My stones and projects

Here are pics of mine (reluctantly as not trying to threadjack). The color differences seem more pronounced irl.20220807_124825.jpg20220807_124615.jpg20220807_124517.jpg

I have seen alexandrite with the same color change. Lovely stone and ring.

Just love this! For all of the bypass rings I've seen, I can not recall ever seeing a "tonal" one like this instead of the usual same-stone-in-different-cut (think: diamond) or starkly contrasting (e.g. diamond + sapphire). Such a brilliant design -- especially for a first effort!

Thank you! And I have to say again your dragonfly ring is so so beautiful.
I couldn’t get it out of my head that these two belong together, hence the first project. I think I will try the stark contrast style in the future.

This is gorgeous and the shift is very obvious. What a fun stone!
P.S. I enthusiastically welcome beautiful pics in my thread.

I’m at the stage where I constantly want to look through listings and want to buy everything (which of course I sadly can’t). I will have to slow down soon but for now I got new pretties:

1. Yellow chrysoberyl: it’s a light gold with a tiny bit of brown/green, sparkles like crazy:D
2. Blue zircon: I plan to make it into a pendant with moissanite.
3. Spinel bracelet set: I got these in the hope that I will not be tempted by too many stones, I will just tell myself you already have this color.

Here’s more angles, hope that helps!

It's so soooo pretty! And I see it's the universal favourite with a lot of us here. :D Whoever designed and made this ring did a marvelous job, indeed. Thanks for showing the side profile as well, I'm a big fan of rings that lay low to the finger. The higher it is, the less practical, and in addition to that I usually dislike the way some settings protrude upwards.

This is just *chef's kiss*, so lovely.

Thank you Avondale! And I like low crown too. The only qualm I had with this ring is that due to the design the ring is thinner than usual on the side, and so less comfortable - only relatively though. I had the jeweler round out the edges a bit more and it was better.

Umm… that stage doesn’t always end soon… :roll2::oops2:o_O

A big welcome to you and look forward to seeing many more of your beautiful blings. =)2

Thank you Icy! And I guess you are right, because I have more arriving tomorrow…

I received the green sapphire YG ring! And I love it! It’s the most comfortable one and I love the simple style.

Love this, love all your stuff. You choose colors that I'm drawn to.
May I ask who did this ring for you? I had Daniel M do a similar one for me, and this style is so wearable.

Thank you! It’s a local jeweler, we are likely not in the same country though…I heard so many good things about Daniel M on PS, wish international was not so hard.

Second... such a lovely collection!! Thank you for sharing. I must say, it was quite clever of you to set a traditional tsav with its mint sister in a toi et moi. I'm not sure I've ever seen the pairing before. LOOOVE!

Thanks for the welcome! I am really happy about the color combination as well:)

First parti-sapphire. I find it really hard to photograph, due to it turning dark in some lights. Perhaps not the best parti out there, but I do think it’s charming in its own way, even when it’s dark there’s a metallic feel to it.

These are lovely! Love the parti and the green.

Loving that heart pendant! It's quite regal. :) Beautiful green sapphire collection, as well!! I've come to really enjoy the earthy greens and not just the bluish-greens, thanks to @crashsle.

Thank you Autumn! I love the pendant, though it is quickly getting too cold for the dress I had it in mind with…
I checked out crashsle’s thread and I’m crying because I’ve been looking for that forest shade:D

I've been drooling over this piece on Inken's inst. If it belongs to a fellow PSer, I wish she'd share the deets with us!

Drooling with you now, what a dream:D
There’s so many shades of green to love…

Question: I’m sure this has been asked before but I couldn’t find the particular thread: how often should you clean your rings? Is a wash and brush under the tape enough or do you need soap/other treatments?
If someone knows which old thread to check that’s also very much appreciated! The only things I owned before diving into color stones are jade (set without metal) and platinum which I just wear into the shower (perhaps not the most wise with jade either, come to think of it… I’ve been wearing it since childhood and did not think much about maintenance.)
Thank you in advance!

In case anyone clicked in for stones please accept an outside shot of the newest:

how often should you clean your rings?

Often enough so that you don't allow dirt to build up.
Sorry, not a very useful answer. :D But if I say once a week while referring to something you wear every day, it wouldn't really make sense to take something out of the jewellery box where it's peacefully residing for a weekly cleaning that's unnecessary.

I'm in your camp. I clean my stuff when I clean myself. :D But it's easy to afford such freedom with durable pieces.

Thanks for the input Avondale! This definitely makes sense, I guess something that makes it harder to judge for me is that I often wear mine at home (while not doing housework) for several hours simply because I want to admire the stones, and I couldn’t see anything yet but I’m sure some tiny bits of dust and body oil has come into contact.
I don’t know about the effect of hot water on jade, so far I think it’s fine so I’ll continue as is with those:D

Hi everyone, finally got another project done! It’s opal with both WG and YG, and it’s my own design! (though could also be I got inspired somewhere and just don’t remember) I thought since one is orange the other clear it would be cool to have the gold match.

How cool! I just love brushed gold. Congrats and enjoy!!

You have a beautiful collection of interesting greens! Can’t wait to see what you do with your newer stones.

I seriously need to take a break for my wallet’s sake. Couldn’t help it with some of these cheaper stones though… This small white opal I really love, the real thing looks a lot redder. And the other is blackish grey and pink spinel.
