Hi NIRDI’s!
Callie, thank you. I will enjoy having some dangle earrings since I usually wear studs. I always thought that would be fun to smash a bottle of champagne on a ship; it looks fun.

Jimmianne, thank you. I wore my dangles today and decided I do need to get my hair trimmed so I could maybe see them. Ha Ha. I am glad you arrived at your beloved tiny house and have such wonderful plans for the summer.

Joanne, you are on a mission to get a new garage. Very cool and good luck! I saw an X3 the other day and really liked how it looks. I had a car that I thought was snake bit and traded it in in less than 3 years. Thank you. My business card case was from Tiffany’s and a gift from my employer for being there for 20 years. The earrings were made from stuff in my jewelry box; the dangle part were jackets I bought to wear for our wedding and the lever backs used to have some garnets on them. I had a jeweler remove the baskets off the lever backs and attach the earring jackets. Not bad for $18, eh?

Missy, I am so sorry about your finger and it does look very sore. I hope it starts clearing up right away. Thank you; I like having some dangle earrings. That is not a good thing to hear your doctor say “that’s impressive”. My favorite line was “huh, I’ve never seen anything like that.” How is Francesca doing?

Junebug, oh no that your DD’s new car has dings. Marty was in Boston on business one time and his car rental got dinged somehow - the guy who checked it over when he turned it in was cool about it; said all their cars look like that. Thank you; I only had to pay $18 to have my earrings made since I had all the parts already. The Tiffany case if very pretty; made me want to get a silver key chain from Tiffany. It was nice here again today; it’s about time. It sounds like you had a fun weekend and too funny about the cookie contest. A friend of mine makes my chocolate chip cookies and they sure don’t taste like mine. I think the only difference is I use unsalted butter and she used those Crisco baking sticks. (I think that is what they are called). I am so sorry to hear Zoe is having trouble with her kidneys; I hope more water and the probiotics help her feel better.

Sandeek, I hope your treatment went okay.

Austina, sweet dreams!

AV, you are probably dreaming too - sweet dreams!

Kate, thank you. I am happy I had my dangles made. I like using something I wore to our wedding. That is too bad Chris is responsible for his deductible. The car I mentioned above that was snake bit was hit in a parking lot by a guy in a pickup; he took off and I got his license plate which I gave to the police. Sadly it was registered to someone in the county who claimed their son had it in another state. The police wouldn’t go out to their place for a hit and run in a parking lot so I had to pay my deductible. Grr. You do have nice sons; very cool. That is too bad about the Audi dealer having such poor customer service. Those kind of dealers lose our business forever too.

Have i mentioned how nice it is to type on a keyboard that works?

I met a friend of mine for lunch today and enjoyed going out in 63 degree weather again. I lifted after work then had soup for supper. I am dialing in to work for a while in about an hour then hopefully get to bed at a decent time tonight. I’ve been reading and play the “one more chapter” routine too long.

Take care.
Marcy

GM girls.

@junebug17 wonderful news about Zoe! Cit can be challenging to get cats to drink enough but sounds like you're doing everything right. Continued healing vibes to sweet Zoe and hugs to you. Thanks fir your good wishes.

@Sandeek how did last night go? Hope you are feeling well this AM. So excited for you and your DD and wish I could meet you this Saturday. You will be so close...I think I might have to become a recluse for the rest of my days sometimes. JK I think. Thank you so much for all your caring and warm support. Means so much to me. Have a good day at work and sending you buckets of healing vibes and big hugs.

@AV_thanks. I've been through worse but I am getting more concerned as the reaction is not abating. This is day 3 of steroids and there should have been some improvement. I am working on remaining positive but it's getting more challenging with each day. It's very scary looking and the surgeon wants me to bend it (3 weeks immobile) and I can't due to the swelling and discomfort. Questions pop up in my mind. Will I recover from this? Pushing back the dark thoughts. I hope to be able to celebrate with you re the title party. Bring on the champagne.

@Austina thanks for your lovely good wishes. Glad all is well with you. Hope Shirley is doing as well as possible. And hope you had sweet dreams last night.

@Mamabean thanks so much. How is the garage clearing out going? I am embarrassed with all my crazy health issues but sharing it with my friends here somehow helps me. Lightens my worries and I appreciate you guys listening and just being here with me. Sending you (((hugs))).

@Tekate thank you Kate the great. I am sorry about Chris having to pay the deductible for his car. Darn no fault insurance. That is unfair. Hoping things improve for him soon.

I am feeling scared but trying to remain hopeful. How is the little baby boy doing? So happy for your wonderful news and looking forward to more wonderful news from you. Hugs and love to you and your family. Your sons are very good men indeed. Credit due to you and your DH. You are all such wonderful people. HUGS.

@marcy thank you for your continued support and caring. Francesca is doing OK knock wood. Greg is giving her the antibiotic liquid every morning and so far the steroid shot is helping her. Praying that continues. Greg is doing everything. If it weren't for him I would give up right now. My energy is zapped. How is work going? I am so glad you love your glamorous earrings. I love them too. They look fab on you.
@Calliecake are you the proud owner of a new dark gray Mercedes?:appl: Cmon girl, spill. Don't love us hanging. The more happy news the better. And thanks for setting your alarm yesterday. You're a dear.

@Jimmianne hope you are enjoying and looking forward to upcoming events. Hoping your eczema flare quieted and sending happy thoughts and good wishes your way. And many congratulations to you and your new family. Hugs.

@canuk-gal thinking of you and hoping you are doing well. XO.

@rainwood hope you are enjoying your relaxing time away. You deserve it.

Hi to @Keeliamira and @ringo865. Hope all is going well with you ladies.

SO Greg is a genius and made me a hypoallergenic glove with a velcro closure to wear overnight because David said I had to compromise and cover it while sleeping. But I am allergic to everything except this material and it was a good solution. It's from a white cotton T shirt. He sewed this quickly yesterday so I could sleep with it and it worked well. Though my hand looks as bad if not worse than yesterday but at least I kept the med on it and away from my face and pillow and sheets.

Screen Shot 2019-03-28 at 6.42.13 AM.png

Yesterday the surgeon removed the steristrips due to David's recommendation just in case I was allergic to the actual steristrips. Such a thing would be quite odd indeed but with me you never know. No improvement however as of now. Today we are off to see David but I don't know where this is going. The topical steroids would have started working already if they were going to help. Day 3 and I am only supposed to apply for 5 days. I am worried about topical steroid withdrawal. A real thing for someone like me (hypersensitive reactions) so I hope there are alternatives. Tacrolimus and Picrolimus are immune suppressors too but I have tried those in the past for much less severe reactions with no improvement. And Eucrisa has not helped this reaction as I tried that last week on spots that had spread from beneath the bandages and then without the bandages (Monday) before I saw David Tuesday. So asking for more healing dust and prayers. Thank you.

Have a good Thursday girls! (((HUGS))).

Hi Joanne, it's at 9:30 but he runs hours behind...office just called me saying he was already an hour behind lol. And they always underestimate how much he is running behind. So most likely I won't be seen before noon. We are heading out early anyway probably in an hour or so. It's just insult upon injury. In pain and waiting in the doctor's office for so long.

I am sorry too be such a baby but I have been through many challenging experiences and this one because it is uncontrolled is scaring the you know what out of me.:cry2:

Missy..Please don’t apologize..Anyone would be upset and scared..and you’re not acting like a baby...That finger looks so painful and uncomfortable. You are probably on your way now or there but keep us posted on what he says....As bad as it looks..skin has a great capacity to heal so you will be looking at your finger later and you won’t even be able to tell it looked that bad. The good news is that your incision looks great..It looks like you have a very bad reaction to something in the bandage from where the rash is located. They’ll try different things but they will be able to figure it out..{{{{{Bear Hug}}}}}

Hello lovelies

Oh @missy, I don’t know what to say, how unfair that on top of everything else, you’re having to deal with this too. Your finger looks so sore and painful, I’m not surprised you’re upset and scared. Try and keep positive, and believe that it will get better, hopefully sooner rather than later. You know we’re all willing that for you. It doesn’t help when you get conflicting opinions from specialists. I hope you’re appt. today went well, and you get some reassurance that it’ll heal well.

Good news that Francesca is accepting her treatment, and is doing OK.

I expect you must wonder how on earth you got so lucky that you got such a priceless gem in Greg, it certainly makes all the difference having someone beside you all the way.

Continuing to send you love and positive, healing vibes. xxx

I love your ‘new’ earrings @marcy, what a great recycling project, and you can’t beat the price. That’s a lovely gift from your company, I’m glad they’ve shown some appreciation for your hard work and dedication, nice to be acknowledged.

Congratulations @Tekate, Evan is a whopper! Glad it all went well and mother and baby are safe. Don’t you just hate irresponsible and dishonest people, sorry your son has to bite the excess on his insurance policy? Not long now till Autumn arrives..

I hope you can get Zoe to eat and drink more @junebug17, it’s good that she doesn’t seem otherwise unwell, hopefully things will have improved at the next check up.

I hope you’re enjoying the peace and quiet @Jimmianne and not feeling too jetlagged.

Sounds like you’re making progress @AV_ , getting exciting to be so close to the end.

Here you go @Mamabean, a photo of the gates, we don’t think they’re quite the same as we had before, but near enough, and TBH we’re just glad it’s done!

5AFE29B8-B6F6-44CF-9533-23DAE214D348.jpeg

Glad the treatment is going well @Sandeek and that you’re taking good care of yourself.

Sending love @ringo865 , hope work is going well and you’re feeling OK.

I hope your oral surgeons and dentist have positive news for you @Calliecake, I marvel at how you ladies manage to keep going with everything you have to contend with. Are you any nearer with your car decision. Several years ago, the dealer delivered our new car, and said that there were flowers in the back for me, as the car was obviously DH’s choice. I thanked him and told him I’m sure my husband would like the flowers, as the car was most definitely my choice! Oi, talk about mysogeny!

Someone had recommended a new place to take Dottie, so we thought we’d go there yesterday. It didn’t seem that far away, so off we set, with the address programmed in to the SatNav. We knew we were close, but then were instructed we’d arrived at our destination, when we most certainly had not! We drove around, and reprogrammed the SatNav and did eventually find it. We were so disappointed because dogs were not allowed on the beach, presumably because they’d had problems with people not cleaning up after them. Dottie could see the water, but couldn’t understand why she couldn’t go in. On the way home, Colin insisted that the turn off wasn’t in fact the turn off, and yes, you’ve guessed, it was. So a few more miles out of our way before we got home. By this time, it was about 1.30pm.

I spent the afternoon cooking, and then in the evening Shirley FaceTimed, and we were talking to her for quite a while. She’s doing OK, and we talked about Bob, and trips we’d done together. After that, it was time for bed.

Weather here is lovely today, and our camelia on the drive is full of blooms.

While I was sitting in the car waiting for Colin, I was admiring Bella

Oooh Bella is looking wunderbar :kiss2::kiss2::kiss2:

Thank you sweet @Austina glad all is going smoothly by you. Everything looks just beautiful and I’m so glad Your gates are finally fixed.

My update: I just got back from dermatologist. He thinks it will get worse till it gets better but just in case he wrote for an additional antibiotic (doxycycline)if I get worse over the weekend to take in addition to the keflex. And he is changing my steroid topical due to my concerns re allergy but now he wants me to take it for an additional 4 days making the steroid application 6 days which makes me nervous. But one day at a time. Oh and he popped that huge blister. Surgeon did not want it popped but David said it had to go. My finger has so many blisters all over it but that was a monster one.

Hope everyone is enjoying a nice day. Lovely weather here. :wavey:

Omg @missy I am so sorry to hear this. And see it :eek2: You poor thing. That looks so raw and painful! Praying that you get some relief soon. Did he recommend soaking it with warm compresses or Epsom salts? Though that would hurt I imagine. I’m sorry ♥️. I am thankful though that you are being closely monitored and that they are taking the antibiotic precautions. Be well...((hugs)) I don’t think I can make it to DDs new place this weekend sad :((And it seems that neither of us are up to a get together. But we will! And I am also a hermit, so we have that in common among much else. :kiss2:

I had another disappointment today. I was hoping we could lower the infusions to once a day rather than twice a day for 60 minutes each. Well, nope, because why should it get any easier for me?! Now I have been increased to 90 minutes twice a day. Over three hours of my time! Since I am back to work again, my life continues to not be my own. For another five weeks at least. I will then probably have to deal with the c diff fully as we are just holding it off for right now.

Thanks for listening sweet NIRDIs. So frustrated. :knockout:

Love the driveway and gates and of course your beautiful ring! @Austina So elegant!

Hope you are well. @ringo865 Thinking of you.

Thank you @marcy , @junebug17 , @Jimmianne in France (do I sound fancy saying that?! =)2 ) @AV_ , , @Mamabean for the continued well wishes! I’ll Gratefully take them all. :kiss2:

@Tekate congratulations on your new grand baby! Hope you’re feeling well!

Edited to take out the whining. Sorry...

(((HUGS))) @Sandeek. I am always here for you and sending bucketloads of continued healing dust. You are such a trooper and you have every right to vent. Not complaining at all. Just stating the miserable facts. You are due a good break soon and I feel it is coming you way. Just hang in there a little longer. Praying good news is yours very soon. XOXO.

Missy, I’m hoping you are able to sleep. Greg came up with a great solution with the mit. I’m glad David told you your finger will get worse before it looks better. At least you won’t be worried and know what is expected. Have the two doctors talked about your finger with each other? It looks so so painful, I’m so sorry.

@Sandeek, I’m sorry you had a disappointment today. I didn’t realize you were already back at work. It has to be stressful dealing with this and work. Although maybe work is a great distraction? Please try to get a lot of sleep to help your body heal. I’m so sorry you are going thru this. You are so strong @Sandeek.

@junebug17 , I’m glad you heard from the vet. It’s a very good sign that the vet doesn’t want to see Zoe for three months. I had a sign of relief when you I read this. Does Zoe drink a lot of water normally? What happened to DD’s car? Did I miss something?

Tekate, What happy news for your family. They picked a great name for the little guy. How nice that Evan and Autumn will be so close in age. Is this Danny and Anne’s first child? I feel bad for Chris having to pay the deductible when he did nothing wrong. As if living in NY isn’t expensive enough for a young person.

Yay @Austina !!! The gates are finally fixed. They look beautiful from the picture. You must be happy to have this behind you. Shirley is lucky to have you in her life. I am sure you have helped her more than you know. Thank you for the picture of Bella and the flowers. She looks beautiful on you. I love your nails. I can’t wait to see flowers here.

@marcy Can you believe you are finally getting warmer weather? I have never heard the phrase snake bit. I’ll have to remember this. It’s a great phrase. I’m glad you had fun at lunch with your friend.

Mamabean, I’m not sure what part of the country you live in (I think east coast?) but dealers have had a rough few months around here (Chicago) due to the weather. We were amazed we were the only customers on a Saturday afternoon at one of the dealers. It sounds like you know exactly what you are looking for as far as what you need. Do you a preference on what brand you want? There are lots of beautiful cars out there.

Do you have a title @av??? I hope you are doing well.

I hope you are doing well @Ringo.

Hi NIRDI’s!

Missy, I continue to send healing dust your way. I so understand how your energy is zapped and you are so worried. Hang in there and bug those doctors whenever you have questions or concerns. I know Greg is taking good care of you. I am glad to hear Francesca is doing okay, taking her steroids and the shot is helping. Good news. Work was actually unbelievable today; I need to find a job where I don’t have to deal with people. Or win the lottery. Your bedtime mitt is pure genius; great way to keep it protected at night. Your finger definitely looks very so painful. I feel so bad for you. As Joanne said - the incision itself looks good. I hope popping that big blister helped the pain. Glad you got some more antibiotics and topical cream to try.

