Run it thru the HCA and see how it scores.

It says 2.4 very good on all, but I'm not sure what that means in terms of value. This is all very new to me, and I'm just trying to figure it out. Thanks.

Can anyone help me out? I would really appreciate it. There are so many people with so much knowledge on these forums, and I would be grateful for any assistance. One thing that did concern me about this diamond was in the clarity section, the fact that it showed a cavity. I was just wondering how concerned I should be about that.

Under 2 is recommended if your vendor doesn't have an idealscope to provide you with images that show leakage/obstruction issues. If your vendor can take an idealscope image, then 2.4 is fine. Under 3 with an idealscope image is actually okay (under 2.5 preferred still though).

It's a 60/60 stone. Which means that it is not a tolkowsky ideal cut. So that means that there is a higher risk of leakage issues.

which is why we really recommend idealscope images for all these stones. But particularly those over 2 on the HCA. So I would not buy this one without an idealscope image. But would buy it with one.

Thank you all so very much. Thanks for the link, I will start reading.

If it is an SI2. You will want to be especially careful about the stone being eyeclean to your personal definition, and also that there are no feathers that break the surface or any other inclusions that bear a risk to safety.

Thanks so much Gypsy, I appreciate all of your help, I really do. I never realized this is all so complicated and confusing. I just want to make sure we get the best value for our money because this diamond is very expensive. When we saw the diamond it looked amazing, incredible sparkle, the light reflected beautifully but I have to say I didn't really look very closely for anything I could see with the eye. Let's just say that nothing jumped out at me when I looked at it. I realize now I should have looked more closely than I did. I really didn't realize there were forums with people who have so much knowledge and I should have done more research than I did. We did purchase the diamond and it is now with Mark Schneider being set into one of his rings. I'm sure it won't be a problem if we decide to change diamonds. Once again, thanks for all of your help!
