sun to warm up her bones. I’m glad you’re both feeling better today @missy, that was quite a reaction you had to the first dose. Good idea to wait until after your appt on Wednesday before making a final decision, especially when there’s so much at stake. We’ve been getting out for walks, and it does make you feel better being in the fresh air. It’s quite mild here ATM, but I saw a headline saying we’re due snow after Easter :-o Yep, it’s a pain having to repaint the ceiling, but it has to be done. I don’t know why it’s so patchy because everywhere else is fine. Oy!

All our ceilings are smooth @marcy, textured ceilings were a thing here in the 80‘s but since then they’ve always been smooth. It’s going to be a long 2 weeks waiting for your ring to come back, but it’s nice having something to look forward to. Your previous home sounds a bit like our first house in 1978, it was built in 1926 and had metal window frames, and the first winter we were there, we had icicles on the inside!!! When we had our Land Rover Discovery the guy from the garage said that we’d be lucky to get 10,000 miles out of the tyres :-o

I can’t wait to see Heresy @MMtwo, she’s going to be lovely. I looked up your thread, and I’m happy to see she’s an L, a lovely creamy vanilla colour. Numbers are meaningless if the stone speaks to you and is calling your name, you’re going to be the one living with her.

We had a quick walk because we were expecting 2 deliveries this afternoon, our regular shop, and our meal box. I’m enjoying getting all the ingredients and recipes for 4 meals we wouldn’t normally have, it’s a nice change from having to think of what to have every day.

I hope all the NIRDIS are doing well, sending big hugs to each of you.

:wavey:
