I had the pleasure of purchasing this adorable jewel from @2Neezers who scored it at a very good price online and passed along her good fortune through a post on the pre-loved page. (Thank you so so much @2Neezers !) https://www.pricescope.com/communit...th-ags-0-diamond-feelers.250462/#post-4588022
I have for a long time loved VC pieces, their aesthetic, the San Francisco history! I believe seeing these rings decades ago was my first exposure to craving a piece of jewelry!! And, the setting also came set with an AGS0 H color almost 1/2 carat diamond that just sparkles like crazy! I used to spend a lot of time in SF, so I will enjoy having this piece of jewelry history, even though it isn’t very old
I really wanted an alternative to my 2.66 ct CBI for travel and other times when a bigger diamond is not appropriate. This is just the perfect solution!
The ring was very small (for me) so I decided to reach out to Emerson and Farrar, the California jeweler who purchased Van Craeynest about re-sizing.
The ring had to be sized from 5.25 to 9.25!
The price was not unreasonable for resizing a die struck jewel that much, but about double what my local jeweler would probably have quote for a similar resizing of a normal cast ring. So I sent it off to them and received it back within 10 days!
My experience working with them for this was easy and their bench did a perfect job! Paul was so polite to communicate with as well. For anyone with a die struck jewel that needs work or re-sizing I would recommend them easily!
Here are some pictures! Enjoy!
(Edited to add E&F authenticated the setting as well, which was very kind of them!)
