How pretty! Congratulations!
Ditto

Oh I think it has real character and interest the way it is. I''m glad you''re going to leave it in it''s setting. Just have a jeweler check it to be sure it is secure in the setting. And ENJOY it!!

thanks again! it''s so nice to hear words like character when thinking about diamonds.

any thoughts on a wedding bad that could work with this ring? i''m stumped!

Oh I still love this ring so much!!! As for a wedding band, have you thought of a curved diamond band to fit around shape? I would think a bead set or pave set would be lovely with that type of ring. Something similar to this might work.

Love the ring, the setting, and especially the stone!

Gorgeous!

For a wedding ring, maybe a simple etched vintage band like this one, or something similar in white gold:

I like this one, too!!!

Love your ring!!!

wow! i actually LOVE both of those bands.

jean, i like the idea of a curved band that sit flush with the ring- although i would want one a but thinner (actually the thinner the better). i''ll have to look around a bit.

and love vintage- i love, love, love that band with the heart etchings! it''s too cute. i wish i could see it first- i''ll have to visit some stores and look at similar bands.

thanks again!

any other ideas?

I'd suggest going to estate jewelers and antique shops. I have a vintage ring and a vintage band. The shanks do tend to get worn over time. Both of my rings are very light and delicate. If I had a new band, it would defintely feel off to me with my older ring. Actually, you might try on some vintage bands and some new bands to see the difference yourself.

I really like the idea of an older wedding band with your ring. There are lots of options for on-line looking, but I too would want to see the ring in person since it is such an important ring.

I agree going to antique stores (or places that sell antique rings) would be wise. I don''t like how thick the band is that I showed you, but I was looking quickly. A local jeweler here sells a lot of antique rings and does a good amount of replica rings too. I saw some absolutely gorgeous delicate bands that would look great wiht a ring like yours. I was looking for ones to wear with my grandmother''s old engagement ring from 1925. Wound up doing a different jewelry project but there are tons of options for curved bands that would sit flush.

I know I saw a bunch of straight bands as well that would''ve been cute, but sadly I had no room on my finger to wear them with it. I definitely think seeing things in person is wise. The jeweler I went to was sayng that they could easily (and not to expensively) create or modify rings to match.

Have fun looking :)

I really like it and I definitely would NOT touch it!

Pretty

I just love the ring and diamond! Just so unique and gorgeous. I am wondering, and I hate to bring this up. But is it possible the diamond girdle is chipped? I think I see a possible chip in pic two (7 o''clock) and three, but it could be an optical illusion. I am just mentioning this as it may factor in the decision to reset the diamond. If I am wrong, my apologies.

Lovely!!!!!!!!

So pretty!

thanks again all!

i think we may try to go to some stores next weekend and take a look around. any suggestions for good antique/vintage jewelers in the nyc area?

lisa- there is a small chip on the gridle, but i''m not sure you can see it in the photos? i can only see it with a 10x loupe. anyhow, i plan on bringing it to a jeweler to check out just in case. no worries hopefully! thanks for the honest look out!