Joanne, how are you doing today?

Austina, thank you - I wore my dangles again today. I do think it’s nice of my company to give such a thoughtful gift for a 20 year anniversary. My 10 year anniversary was a Tiffany clock. Your gates look great. You got some bonus miles yesterday because of your nav system; we’ve had them send us to some strange places before. How sad Dottie couldn’t get in that water though. But Mom, I want to!! Your camelia is beautiful as is gorgeous Bella.

Sandeek, I am so sorry you have to continue 2 infusions today and now expanded times. Big hugs to you. You aren’t whining; feel free to let us hear about what is going on with you.

Callie, I did totally enjoy our few days of warmer weather but they were only visiting. I regretted wearing only a jacket today when I put gas in my car at about 7. It was chilly then. We are getting rain tonight and turning in to snow tomorrow. Phooey. Snake bit is a good phrase and I swear if that car was nothing but bad luck. I bent the inside of a wheel when I got it stuck in a snow drift that was over a high cement block, I had to replace all of the tires because they kept getting nails in them from all the construction around us, then the guy backed in to me at Walgreens and took off and the last straw was the day we were moving my mom to hospice it was side swiped on the street. I traded it a month later.

I got my glamour shots from Whiteflash today. It looks gorgeous. It should be at FedEx by 3 pm tomorrow so hopefully I can get Marty to pick it up for me. I am anxious to see it.
I met a friend for supper tonight; she and I worked together at my last job for about 15 years so we keep in touch. Marty’s plane was delayed an hour so he’ll get home really late now. Our credit card was suspended until they confirmed some suspicious charges. I had notified them online that Marty would be in LA. I guess it’s nice they watch the charges so closely but it’s kind of a pain. We’d added his cell phone for notices but I got the email before he got the text alert.

Take care.

They are beautiful Marcy! Funny that the WF lady has your name. Looking forward to your pics. Have a great weekend.
Thank you @Calliecake for thinking of me. Work is a distraction for sure. The kids keep me on my feet and on my game. They need continuity too, so it helps us all. I just wish I wasn’t having to spend more than three hours tied to a IV bag. :(sad
@missy I hope you we’re able to sleep. Thinking about you this am and hoping you had some improvement over night! ((Hugs))

GM girls!

@marcy ooh looks so beautiful and I cannot wait for you to pick it up today. Cmon Marty don't disappoint the NIRDIs...we are counting on you. And yes Marcy I agree... we need to win the lottery so you can do whatever you want with your days. Working with people sort of blows. Unless you are working with really nice people. I miss my patient population as they were the tops. I think @Sandeek works with a similar great bunch of kids. So I can understand why she loves her job. It's rewarding work which makes the challenges worth it. Anyway I cannot wait to see your new pretty bling. You are doing well. Lovely new dangles and now this. Sweet. And what's even sweeter is TGIF today woohoo.

@Sandeek hope today is a good day and sorry you have to wake even earlier to do the longer infusion. Draining to say the least but hopefully putting you on the path of full recovery and better days. You've already made it through the toughest part and now you will really start feeling much better. (((Hugs))).
And good things coming for your family. For your DD and DS. Lots to look forward to and lots of happy healthy days ahead!

@Mamabean are you finished with your garage cleanup? Hope you have plans for a fun weekend.

@Calliecake I might have missed it but did you get your new gray Mercedes yet?

Thanks for all your good wishes girls. I truly appreciate all your comforting words and support.

Little bit of a vent ahead...please skip if you're not in the mood.
I don't think the doctors know the path this is going to take so no I don't feel better emotionally and certainly not physically. It's very uncomfortable and looks horrible and I cannot bend it. Each day I wake praying it will show some improvement and each day none or even a little bit worse. When it looks like this it's hard to tell if it's worse or the same. It's pretty horrific. And David only said it might get worse when we went in yesterday (Thursday) but on Tuesday he did not mention that and said in fact it should get better but it didn't which is why I don't have much confidence in any of my doctors right now.

To make matters more confusing the surgeon and David are not on the same exact page either. I am taking things hour by hour but let me tell you this is tougher than you might even think. And you know how terrified I am of steroids and now I am applying super strong steroids praying I don't experience terrible side effects and rebound. The steroid is not even touching this reaction...day 4 of steroid application and it should have helped somewhat. I do not know what to do anymore. Blindly follow the doctors who seem unsure and perhaps open myself to worse complications...ever hear of TSW? That is one of my greatest fears. My friend has that and it is pure hell. Blistering all over her body for years from just a little bit of topical steroid use. Not the most common reaction but let's face it I have those uncommon reactions even the doctors say that. And TSW is by far the worse reaction you can imagine and I am not exaggerating.:(

Oh and the big blister he popped came back...almost right after. :/

OK vent over and done. It's a beautiful mild Friday I think and hoping to get out and take a walk with Greg today. He washed my hair yesterday afternoon and made me another mitt to sleep with so I could have a fresh one. He's an excellent husband and I hope soon I can give him a break and be able to do these things for myself. I am still relying on him since I cannot use that hand especially with steroid all over it.

