Hi Nirdis!

@missy, sorry your glasses weren't right and I hope you get them back soon. Such a cute pic of the feral kitties. Sweet picture of Fred too. I hope he can start taking the meds for his arthritis soon. It's too bad you had to push back your appointments and hopefully you can reschedule them soon. I hope things go smoothly today at the vet. And of course hoping you get negative results in 3-4 weeks time. I'm really hoping that all this treatment and care has paid off.

@Daisys and Diamonds, your lemonade scones look delicious. I think I might have mentioned I saw Bruce perform in SC a few years back and he was amazing. So glad you figured out how to watch him on the big screen. It's nice you had a good visit with Melanie and Aaron but I'm really sorry they're both struggling with health issues. Very sweet picture of your future queen.

@AV_, it's too bad you didn't make it to Seville and I hope you can get there sometime soon. I had a feeling you would like Scandi's house, and the location! Good luck with work this week. And have fun cooking and using the herbs around you. Your plans for your garden sound great and I know you will enjoy having your own herb garden.

@Scandinavian, I hope F's limp is all better by now. Gorgeous scenery and the house looks beautiful. Good luck with the floors. Continuing to send support to your mother, grandmother, and you. Take care <3

@Mamabean, LOL to David loving winter because of snow days...my son feels the same way! I'm sorry about Chris's troubles and I understand needing to compartmentalize; you have many other things that need your time and attention . I know this is not easy for you.

@Austina, wonderful news that Kim found a job! That is such a shame about Shirley's dog. It's a very sad situation overall and I feel for everyone involved. Nice that you went to a movie and got some shopping done. Great news that Colin is feeling much better and back to normal.

@bling_dream19, love your wedding favors! Perfect memento for such a special day.

@canuk-gal, stay warm! I hope the diamond shopping went well. Looking for a good stone can be fun but also a little stressful sometimes.

@marcy, hope you had a good weekend and you're doing ok.

We're back in NJ, got home late Sunday night. Not up to much...just laundry, errands, and chores around the house. I'm hosting Thanksgiving this year so I need to start gearing up for that. I might take a ride up to my brother's sometime this week.

Sending good thoughts to all the nirdis!

What is typical thanksgiving dinner for you? Not so normal here, so just basic turkey...

GM lovely ladies. It's Wonderful (I hope) Wednesday. Culture day for Bobby, Tommy and Oliver. Very nervous to say the least. Not sure if we can ride today as Greg has a CC right in the middle of the day making a ride on either end challenging plus the 3PM vet visit so just not sure how this day will shape up. Wanted to say a good morning to all and hope you have a lovely day.

@canuk-gal oh my to your snowapalozza. Too early too early but I know by you that it isn't too early. Stay warm and comfy cozy dear Sharon and before we know it (I hope) Spring will be here. And goodbye snow. Speaking of snow oh Marcy...

@marcy how are you? Thinking of you.

@bling_dream19 thanks for the Costco tip. They had no pocketbooks there when we went unfortunately and I looked because I was hoping they would. I got my pocketbook at Steinmart. It's the Sak. I know nothing about that brand but needed a pretty and simple black pocketbook and it fit the bill. I will try remembering to take a photo of it later for you. Your weekend plans visiting FI's sister and BIL sound good and woohoo for getting invites from Costco. What don't they have? Thanks for the bleeding/anemia info. I will explore that. Hugs.

@Austina aww I am glad the Birman is coming still but sad that she already knows not to look for Dottie anymore. :( I am glad Colin is feeling all better. That is a relief. Cold by you brrrr. I am not looking forward to our first frost or snow. Glad you enjoyed the movie. And yes to doing Pilates. I wonder if I will remember how to do my exercises on the Pilates Reformer when we return to Brooklyn.

@Slick1 have a good Wednesday and hugs. Hope Chase is rallying.

@Scandinavian more dust to your mom and hugs to you. Keeping good thoughts for your dear mom and all of your family.

@Mamabean hope you are enjoying a lovely week. Hugs.

@AV_ hope your week is going smoothly.

@Daisys and Diamonds good morning. How is everyone doing by you? Garry, Melanie, and Mr Tibby?

@Tekate sending you big hugs.

Have a lovely day girls.
Leaving you with a security camera photo last night with Samson on top of the cat feeder. LOL they love hanging out on the roof of the feeder. Cats and raccoons alike. I thought it was a cool photo so sharing it with you.

@missy Finally, the weather broke - Sunday night the wind was enough to rip some tiles off roofs nearby (none from mine!) & the cloud cover has went with it! Plans for this week - are so darn complicated, I cannot recount (terror!), except for impending spring cooking involving salted cod (local winter food - some seriously great, reminding Japanese cured & dry fish) & new spring herbs that are everywhere & I cannot wait to bring into this garden once it is properly cleared (the idea is to get a meadow like ground cover going, salted with further edible caveats - it takes a couple of seasons, but this is what I've grown up (best way to know things, IMHO; as opposed to my other work...); perhaps not very common).

I am rambling, of course... need to finish coffee & start for home.

I think you are amazing coherent if this is written without the company of coffee! Lol but not kidding! You should come visit some time. I promise to keep you well and truly caffeinated. One of my best skills!

Hi NIRDI's

Missy, love the snow pants photo. Thank you for checking on me today. I appreciate it. I am sending mega dust your way that round 2 of the RW cultures come back negative. Woo hoo to the miles you have put on your bike this year. You and Greg rock. Thanks for all the great photos; I like the night shot with kitties and raccoons. I hope they get your glasses right for you.

Junebug, nice that you had a great time in South Carolina. How exciting to be hosting Thanksgiving soon.

Daisys and Diamonds - nice that your tomato plants survived. Lemonaid scones sound amazing. Your treats look delicious. I saw that picture of Camila hugging that little girl; it is so cute. Yay for getting your TV and Netflix hooked up.

AV, sorry work is keeping you so busy

Scandi, keep you, your mom and grandmother in my thoughts. The astronomy meeting went well. Lots of discussion and follow up. Gorgeous pictures. Oh no about F taking off. So scary.

Austina, that is something your old insurance company called you. Someone from my new company keeps calling me seeing if I want to come in and talk to them. Huh? Also, I have not found a hint of the updated info in our info at our mortgage company. Sigh. Yeah for Kim getting a job. Sweet. Oh no about Shriley's dog. That is so sad. Oh no to cold weather.

Jimmianne, I hope you are doing well. Is it still fall there? We are having winter already.

Sharon, hopefully you have some nice enough days to get in a few more miles on your bike. That is great your friends cat is going strong. Oh no that snowpalozza showed up - sadly that means it's coming my way.

Mamabean, I would take Arnold's money for sure but I doubt I get that strong. I notice more and more difference in my abilities with more muscles and I only am lifting 65 pounds and pressing 35 pounds. Sorry your neck gets sore. Sounds like you are having fun with your insurance comapny too. I have my ering insured with Jeweler's Mutual; nothing else though. I asked about adding it on the homeowners but it was overly priced and very vague how they'd replace things. Oh no to your mom's bridge falling out. How is she doing? Nice to hear David enjoys Christmas so much and your house has to look very festive. I hope Chris continues to do figure things out for himself; that has to be hard for you.

Bling Dream, your wedding favors look great! Sweet that your scored your dream venue for the wedding. How exciting.

Thanks for missing me. I was going to post tonight anyway to let you know I was okay but Missy contacted me this morning. November is a tough month for me since it's my parents birthdays; then the holidays, then the anniversary of my dad'd death. I get sappy. I've been doing some me time - knitting and reading.

