Hi everybody!

Hope you're doing well despite these hard times.

I have seen so many beautiful pendants here and have decided that I would love to get one of my own. I'm thinking a bezel setting with milgrain in yellow gold, around 50 cm chain length.

Now to the stone, I just can't let go of the thought of owning an antique old cut diamond, especially as history has always been my favourite subject.

My intention is to wear the necklace daily so I'm thinking that a size between 0,5 ct - 1,00 ct would be lovely (especially with the bezel), it's a size I would feel comfortable with.

I want the colour to be low, light yellow low, would you suggest that I look at p and lower? I just love that yellow(my happy colour) tint.
I would prefer an OEC or OMC.

The stone doesn't not have to be perfect or anything, that's not what I'm after, I just want something that will bring me joy every day and it will mean a lot to me personally.

Ideally I would love to find a vendor who can find me the stone and make the necklace for me, but I'm open for suggestions:).

Are there anything I should be aware of when looking for stones in lower colours?
Please share photos if you have a lower coloured stone for inspiration:).

These are the vendors that I follow on Instagram that maybe would be up to the task:

Old world diamonds
Sin city finds
Enhoerning jewelry
Ivy and Rose
Parksfinegroupinc

Do you know anyone else?

There is no hurry with this at all, I'm just happy that I have decided to go for it:).

Thanks for reading!

Oecs tend to face up whiter, so if you're looking for a noticeable yellow tint, you'd have to go QR or lower. I had OP, QR, ST, WX, YZ oecs before, and O-P isn't tinted enough imo, in oec. Omc might face up more tinted. If you want a yellow stone, you'd want to look in the WX YZ range, and they're not that easy to find. Here are some pictures of YZ oecs (already sold) if you want to see color in various lighting. https://loupetroop.com/listings/earrings/sold-1-dot-80ctw-y-z-light-yellow-oec-diamond-earrings

Thank you! Those are STUNNING! As long as it has a pale yellow tint I'll be happy so maybe around QR ST (if they are easier to find)?

I think they're much harder to find than LMN for some reason, but you only need one stone it might not be as difficult since you won't need to match pattern. I've matched up two pairs of QR ST oecs in the past... 8 years? I had a 1ct and a 1.15ct that sat lonely for years, then somehow matched both within 1.5 years. Was determined to make a pair of double dangles but realized my flimsy lobes can't handle the weight. I'd try Ivy and Rose, they have a huge inventory!

I'll see what I can find:).

My earlobes are flimsy too so I feel your pain.

Hi @muesli ! I’ve been on an OEC / OMC hunt too but was more towards the near colorless range. I also wanted to make a pendant!

I went through all the vendors in the antiques vendors list and the OEC recommended list.

I can post the full list I went through but these were the vendors I considered purchasing a stone from:
Jewels by grace
Good old gold
Old world diamonds (huge inventory but search is hard) - you might want to reach out to him
Ivy and rose
diamonds by lauren

For the pendant setting I would recommend David klass - he made my French cut eternity ring and it’s perfect.

here’s the OEC list I went through:

Also Parks Fine Group, Ivy and Rose Vintage, and from the Antique and Vintage jewellery forum(mostly jewellery but some also sell loose stones)

Thank you so much for sharing this! You are very kind:).

I love everything I have seen from DK here, I have to check if they ship to my country though, and as I'm not in the US it might be a bit difficult to purchase the stone and the necklace from different vendors (maybe not)?

Oooh do you mind sharing your French cut eternity ring? I'm also commencing my wedding band search at the moment and I loooove the look of french cuts.

Have you found an oec/omc yet? What specs are you looking for? I'm really excited for you!

Once again thank you so much!

Hi @muesli!

Here’s some older hand shots of the French cut ring paired with my other bands (my fingers are too puffy right now to model it with my ering!)

David klass posted a video of it on his instagram too:
He sourced all the French cut diamonds himself so I didn’t have to! solid platinum band weighs 2 grams, set with 1.24cts of G color, VS clarity french cut diamonds, size 5, about 2.5mm in width

I absolutely love it and never take it off (it needs a cleaning :))
Hope this helps!

@Slick1 also posted some beautiful pictures of her David klass eternity ring paired with her beautiful diamond and sapphire halo ring (my jaws dropped) on my old thread when I was looking for an eternity ring: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/french-cut-eternity-band-in-size-5-or-5-25.247347/

For my OEC I took a risk and bought it on eBay!