Have a lovely day ladies!:wavey:

Leaving you with a lovely scene from my BIL's vacation. One of my nieces is attending school near here and they are visiting. Ahhh so peaceful and beautiful.

Hi everyone, popping in to catch up.

@missy does the infection/redness/blistering follow the pattern of the adhesive put on your finger? I know this has caused your psoriasis to go into full blown overdrive, I know it's darn scary, and painful, I have been takinig doxy for over 6 months with little reaction except stomach naursea and pain a bit, they say to take on an empty stomach, forget that, I have to eat or it makes me sick. I'm sure @Sandeek can agree if she took this in her quest for freedom from osteomyelitis. It's just so scary I know.. I so hold you in my heart and I guess they are saying it's going to get worse b4 better.. I'm so sorry sweet girl.. :( ((Missy)) I'm here.

So happy to read that your furbaby is doing better, that's a relief anyway.

Just take care of yourself.

@Austina the gate looks awesome! the flowers are beautiful.. not much happening here yet, still some snow left. Glad you were able to chat with Shirley... I find that google maps sends me round and round at times, sorry about your Nav unit. and BELLA! so perfect.... :) I started

@callie did you decide on the car? I started writing this last night and am back now at 7:34 a.m. so you may have updated. As to the living int the CITY, yup, it's crazy how expensive it is.. One of the weirdest things is so many businesses want CASH! CASH? what? John and I haven't used cash in a month of Sundays! and there are ATMs all over Williamsburg, I mean in restaurants, deli's, on th street every block, I HATE using any ATM because even tho I check for a front where bad people have placed a fake one, they can also be within range with cameras etc, Chris is a millenial and as such ATMs have been his life, not me and John we use CCards. ugh. Chris has been in DC again for classes on BANKING stuff I guess, coming home today. Hope you have a great weekend Callie girl. xoxoxoxo..

@marcy you can make cookie for me anytime! my favorite always is chocolate chip. Lifting, you are cooler than cool and I admire this so much. Me? with my shoulder gone I'd pretty conk myself and die!.. Glad you are having better weather girl! xoxox

@AV_ must be lunch time for you now, hope you are enjoying the weather and preparing for spring... it's Friday, enjoy the weekend ! xoxoxo

@Sandeek jeeze Sandeek, 2 infusions and being back at work? I am sorry, I will be in touch girl.. I hope you are feeling okay. You are my hero. Have a good weekend sweetie, I send you love.

@Mamabean sending you good vibes and love for the weekend girl.

@ringo865 hope you are feeling good and are continuing to experience little results from your treatment. sending good juju to you for sure girl. Hope you have a good weekend! xoxo

@Keeliamira hi and hope all is well :wavey::wavey:

Update on Evan: Evan is still in the hospital. It turns out he was born with a very high glucose rate and the glucose has been fluctuating and also he had a high fever and therefore he is in the NICU (neo natal intensive care unit) Danny called me yesterday he was so SAD, I tried to perk him up and say it's not unusual for a baby to spike a fever. Evan is on intravenous antibiotcs at this time, he may be able to come home this afternoon (was supposed to come home this morning). With the fever and high glucose he has something (infection) going on, his white count is very high also, all pointing to some sort of infection, but Drs at NYU said his high white count wasn't the really bad part of the white blood cells (esonphills? I dunno which) so he's in no jeopardy. Scary time for sure. So I've been glued to my phone basically since Danny called yesterday.

Autumn's room is finished! Cara sent me a pix.

I'll be back later today I hope to continue this as I've not read as much as I should have.

Sending love and healing to @missy @Calliecake @Sandeek @ringo865 and the us oldsters who have arthrities.

@Jimmianne sending a big HOLA across the ocean.. hope you are enoying the French weather and food and wine ;-) xoxoxoxo

Sending buckets of healing dust to dear Evan and lots of love to you @Tekate sweet Kate the great. Praying the infection resolves soon and his fever and glucose come down and he can go home today.

Thank you sweetheart. No it's more a diffuse swelling and redness and my finger has like a hundred blisters over it. Weird. It's so swollen and red and blistery.

@missy Missy I don't want to create more stress for you but have they considered Stevens-Johnson Syndrome? https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/stevens-johnson-syndrome/symptoms-causes/syc-20355936

I, like you, and probably @Sandeek have some faith in our physicians but total? not anymore, I mean how the hell did my oral surgeon get me to this place of infection? Yeah I know he went to Harvard medical school, the guy is tops etc, but something was missed.

I don't want to alarm you but it was a passing thought to me when I looked at your finger about SJS, I would like to think your docs have thought of this too.

Your brother in law looks happy (or rather his feet do ) what a view.. just made me mellower looking at that photo.

Back to you. GREG - he's the best - send him my love, and together you are a formidable team and I am happy for that.

Missy, LOVE YOU and am SO SORRY and wish I could wave my wand (witches wand ;-) good witch) and take this away, and I SO understand why this is scary scary for you.

you are in my heart.