Take care.
Marcy

Hello lovelies

I second @missy , what can’t you get at Costco @bling_dream19? That’s great that everything is progressing so well with your plans. Oh my goodness, I have visions of you disappearing in a mountain of boxes with all your purchases

Always so much to do when you’ve been away @junebug17, especially when you’re coming back to a busy season. Lots for you to do to get ready for Thanksgiving, I hope you’re getting some help with all the preparations. How’s your brother doing, has he finished fixing up his place?

Keeping everything crossed that you have the best possible outcome from the vets visit today @missy and the kitties weren’t too stressed by the cultures. I’m sure you’ll remember how to use your reformer once you get back to the city, and I’m hoping you’ll get the all clear from the cultures, so it can be soon. It’s freezing here again, not technically as cold, but the wind chill, oy, even with my thermal lined tights and a heavy coat.

It’s been one of those days, I‘Ve been bombarded with emails from Shirley, saying they’ve bumped off her dog and she was next :eek-2: I contacted her son, to let him know what she’s saying, and also reassured him that we know that it’s not true. I waited to reply because frankly, I didn’t know how to respond, then she emailed to tell me her dog had died because it got in to her meds. I honestly don’t know how they’re coping, because I’m finding it difficult dealing with her outbursts and I’m not even there. I know that sounds terribly selfish, but when she’s like this, it’s hard to know what to say. I won’t fuel her paranoia, but I don’t want her to feel that I don’t care.

I hope everything is OK with you @marcy and that you’re both ok.

How’re things with you @Mamabean, I hope you’re having a stress free time?

Hi @AV_ what’re you up to?

I hope you haven’t had any more snow @canuk-gal.

Sorry if I’ve missed anyone, but I hope all the lovely NIRDIs are having a good day.

:wavey:

I would've taken a pic but my living room is too embarrassing. I still haven't finished seeing what works. That will be my night when I get home from choir.
@marcy been thinking about you too and hope you are ok. Hugs!

GM girls!

@junebug17 thank you dear Junie. Glad you had a good time away and sounds like you are right back into the routine of things. How nice you will be visiting your brother this week. And also very nice you are hosting Thanksgiving this year. It is a lot of work but I always loved having my family over to our home and celebrating Thanksgiving. Hopefully it will go smoothly for you and I am sure everyone will have a delightful time. You are a gracious and lovely hostess. XOXO.

@marcy it's always a pleasure to chat with you and I am in complete agreement re what we chatted about. It's such a tough month for you and my heart goes out to you and sending warm and gentle loving hugs your way. Keeping you in my thoughts. Hope today is a wonderful day.

@canuk-gal yes haha @Scandinavian can have all my snow too. LOL. Glad you enjoyed a gorgeous day yesterday. I love a pink sky at sunset with fluffy clouds. Breathtaking. XOXO.

@bling_dream19 you have nothing to be embarrassed about re stuff and messes believe me. You are sorting everything out and it is a very busy hectic time for you but yes a joyous and wonderful time too. Thanks for the Costco info online. I didn't realize they had bags online lol. What a selection too. Some nice designer bags. I have to resist though as we have spent a small fortune on vet care these past few months. Anyway sending you hugs and lots of good luck for the upcoming happy occasion.

Thank you! Grandmother is a little better but the pressure on/in/? her eye is too high. My father took her to the eye specialist again yesterday and he prescribed some new meds. Hoping it helps. Guess your guess was right @missy!

Well I am or rather was in the field. I am sending so many healing vibes your grandmother's way and hoping the meds help control her eye pressure. Sending your mom bucketloads of healing dust too. And always keeping good thoughts for you and your family sweet Scandi. (((Hugs))).