I LOVE IT! Soooooo beautiful! That's something I would love to get for my wedding ring, but not an eternity, maybe diamonds that covers 1/2 - 2/3 (I want to get it engraved).
How do you find the durability?

Yes I saw your post! How lucky you are! Such a beautifully cut OEC to boot.

Another PS'er showed me this IG vendor, she does a lot of old cut bezel pendants at great prices. Might be worth a look or DM to see if she has something that you'd like, try:

@muesli i know this gorgeous OMC stone is not the color you wanted but wanted to post this here in case you were interested.

I bought this beautiful old mine cut from @PreRaphaelite but sadly it is not the right stone for me. It will be available soon very soon! It’s actually .65carat despite the title saying .55

Thank you for your kind words! I know there is an OEC out there that will be right for your project. They usually pop up when you least expect it <3

Thank you @PreRaphaelite! I did not find the perfect OEC for the bezel project but that will have to wait until I have funds for it and patiently find the right stone as you said. I did find the perfect(antique?) three stone OEC ring for my mom which I will surprise her with soon! Let me know your thoughts on it - I made a post here: https://www.pricescope.com/communit...ss-lady-whos-never-had-a-diamond-ring.257293/

@muesli I hope you too find your OEC/OMC for your project - if I see anything in my searches I will definitely message you! Hopefully the vendors list above helped!

regarding David Klass's french cut eternity ring - it is super durable - I've worn it everyday for the last 1+ year, shower with it, etc and it's still in amazing perfect shape! I highly recommend him if you are thinking of a wedding band soon.

Not to threadjack but that is lovely. What is your finger size if you don't mind me asking. I'd love a band with larger stones but afraid price will be prohibitive.

I'm sending the beautiful OMC back to @PreRaphaelite so it will be available directly from her and up to her to decide! It's a gorgeous stone and deserves someone who loves it as much as she does.

I don't mind at all :D.

I am casually hunting for several pairs to make earrings, major pain but with teleworking it is a nice break. I also found Rothschild Trading CO on etsy. They had a decent variety and prices were quite competitive to Ivy and Rose. They also had smaller stones which I was looking for so you might have better luck.

I am following this threat with great interest. I don't need perfect matches by any means but there is some wild variety out there! And since I am looking at mm size not carat it is a mine field, no pun intended.

These little guys caught my eye: .56ct light yellow VS1 Old Mine or .55 LIght Yellow VS2

@muesli Not sure your clarity & ‘imperfect’ tolerances are, but what about a (GIA) light brown?

I believe this seller can assist with the setting process as well. I’ve personally never purchased from him, but I have exchanged a couple messages with him on an antique setting, and found him to be very kind & helpful.

@muesli this is 0.54 carat. You can find the vendor on IG. I found this in his story, he just posted today.

@muesli I don't know if you want to take the very risky ebay route (it's not advisable here on PS!!!) - as you said it would be easier to find the stone + setting vendor together such as from the antiques/oec trusted list I posted above - but I saw a few yellow diamonds that you might like or at the very least use to compare.

I think you might want to stick to @ForteKitty 's guidelines when picking a stone from whatever vender you end up going with!

From her guidance, I think the first one is more your cup of tea for the yellow color! (Color: W-X (Light Yellow))

I did a quick 0.5 - 1carat search on Old World Diamonds and they didn't have any videos of the P to Z range to see darker yellows, but I'm sure if you emailed them they can get some pictures for you.

Here's some videos of L M N O so you can at least see how white the OEC's face up in these colors

I believe this seller can assist with the setting process as well. I’ve personally never purchased from him, but I have exchanged a couple messages with him on an antique setting, and found him to be very kind & helpful.

Thank you!!! They're gorgeous but I think I would prefer the stone to be more yellow than brownish (it would not look good on my skin I think) but it's very pretty!
Thank you so much for introducing me to this seller, I've started following him on Instagram:).

@muesli this is 0.54 carat. You can find the vendor on IG. I found this in his story, he just posted today.

It's so cute and pretty! Unfortunately I've had a busy weekend and just checked PS quickly and sporadically, so I missed the chance of getting it (already sold):(. I'm sure it will make someone else really happy though.

From her guidance, I think the first one is more your cup of tea for the yellow color! (Color: W-X (Light Yellow))

I loooove them, however being in Europe makes me even more frightened when it comes to Ebay :/...I'm not experienced enough and, honestly, a bit of a coward :D.
Thank you for sharing the colours, my heart flutters when I see the N and O :).
