Hi everyone,
I'd love to hear your thoughts on these 2 diamonds. Both are GIA graded VVS2 with Ideal cut (from James Allen "True Hearts" collection).
I'm wondering if there's much difference between H and I color. Is the warmth in I significantly visible?
They have about the same price, is it worth it to go down in color to get a little bit more in size?
Thank you so much in advance!

If all things are equal, although I am reasonably good with colours, I know I personally am unlikely to be able to tell one colour grade apart even if they are placed side by side.

However I am not an expert, just an ordinary consumer.

DK :))

Depending on how it is set you will likely notice tint from the side in an I. I just upgraded to a G because it bothered me but as you can see from the avatar the pavillion was very exposed and I mostly looked at my diamond from the side.

Thank you, I'm having a 0.3ct HSI on a solitaire setting and personally don't see any warmth, just wondering if with a bigger size the yellowish color would be more visible =)

Thank you, I want to set it on a classic Tiffany-like 6-prong setting which is less exposed than your setting I guess =)

I went from a one carat H to a 1.7 carat I and I do not notice a tint or color at all. I am not color sensitive though. Mine is set in a platinum cathedral setting so I do see the sides and still have not noticed any color. HTH!

I was recently deciding between an H and an “i” diamond. The “i” was bigger and it faced up very close to the H. There was a very significant increase in body color...but mine will be mounted in a 6 prong setting so I don’t anticipate spending a lot of time looking from the side. Here are my posts which show head to head color difference from various angles...I think this will be helpful for you.

I start to see a tint in an I color. Before I recommend you going one way or another, I would need to see videos of both stones, their asets, and close up pics. I prefer cut over color. You can have a D, if the stone is badly cut, it will mean nothing.

My own "mind clean" colour is G/H, and my mum's diamonds are of those grades.

On their own, they are very white to me.

However, I can see a difference when they are next to my large EC which is an E.

generally the bigger the stone, the more obvious the color is. in your case, it's 1 carat and i dont think it'd be noticeable. but it also depends on how sensitive you are to colors, for me, i can see the slight tint in an I color compared to a g or h. you can ask for a side by side comp to see them yourself to see if you notice a tint. good luck

Thank you, here are the links of the 2 stones:

I can’t find the H color anymore maybe it was sold :(
Here’s another H stone I’m also eyeing:

So far I like the H stone better. Do you have a report for the new H stone?

Personally- and I'm just a regular customer- while I see warmth in stones (I'm a hairstylist and my tone vision is developed from experience doing color) it doesn't bother me. I like warmth in diamonds and am almost always willing to save a little money in the color category. I have both my K stones on today. I have everything from G to K now and love them all. My ex husband bought me two stones that were D and E but color isn't as important to me. Cut on the other hand as they say is king. It just depends on how color sensitive you are i suppose.