(thanks for your as always kind words about Evan, Danny is a mess but I believe all will be fine) xoxoxo

Thanks @Tekate for brainstorming for me but I don't think so...I hope not. David feels confident it's a severe contact dermatitis and it is localized to my finger and a bit of the surrounding fingers. Stevens-Johnson syndrome sucks big time but hopefully I don't have to add that to my list of concerns....though I now wonder about the Keflex as that is the only new med that was introduced before I got this reaction. ::)

Yes I think Evan is going to be just fine but still so scary for his mom and dad and all who love him. Continued healing vibes and much love being sent his way. XOXO.

Surgeon called me just now asking how the finger looks and also wanted more photos texted. He then called back saying it looks like the blisters got worse like a second degree burn where the skin layers are separating. But that it does not look infected but to continue with the antibiotic treatment. He is very nice and apologized like three times for what happened. And he wants me to move the finger lol (can't mess up the surgical results haha). Anyway seeing him Monday and just praying this skin reaction resolves. No one knows how long this will take to resolve though.

Do y'all want to see the new photos I just took? OK warning to skip if squeamish...

Good morning Lovely NIRDI ladies hope everyone is well.

Missy sorry to barge in here with my two cents, first of all I am truly sorry you are going through this and it's stressing you, but this too shall pass my dear. I am no doctor this is just a thought but can this infection be a fungal one? Therefore the steroids are not helping because you need a cream such as Loprox Ciclopirox Olamine cream? I am thinking in this direction because you said your hand was sweaty in that contraption .Did they do a skin scraping to see what kind of infection it is?
Keeping you in my thoughts and hope this will all resolve very soon. Hang in there girl you're a though cookie

Hello lovelies

Good grief, that looks awful @missy , I’m so sorry you’re dealing with all this, absolutely the last thing you need. On the plus side, your surgery wound looks clean and healing, and if there’s no infection, that’s got to be a plus. I understand how worrying this is, the uncertainty of how long it’s going to take to heal, just overwhelming. Try and keep positive and believe it’ll get better.

Sending good thoughts to little Evan, it’s amazing how quickly things can change with babies @Tekate. Hopefully he’ll be home soon, and his parents can stop worrying and enjoy him.

Your pendant is lovely @marcy, I bet you can’t wait to be wearing it. I didn’t know your name is Marcella, that’s so pretty, and unusual, I’d always assumed your name is Marcia. Maybe we should start a NIRDI syndicate and do the lottery, just think of all the bling we could buy if we won the Mega millions

I’m sorry your treatment is so tough @Sandeek , how you’re coping with it and working is just amazing.

Thank you for your kind words @Calliecake I always try to be the best friend I can, and I felt reassured talking to Shirley that she is doing the best she can at the moment.

It’s a glorious day here, we took Dottie to the meadows today, and it was actually really warm.

Big wave out to all the lovely NIRDIS, TGIF :appl:

@Austina thank you for your kind words on Evan, I am sure he's gonna be fine.. there's always that teeny worry in the back of one's mind that my BIL has amplified 10000000x and my nephew can barely think, Anne I've not talked to (good) :) ) I agree with you about @missy's wound and not being infected, but brother doesn't that seem to be one hell of a reaction? You have a wonderful weekend Austina!

@missy egad! did they suggest https://www.rxlist.com/silvadene-drug.htm#side_effects
I dunno, I wish something other than wait and see and heal would be ocurring. I know your docs are the best in the country but sometimes one hand doesn't know what the other is doing.. I like Austina am very happy to see the surgical wound is healing nicely and not visible infection but jeez.. so so sorry.

@marcy your pendant is delicious and beautiful.. I love Whiteflash they are great people.. can't wait to see it on YOU!

Hi NIRDI’s!

Sandeek, I am glad work is a distraction for you; and I am so glad the kids keep everyone on their toes. I am sure that helps. Keeping you in my thoughts. Thank you for the compliments on my pendant.

Missy, your finger looks so sore; I hope it is better tonight. How frustrating the doctors don’t agree and I think the blisters look like burns too. That is nice your surgeon checked on you and I still think the incision looks good. I so agree who you work with can make a big difference in job satisfaction. That is why I loved teaching; that was never work. I got to talk about astronomy and met so many wonderful people. I think that’s smart to use a new mitt every night; good plan. Your BIL is enjoying life for sure. Pretty view.

Kate, I’m with you on snow still on the ground. It’s snowing again right now. I am real paranoid about fake card readers; when I get gas now I kind of flick on it to see if it moves. I usually get cash for restaurants. Chocolate chip cookies are my favorite too. I was going to make them while Marty was gone but never got around to it. They do sound great though. I am worried about hitting myself with one of those bars when I lift. I am being careful. Sending good thoughts and get better dust to Evan; poor little guy. Thank you for the kind words on my pendant. I am pleased and do like working with Whiteflash.

Hi Cluless.

Austina, most of my family calls me Marcella, I don’t mind either way. I should start using it again to confuse people. Ha Ha. We could buy a lot of bling if we’d win the mega million lottery. Thank you for the compliments on my pendant. I like it. Glad to hear you had a nice warm day and took Dottie out.

I checked my FedEx tracking number before 11 and saw my pendant was ready to pick up so off I went. I was all excited and ripped my box open when I got back in my car but since I didn’t order a chain with it I left the pendant in my box because it was shoved down in the ring slot in the box. Phooey. I got back to work and pulled it out there. one of my bears at work has a chain so I used it to at least see it for awhile.
Marty has a cold and tweaked a few muscles. He napped most of the day.
Here are a few pictures of my pendant.

Have a great weekend.

It’s beautiful @marcy I love the fluidity of the metalwork and of course the stone is fabulous. I looks beautiful on you (and Bear). Wear it in much happiness! Snow?! Stop it! Omg. Stay warm!

@missy I cannot believe how painful that finger looks. Know that I’m a sending you tons of warm wishes and support. I hope tonight is your night to show improvement! ♥️ ((Hugs))

Aww thank you @Austina I certainly do not feel amazing. In fact, I feel defective. It truly robs the soul of peace when you’re dealing with a chronic health problem. But I put on my happy face =)2 and walk into my class every day. Albeit tired and cranky inside. But thank you for thinking I am amazing. I am just getting by.

@Tekate I feel you about having faith in our doctors. Many many times I get angry thinking of how a lost filling turned into this year-long nightmare. I know you understand. I just wish we had connected earlier and that I knew more then. I would’ve insisted trying IV antibiotics then, before the initial removal. I am three surgeries in, have had two picc lines and the six weeks of daily two hour hyperbaric chamber treatments. Even I can’t believe how I’ve done it. Please take good care of yourself. And enjoy being a new grandma! Is it as awesome as they say?

Good night NIRDIs ♥️:kiss2:

@missy, omg, I'm so sorry your finger has gotten worse! You have had a difficult month and it's just terrible that you now have this added skin issue. It does look very painful and uncomfortable. I'm sending lots of healing dust your way and I'm really hoping things will start turning around for you very soon. Greg's cover for your hand is such a great idea. I'm happy that Francesca is doing better, that's fantastic news :appl: I hope you can relax and try to enjoy your weekend with Greg. (((HUGS)))

Love the pic of your BIL on vacation, now that's relaxation!

@Sandeek, how disappointing that your infusion times have increased, I'm sorry! I can totally understand why you'd be feeling discouraged and down, and I'm sending lots of comfort and support to you. Please try to hang in there, and try to rest too...dealing with these treatments and working at the same time is not easy. XXX

@Austina, the gates look great! You must feel so relieved they're finally done. Shirley is lucky to have such a kind and caring friend as you, and I'm sure your conversation was so comforting to her. Aw, it's a shame Dottie couldn't go near the water, poor thing. I'm glad she got to go to the meadows! Your camelia is just beautiful...and Bella looks absolutely divine on your hand! What a gorgeous ring, you must be so happy every time you put her on your finger!

@marcy, ds and his coworker followed the same recipe and it's interesting that the cookies turned out differently. I realize this sounds very biased but dh, dd, and I thought ds's cookies were better (ds brought a few of his coworkers home), although hers were pretty good too lol. Yeah, dd lives in a very congested and busy place and so her car is just so prone to things banging into it :cry2: So nice you had dinner with an old friend. I'm sorry work drove you crazy this week and I hope you and Marty have a nice weekend.

ETA - Just saw the pics of your new pendant - it's gorgeous!!!:love::love: The diamond is stunning and the setting has a lot of presence - it looks fantastic on you! Love the whole look, so glad you went with this diamond and setting. I had to laugh when I read you tore open the box - I've done the same exact thing! Getting new bling is so much fun. Have a wonderful time wearing it this weekend

And I hope Marty is feeling better soon...I had a nasty cold a few weeks ago so I can sympathize!

@Calliecake, thanks for your kindness about Zoe! She unfortunately doesn't drink much water, although will go through periods when she does. The vet told me to add some water to her wet food and that has been working well. I looked online and found some other things I can try. DD's car has gotten some random scratches and small dents from living in a city and she's so upset - she's going to look into getting them fixed.

@Tekate, I'm so sorry little Evan is having some health issues and I hope he recovers very soon. My heart goes out to his parents, so stressful and scary for them :cry2: Sending you comforting thoughts and hugs too, I know this has been hard on you too.

Thank you everyone for your sweet words about Zoe...she seems to be feeling ok, she's eating well though I wish she would drink more... I'm trying but it's really hard to get a cat to do things lol. At least she loves her probiotic :kiss2: Dh and I are in SC right now...we drove here today in his old car and will keep it here...I'm flying home next week, and he's staying for a golf outing and then will go on a business trip from here. Wasn't sure whether to bring Zoe or keep her home and have ds take care of her...decided to bring her with us because she'd be by herself a lot due to ds's work schedule.

Take care everyone, sending love to all!

Happy Caturday Saturday girls!

@junebug17 thanks. Yes I am sorry to be such a sad sack downer these days but I have to agree enough is enough. This is scary and might be continuing for months. It is that difficult to treat and also rare with little in the literature on it. A friend sent me info on a case study that mimics my experience that I will share with you at the end of this post if you are interested. Hugs to Zoe and I hope she is doing well and eating and drinking enough. Hope you have a lovely weekend. Enjoy SC and your gorgeous beach home!

@Sandeek hope you had a good night and a good infusion and are feeling strong. Hope your DD loves her new home and new neighborhood and we are here for her. Please know that and never hesitate to call on us. XOXO.

@Tekate thanks for your help in brainstorming. I will share a link below. How's Evan doing? Thinking of you and your family and keeping good thoughts for all of you. (((Hugs))).

@marcy awesome bling and looks so beautiful on you. LOVE. I cannot believe it's snowing again by you. Oy. Stay warm and cozy. Hope you have a good Saturday.

@Austina hope you are enjoying a lovely day and so pleased for you that everything is taken care of. Enjoy your warm weather.

@Calliecake honey I am sorry for your disappointment with the car and I promise you your dream car is out there. Hang in there. That Mercedes Coupe was not meant to be.

@Jimmianne congrats! Hope everyone is having the most marvelous and happy celebration.

@AV_ hope you had a good week and are enjoying a nice weekend.

@Mamabean hope you finished the garage project and are enjoying some much deserved R&R.

Good morning Lovely NIRDI ladies hope everyone is well.

Missy sorry to barge in here with my two cents, first of all I am truly sorry you are going through this and it's stressing you, but this too shall pass my dear. Thanks for chiming in @Cluless. You are always welcome here just so you know and no apologies necessary. We are pretty sure it is allergic contact dermatitis though surely it could also be an additional issue ie fungus and I will ask my derm on Tuesday when I see him again. I will add a link at the end of this post outlining my condition.

This is what happened to me. Thanks to an IG friend who researched and found this info. Rare case study. It's going to be a long road for me I think but I pray I will recover. My body does not always cooperate with me so I am concerned but hoping for the best.

I cannot get the whole article sadly but here is the abstract. Wish I could get the photos included in the article. Anyway this is basically what I experienced only difference is my surgery was on the finger not the toe.

Liquid Adhesive Contact Dermatitis After Bunionectomy: A Case Report and Literature Review.
Hood CR Jr1, Cornell RS2, Greenfield B2.
Author information

Abstract
Hypersensitivity reactions to the skin adherents used in postoperative dressings are an uncommon but unfavorable complication that can result in poor wound healing, increased scarring, and surgical wound infections. This unexpected and unforeseen complication is not well documented in the current published data. We present the case of a 39-year-old female who had undergone a bunionectomy procedure and developed allergic contact dermatitis postoperatively. We discuss the clinical findings and treatments administered after application of a commonly used liquid skin adhesive applied intraoperatively. Through the use of topical and oral steroids and foot soaks in astringent solutions, over the course of several months, the patient's skin returned to the expected postoperative appearance. With the increased consciousness to minimize surgical scarring to improve cosmesis, one of these causes of the reaction might have been the liquid adhesive used in the surgical closure and dressing application. Therefore, we additionally reviewed the adhesive compound's chemical makeup and any potential cross-reactivity to help surgeons make an informed decision of whether to use a liquid adhesive. The various ingredients in liquid adhesives contain known allergen compounds that can cause a reaction, such as balsam of Peru and colophony or rosin, both of which are reviewed in our report. We also present a treatment algorithm developed from the compiled data in the case of a patient developing an allergic reaction. From our literature review and considering the percentage of incidence, if a surgeon desires to use a liquid adhesive product, Mastisol(®) should be chosen because of its lower reactivity and greater adhesive properties compared with the compound tincture of benzoin.

Have a glorious day ladies. We enjoyed a nice long walk yesterday due to the mild weather and now I am leaving you with a fresh spring photo from yesterday afternoon.

Hello lovelies

Wow @marcy, your pendant is just stunning, it looks so good on you  It was such a great choice. Ugh to snow, it’s practically summer here today, so warm and sunny.

You ARE amazing @Sandeek, I can’t believe how you’re coping with all this.

Have a lovely time in SC @junebug17, hope you’re enjoying good weather and that Zoe is doing well.

Hope Evan went home yesterday, and his parents are feeling reassured that all is well @Tekate. No one prepares you for parenthood, it’s on the job training

Interesting article @missy, and I hope it gives you some reassurance that it WILL heal, even though it sounds like it could take time. Keep the faith that you’ll get through this, although your trials are definitely more plentiful than they should be. I wish there was something I could do to help, I hate to see you suffering like this :(2

Thank you for the beautiful flower photos, they’re certainly cheery.

No plans for us this weekend, just the usual.

Big love to all the glorious NIRDIS, keep strong :wavey:

Hi ladies! Since we last spoke, life got really crazy with work and life. And noooo, I still haven’t made the cookies yet...we have to be home long enough to bake, clean and actually eat them. ;)2 There have been a lot of unexpected things at work and I’m covering 3 roles right now...

I just happened to buzz in to see what you all were doing and saw you finger, Missy. I recognized it right away since it’s happened to me twice!! My situation came about the first time when an ER applied neosporene (which I’d never been allergic too) while I was given an another medicine with a known allergy to (I wasn’t able to tell them.). At that time, no one knew what had caused the severe reaction. Apparently my body over-reacted and developed a new allergy to the topical. The second time was during another procedure and I didn’t know at that time to tell them not to use neosporin types. After the second time, we got suspicious and eventually tested the neosporin on a tiny cut. Confirmed!

Each time, it was the most torturous time. No relief to be found anywhere. Those episodes also resulted in slower healing times. It lasted about a week each time before resolving. Nothing I was given made a substantial difference (which I can’t remember now anyway.)

So, anyway, i just wanted to let you know that this looks really familiar to me and to maybe give you some hope that David is right about the reaction. Most importantly, give a giant hug because I know this is this is a horrible thing to slog through. Hope it turns around soon!
