Photos of my newly acquired Old European Cut diamond Soviet era Russian ring. The vintage setting is a rose gold with a white gold head circa the 1950''s.

My fiance and I had originally bought the ring mostly for the vintage setting- which I love- and with the intentions of replacing the diamond. But, the more I look at the ring, the more I am liking the uniqueness of the stone. I really love the fire it produces, the chunky facets and the history of it. And as I''m not one much for jewelry anyhow, I''ve been thinking about just leaving good enough alone and enjoy the ring and the diamond as a quirky, unique, vintage piece.

It''s lovely! Great find.

Pretty! I love the rose gold. I have a lot of jewelry from 1920-1950 Soviet-era Ukraine, and it is almost all 18k rose gold, which I love. Where did you find this lovely ring?

It''s really cool, and I would also leave that diamond in there. It''s gorgeous, and better yet, has character!

What a lovely ring! Look at that diamond!! Congrats on a beautiful piece!!

oh- i''m so glad i posted the ring here! it''s so nice to share in the fun with others :)

kittybean- we found the ring at a local jeweler here in brooklyn. we live in a predominantly russian/ polish area and the jeweler had bought this from a local estate sale.

I''m lovin'' the rose gold and the diamond is sooo unique!!!!, I love it.

Lovely!!! Congrats!

How pretty! In the third picture with the blueish hue- the culet gives off a cool flower pattern. Love the rose gold.

I''m curious as to the place you got it. I''m in Brooklyn also and am always looking for interesting pieces.

you lovely ladies have definitely helped me make the decision to keep the stone as is! thanks so much!!!!

i don''t recall the name of the store off the top of my head, but i''ll check when i get home. i do know it is on manhattan avenue in greenpoint. after i discovered the origins of the setting, i found some similar ones on ebay and at rubylane.

I love old cuts, and that''s a great example - I vote for keeping it as is, definitely! It looks marvelous on your hand.

i am an OEC as well, and let me tell you, i get so many compliments on it!! i love the chunky look as well.

thanks again all!

any ideas for a wedding band that would go with this ring? i''d prefer something very thin i think.

Im glad to hear that you have fallen in love with the stone - its very charming in its own way!

Wear in great love, good health, and much happiness!