@Austina Oy, I am so sorry about Shirley's mental deterioration and that has got to be one of the most challenging issues to deal with for her family and friends. You handled it perfectly. It is a tragedy her dog died though because of her forgetfulness or other mental issues. Makes me very sad. Thank you for all your support and good wishes Austina. This has been one of the most (if not most) challenging events we have dealt with to date and all I can say is I hope nothing surpasses it for a very long while. I am not foolish enough to think nothing will surpass this as life is stressful and we are getting older but I would like a good respite please once this is over and done but of course I know life doesn't work that way so whatever comes our way we will deal with as best we can. One day at a time. Sending you hugs and good thoughts and have a lovely day.

@Mamabean thank you dear Joanne. I appreciate your good wishes and now we wait. And hope and pray we don't hear from the vet for many weeks. Fingers and toes and everything crossed. It occurs to me that everyone (but Bobby) is on or will be on meds for a long time or life. Fred is on Lactulose due to his constipation and arthritis meds. Tommy will be on his thyroid meds soon. If we can get them into him. And Oliver is on lots of different things for his loose BMs. Oy. We just stopped the itrafungol but it never ends. Just praying RW is at an end. Pretty please universe. Pretty please.

How are you doing @Mamabean ? Hope all is going well and sending you hugs.

@Tekate you know you are in my thoughts and I am sending you hugs and lots of good wishes. Kate the Great. XOXO.

@AV_ how wonderful if you and @Scandinavian can get together. You will love each other. I can vouch for her and say she is a wonderful and lovely person as is her entire family. Hope you are having a good week dear girl.

Yesterday we actually managed (Greg is amazing and a miracle worker) to ride despite lots of work and he accomplished it all though yes he had to work super late in the evening and super early in the AM on top of everything else. It was a good ride but we couldn't do ice cream because we had to be back home early for one of Greg's work calls. Today is sort of iffy but we will see what we can do. I did take a photo for you lovely ladies yesterday while cycling. It was much colder yesterday than the day before.

Lol yes I know, but shouldn’t really need a ms. eye doc (ms = missy pun intended lol) from all the way across the ocean! She is already on meds re eye pressure but I hope these new ones will do the trick. You are so good at cycling! I’m amazed every day at your diligence! It’s raining here today. Again. But hoping for snow tomorrow. Please send me any that comes your way!

Sharon, I'll send Scandi our snow too. Nice that you had a bright, sunny day. It started snowing here tonight.

I’m really sorry that November is so hard for you. Life can be unfair and difficult. Hoping for some silver linings in your days. I love reading Harry Potter when I feel a little down. Prefer (to re read) books I know I like lol. Hugs.

@Austina, my brother has been doing generally ok but he suffers from insomnia and recently it's been very bad so he has been having a rough time lately and not doing too much work on his place. He's still doing the tiling in his bathroom and works on it whenever he's feeling up to it.

I totally understand your dilemma in answering Shirley. Her emails sound overwhelming And I can see where it would be stressful figuring out what to say.

@Scandinavian, I do the basic traditional Thanksgiving meal and nothing too fancy LOL. Turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, bread stuffing, green beans, carrots, creamed corn (a request from dh), asparagus, corn bread, cranberry sauce, and rolls. Pumpkin and pecan pie for dessert...and probably chocolate chip cookies from Costco...they're really good ha!

Oh no to F making another run for it! I'm glad you were able to track him down, how stressful. I hope the new meds help your grandmother. You have a lot to deal with and I'm thinking of you!

Hi NIRDI’s!

Missy, hoping the cultures come out negative even though you have to wait for that good news. Woo hoo for getting a ride in yesterday. Beautiful picture from your ride.

Scandi, I will send snow your way. Thank you for the kind words. I like to watch videos of Minions to cheer me up; they always make me laugh. I loved the Harry Potter books; I’ve thought of buying them for Kindle and read them again.

Daisys and Diamonds; we are going to my nephew’s for Thanksgiving so all I have to bake is cheesecake. We left it out on the counter one year so I usually get a text from all my nephews that morning - don’t forget the cheesecake.

