Every time I google diamond related questions I always end up here at pricescope. Finally got registered, and here I am with more questions. Hope to learn a great deal from the pros here.

I am searching for a 1.03 ct or great with a budget of 4500 that is including the cost of setting. This will be my first big buy (starting a diamond collection for my baby girl:). So I got a lot to learn. I found two diamonds I liked.

Here is the link to diamond # 1.

diamond # 2

Which one would you recommend? Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

Does Diamond # 2 look lower than a J to anyone? The vendor told me it has a brown tone. Will the brown tint be obvious face up? Also, are these considered eye clean? Vendor told me they are but I would like a second opinion.

FYI, price of the second diamond is $3812

Many vendors view diamonds from 6~12 inches to determine eye-cleanliness, which is not how I determine eye-cleanliness of a diamond. The diamonds may or may not be eye-clean depending on YOUR definition.

A well cut J will appear white face up. I have access to a J and a E

In person, the difference is slightly more obvious than in GOG's video.

You need the IS image to determine the light performance, especially #2.
Regarding #1 from JA, it also appears to have a brownish tint, and it is rather deep for a J, almost K color.

When you say "my baby girl" do you literally mean a little girl or are you talking your girlfriend? What kind of setting are you
looking for?

my daughter ...hehehe. I plan to start a collection so I can give them to her when she is old enough. Of course mama is going to wear them for now. I want a solitaire setting. nothing fancy or expensive. By the time she is all grown up, the style will probably be different. I will probably have to reset them anyways.

Thank you flyingpig for pointing it out. I agree #1 diamond also have a brown tint. I figure if I am okay with #1 color then K will probably be okay too. So this morning Jay from James Allen helped me selected the following diamonds. FYI, Jay was super knowledgable and helpful.

I haven't looked at the diamonds, but I just wanted to chime in on the color...

I am good with J, esp around the size you're looking for. However, I can notice a definite tint in a K. Just something to think about. :halo:

great size and price but not sure if it is eye clean. can someone confirm wether it is eye clean? Thanks a bunch.

That's got a big chunk of carbon on the table. Call JA and ask if it's going to be eye-clean. It would not be eye-clean enough
for me. For inclusions that are harder to see look for twining wisp or small clouds.

Edit...clarity looks nicer on this...still a K though

This is an I but it has feather's which may affect its durability. You would need to talk to JA about it and see what they say.

For your budget, I like these two:

HCA 1.3, 60/60 stone with nice spread, great color (I), and eye clean... $4470

HCA 1.8, another 60/60 stone, J with fluoro, and looks to be eye clean... $4100

Unfortunately, I couldn't find any nice SI's that looked eye clean and had nice cuts...