Junebug, sorry to hear your brother has insomnia. My MIL has it really bad and I think Marty has it too. He often gets up between 2 and 4; he’ll sleep all night if he takes one of those over the counter sleep aids but he doesn’t want to rely on them. Thank you for your kind thoughts.

Callie, thank you again for checking on me yesterday and today.

We had enough snow to make the roads really icy. Marty took me in to work; I don’t know if he can tomorrow though. I think he has clients in the morning and late afternoon. I’ll figure it out.

I left a roast cooking in the crock pot all day so we made some rice when we had a hot meal when we got home.

Off to knit on my lap blanket for work; I swear the AC is running right over my desk.

Take care.
Marcy

Morning lovelies

The day got away from us yesterday!

I’m so sorry @marcy that November is a difficult month for you, sometimes the memories can be overwhelming and we need to step back. How’re things going at the gym, is Marty getting more clients? Oh no to all that snow, it certainly felt cold enough here yesterday at 4 degC that we thought it might start. Take care driving to work, but yay, it’s Friday, so almost the weekend.

I can certainly sympathise with your brother @junebug17, it’s no fun trying to sleep when you just can’t drop off, or waking after a couple of hours thinking you’ve slept all night, and it’s only 1 am. Your TG dinner sounds lovely, and I’m sure your guests will enjoy every mouthful. :lickout:

Oh no to naughty F escaping, the little monkey. Have you thought about a GPS tracker collar @Scandinavian, I know some Spinone owners have used them. It’s heartstopping when you don’t know where they are. Dottie only did it once, she got the whiff of a deer and gave chase. It felt like hours before she finally reappeared, puffing and panting with her tongue hanging out of her mouth. In reality, it was probably a few minutes, and she scared herself so much from not knowing where we were, she never did it again. Continuing to send good thoughts to you, your Mum and Grandmother, and wishing them better health.

I hope the kitties were all OK having their cultures done yesterday @missy, I know it’s an anxious time for you, even more so having to wait so long for the results. I’m sure all your hard work and diligent regime MUST pay off, and I’m only thinking positive thoughts that the results will be all clear. Will you head back to the city when you get the results? I’ve noticed a pattern with Shirley that when she’s over tired, she becomes very manic and more paranoid. Her son said Bob took her to a Dr 3 years ago, who prescribed anti-mania drugs, and she flat out refused to take them. I really don’t know what they’re going to do, because the baby is due just after Christmas, and they’ll have more than their hands full with him.

Have you decided what you’re keeping yet @bling_dream19 ?

Adam said they’ll be having turkey at Thanksgiving, so probably won’t be having it at Christmas @Daisys and Diamonds :eek-2: Colin looks forward to his turkey dinner all year round so he’ll be devastated  I’m not sure what we’ll be having at their place, possibly Vietnamese food.

It’s Kim’s birthday today, I’ve bought her a pair of sapphire earrings, which I’ll give her when we go, and I’ve also go her a pendant for Christmas.

We did our food shopping yesterday, then in the afternoon, sorted out what clothes we’ll be taking for the trip. Colin’s keeping an eye on the weather on the West Coast, because it varies quite a bit in the places we’re visiting, then it’ll probably be a lot cooler in Austin.

Well, I better get up and get on with the day, Happy FriYay lovely NIRDIs :wavey:

GM Lovely ladies, Happy FriYAY! How did it get here so fast? Just a quick post as I have to start cleaning (que in Cinderella song here please lol).

@junebug17 so sorry about your brothers insomnia. That is very hard to bear and affects one's whole mood. Hope you have a good visit with him and for thanksgiving plans go well.

@marcy hope yesterday was a good day and you are feeling ok. Sending continued loving hugs and good thoughts your way. XOXO.

@bling_dream19 I cannot wait to see which boots you decided to keep and how your plans are progressing. Keep telling yourself you are marrying the love of your life and it is all good. Hugs. And happy FriYAY. :)

@Scandinavian continued healing dust and hugs your and your mom's way. And yes I will happily send snow your way as I am sure @canuk-gal will do as well.

@canuk-gal how is the rest of your week progressing? Have you started holiday shopping yet? We bought for everyone (not many people) on our list. Nieces, nephew, Aunt and Uncle and parents. That's it for us. For the most part the adults don't exchange gifts but this year my Aunt and Uncle are hosting a Christmas Eve party celebrating their anniversary and my parents anniversary so we got them gifts. Hope you are having a good Friday. Hugs.

@Slick1 thinking of you and Chase and sending loving and warm and healing hugs your way.

@Austina such a shame about Shirley and I wonder if meds would help her? Maybe a visit to a psychiatrist would be beneficial as I am sure things have changed re her status since she last went to one. So sorry about all their family is dealing with and you are right once the baby comes it's going to be that much more challenging. Hoping you are enjoying a lovely day. So much fun anticipating your upcoming trip and getting all the stuff beforehand accomplished. XOXO.

@Daisys and Diamonds Thanksgiving prep is a lot but it's always fun. Cooking and baking and all those yummy smells emanating from the kitchen and then having your loved ones over to enjoy all that hard work. So worth it. Maybe one day you can experience an old fashioned American Thanksgiving...one day when we resume our host/hostess role you are invited along with many of the other NIRDIs.

@Mamabean I forget your plans for Thanksgiving. Are you hosting or going to family or going out to eat? Hope you are having a lovely week. Hugs.

@AV_ how is work going? Any weekend plans? How's the weather by you? I love weather and love talking about it. It's fascinating to me for some reason lol. But our weather today is dreary and looks like a very cold and wet weekend especially for Sunday. Oh well. Hope you are enjoying better weather. XOXO.

Yesterday was a frenetic but very good day. We rode 66 miles but what we did was come back home twice for 2 different work conference calls and by the time we got home for the day it was almost dark here lol. But we got in a great ride by breaking it up due to work calls. Whatever works right? But today is rainy so going to shampoo Fred and then run errands in between Greg's work calls. So no cycling today.

Ice cream later than usual yesterday...Jimmy and Meghan said they though we weren't coming lol. But it was a mad dash as Greg had another CC at 4PM and we didn't get to ice cream til after 2PM and it is almost 2 hours away by cycling. Not to ruin the mystery but we made it. Hahaha.

We went out early AM after cleaning for the first round of cycling before CC #1 and we cycled in Sandy Hook in the AM.

Then after CC#2 we headed to Asbury Park before ice cream.
@Mamabean can you find the bike? ;-)

It was a good day overall but it was a bit exhausting. Today will be more mellow.

Oh and my redone sunglasses arrived and I think they are good. I didn't have a lot of time to evaluate them but when I first put them on I didn't want to throw up always a good sign lol. Here's a quick pic...just got home before the last CC and it was a mad dash to do all we had to do but I couldn't resist opening up the package and trying them on for a quick sec. The late light sort of washed out everything but can you tell they are blue frames? I love them.

Speaking of mad dash I am off...time to clean...have a lovely day girls.

@missy Missy, thank you for your loving thoughts and calming words. I am starting to relax more. I am marrying the love of my life and he loves me. Living room is still a disaster!!! I am going to make progress today - I've got boot city zappos, macy's and costco purchases that I'm going to go through, decide what I am keeping and then return stuff this weekend. FI is going to Macy's on Sunday to get his suit.
Ok I LOVE your sunglasses! You can wear fashion girl!!! You look beautiful =)2

Hi @Austina I'm working on it girl  I will post what I am keeping for sure! I am a binge shopper and I do this a few times a year but then I get so exhausted and confused about what I am keeping and returning and then checking the cc to make sure all is done correctly. I know everyone here can relate! I hope you're doing well. You're so sweet to gift sapphire earrings and a pendant later for Christmas - I'm sure they are beautiful :kiss2:
